dramatic images as the storm ripped across haiti leaving floodwaters and at least one fatality. the pictures and problems are an ominous calling card for this system that will turn its attention to the gulf coast. >> everyone needs to be watching carefully and making preparations. >> residents are moving sandbags into place in southwest florida. >> it looks like it will be serious. with the category one, that is just the wind. it is the storm surge and the size we are concerned with. we are very anxious. >> nerves are on edge because of the new forecast path that shows it growing in the warm gulf waters to perhaps a category two hurricane before landfall. >> that is a lot of warm water, fuel for the hurricane. it could intensify and pull

killed this weekend while riding his bicycle. he was a beloved man in the city of baltimore. not only for his business. for the person he was. george is live in canton. >> he was easily one of the most beloved people in baltimore. he was considered one of the pioneers of canton. he had successful restaurants that were driving forces behind making the square a popular destination in the city. the square has turned into a memorial of sorts. there are flowers and mementos in front of his restaurants. he was killed in ocean city last night. about 8:30, he was riding a bike along the coastal highway. he collided with a city bus. the exact circumstances are under investigation. friends and irregulars have been coming by all day. they have been sharing favorite

stories. he was a big philanthropist. for the past decade, he was a big supporter of the believe in tomorrow children's foundation where he served 16,000 meals to needy families and children. >> he touched a lot of lives. to host a funeral for him, to have everyone whose lives he has touched, you would have to have it at the stadium. >> a very sad day. there will be a vigil tonight on the square at 8:00. the 49-year-old leaves behind a wife and two kids. >> that is one small step for man. one giant leap for mankind. >> the first man to walk on the moon has died. 82-year-old neil armstrong

>> for many, the first day of school is monday. many students still do not have the necessary supplies. officers and members of local lodge 3 and the american legion post 19 took over madison avenue in baltimore this afternoon. they held a back-to-school block party. the organizations provided free school supplies to over 200 children. >> we know some of the kids cannot afford it. some of them need it. we wanted to give it to them and have a good time. >> the kids also enjoyed free food and games to help kick off the start of school. >> york 11 insta-weather plus forecast with meteorologist lowell melser. >> it could be a wet start to the week for those kids heading

back to school. that is because of this low pressure system sitting off of the atlantic seaboard around virginia and north carolina. it is bringing heavy rain to the eastern shore. focus city at about 0.75 inches of rain in the last hour. this will spin around all night bringing light rain to the majority of the viewing area. it is something we will have to watch throughout the evening. as far as the rain fall today, it is a bit misleading. the main rain gauge is at bwi marshall. they had just a trace of rain. for august, we are about 0.1 inches below normal. year to date, we are almost 8 inches below normal. temperatures are pretty good. the cloud cover kept

temperatures low. anywhere from the 70's west of the area and also on the eastern shore they work in the 70's. ocean city is now at 68 degrees. the majority of the precipitation on the eastern shore. there is the low pressure system over the hampton roads area on the outer banks of north carolina. that will sit there for the next couple of days. it will bring with it quite a bit of rain for the eastern portions of our viewing area. as it spends, it will keep bringing rain to the baltimore area. we're watching the frontal system in the midwest. that will make things interesting as what will become a hurricane isaac moves into the mid-atlantic by the end of next week. with that front coming through and the high pressure systems it

could make for interesting weather friday and saturday and next week. these are things that are just unfolding. we will have to keep a close eye on them. this evening, cloudy with on and off showers. 65 to 73 degrees. the orioles game should not be too bad. you will need a raincoat. you might get some sprinkles. we should be able to get through the game. the forecast shows on and off showers into the afternoon tomorrow. at around 4:00, we will start to see heavier showers moving in. the ocean city forecast, 80's. it looks good on sunday and monday. there is tropical storm isaac. it will move up into the golf and probably will be a category two hurricane by the time it reaches the southern portion of alabama. that will be interesting.

it is august 25. last night, they rode a familiar combination to victory, pitching and home runs. he made his second straight start after languishing in the minors for more than a month. another great effort. just two runs allowed in more than six innings. he was called up yesterday from triple-a heelivered out of the jam in the seventh. he got it done. the star was davis. the first three-home run game of his career. davis made a bid for four home runs6-4 in in the books. all smiles in the clubhouse.
