of two young women. >> several questions remain. george lettis has the latest on the investigation. >> good morning. crews have been here all night and are still here working on this big cleanup which will take a while and so will the investigation. we are learning more about what happened. officials say the train was traveling 25 miles per hour when the first 21 cars went off the track. police say the bodies of elizabeth nass and rose mayr were found buried beneath caloal underneath the bridge. crews are trying to right the overturned cars. >> automatic function of the air brake system. there was a separation in the air line which caused the

county. we're told she was last seen on august 17 at her grandmother's home in dundalk. she's described as 5 foot 3 inches tall, one under 62 pounds. she was last seen wearing a striped blouse with capri jeans. there is some concern she may have gone to meet somebody she met online. of a marylanding it service member killed while serving in afghanistan. david williams of frederick died kandahar.ay in canada a this comes as family and friends in edgewater remember patrick feeks. he was killed after a blackhawk

crews had been here all night and still working on the investigation and cleanup. we're learning more about what happened here. >> this 3000-foot csx freight train was on its way to baltimore when it derailed in ellicott city. >> i heard the noise. it kind of sounded like a car crash. looked out and it was continuous "boom, boom, boom, boom." >> the three crew members on board -- i have reviewed their statements. all their statements indicate they felt nothing and they saw nothing before an emergency brake occurred in their train. >> ntsb officals say the 80-car train was traveling an authorized 25 miles per hour when the first 21 cars went off the tracks, dumping coal everywhere and killing two 19- year-old women. police say the bodies of elizabeth nass and rose mayr were found buried beneath the coal under the main street bridge. authorities say their cause of death will be determined by an autopsy. in the meantime, crews spent

tuesday trying to right these overturned train cars. several investigations are under way to figure out what happened, but it appears the train's brakes were automatically applied. >> an automatic function of the air brake system in the derailment forces. there was a separation in the air line, which causes the emergency brakes to apply. >> nine ntsb investigators combed through evidence all tuesday afternoon and several were expected to work through the night. >> we are looking at every single aspect of this occurrence, ok? rail, track, witness statements. we're investigating this accident to determine not just what happened but also to try and determine why it happened so that we can make recommendations that will prevent similar incidents from occurring again. >> there are several streets leading up to ellicott city and including a large portion of main street that are still close.
