kim dacey is live at the school, and in jayne miller has the latest on the investigation ritchie is live in dundalk. you just attended a press conference. what more have you learned? >> 15-year-old bobby gladden was charged as an adult with attempted murder. police chief james johnson provided new details of the allegations against the teenager. he says that gladden for the bus to school with a double barreled shotgun broken out in his book bag. he went to his first and secondary classes, and then to the cafeteria for lunch. he got the gun from a bathroom where he had hidden it and put it together and got off one shot before being restrained by the guidance counselor and other school staff. that hit a 17-year-old in the lower blacback.

he remains in critical condition. >> we are aware of many reports that the suspect was a victim of bullying. we cannot confirm those reports. robert gladden's conversations with investigators have not indicated bullying was an issue in this case. the investigation is incomplete, keep that in mind. we continue to talk with him and others. at this point we have not received information that bullying played a role in this crime. >> suspect bobby glavin is undergoing a mental health evaluation and a hospital. he has been charged as an adult. police say he had 21 rounds of ammunition with him yesterday. they also recovered a bottle of

vodka and believed he had taken a few sets of it, but they do not believe he was impaired at the time of the shooting. his stepfather was struck with illegal possession of a firearm and possession -- of possession was charged with illegal possession a firearm and possession of marijuana. that was from a search his house. the shot and came from the home of his natural father. no charges have been filed at this point against him. now we go to perry hall and kim dacey live there. >> daniel, the victim in the case, remains in critical condition at shock trauma. students held a prayer vigil outside this morning for him before heading back to classes. a sign says "pray for daniel" and sits outside perry hall high school. he was shot in the cafeteria on

monday. students say he has down syndrome and was well known and light at the school. >> he is the sweetest thing ever, such a sweetheart, always happy and smiling. it is a shame. >> daniel was the only person hit when bobby gladden open fire. the school was evacuated and sent students home. they returned on tuesday to start the school year again. >> it is scary. i know there is going to be more security here and everything. >> i am not really scared, because the threat is gone. i just think today is going to be more of getting back into the gist of just going to school. >> parents we spoke to were concerned about their children returning today. something that students should of had the day off because of the violence. >> crying all day because she was in the cafeteria.

i think she should have been given a day off. >> it is it kind of scary. i am kind of scared to send her back, but what else am i going to do? i'm going to be on pins and needles all day at work worrying about what is going to happen. it is scary. >> school officials say they have crisis teams on hand to support the kids and thought it would be important to get the students back into normal retain. >> talking to teachers this morning, the students have been very eager to talk to teachers and are rallying or around the victim and the school and community to help in any way they can. >> many of facebook pages have gone out in support of daniel, the victim in this case. students say they are praying for his recovery. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> we have a continuing coverage of the shooting, including the latest updates and images and video on our mobile app and our

website. switching gears, coastal cities along the gulf are feeling the effects of isaac. the slow-moving storm is threatening to drop heavy rainfall on new orleans. the latest on how people there are surviving the storm. >> brain benders the walls -- rain batters the walls as had the storm makes its way to the gulf. some roads have been closed. thousands are under mandatory evacuation in coastal communities. from the sky, clouds spread over as the storm began its assault on the city. president obama is promising a quick response to any emergency as isaac intensifies. >> i will do everything to make sure that the federal government is helping the people to prepare for and recover from this dangerous storm. >> many southern louisiana residents are counting on the promises.

>> 100-mile-per-hour winds are scary to me. >> isaac will be the first major test of the makeover to the new orleans levee system, which failed in 2005 during hurricane katrina. >> i have faith in god. i don't have faith in those walls. >> emergency officials are warning not to underestimate this storm. it will have a major impact. >> much of the gulf coast is already feeling the impactrom isaac. it has not reached hurricane strength just yet, though i.t. has just shy of it by five miles per hour. as you look at the current radar pictures, you can see a well- defined circulation starting to form what appears to be an i.

>> the republican party officially opens the it 2012 national convention for business. with a swing of the devil, chairman reince priebus -- a swing of the gavel, chairman reince priebus to clear the convention opened it there was a moment of silence as neil armstrong was recognized for his service to the nation. a press conference will be held later today for the families of the victims of the theater shooting in aurora, colorado.

downtown baltimore, chances are you felt like a race car driver. preparations are underway for the grand prix in baltimore. crews started the week of by adding last minute touches to the racetrack and installing 21,000 more feet. city officials say they have made several improvements to the race, especially involving road closings. they promised getting downtown should be a lot easier for drivers. >> thursday will be the most challenging trade people have a little more understanding of what to expect. once the businessweek was over, friday we had the early rush hour, and in the afternoon, things open up our great deal. >> several downtown companies plan to close for business on thursday and friday. for the best ways to get around downtown, had to our website, wbaltv.com. baltimore has a new top cop. after a nationwide search, the

city has chosen anthony batts to replace fred bealefeld, who retired earlier this month. he has worked in law enforcement for 30 years and formerly served eight years as police chief in long beach, california. mayor stephanie rawlings-blake formally introduced him today. he is scheduled to take a position on september 27. >> now your 11 insta-weather- plus forecast with ava marie. >> starting off with a live look at hd doppler. these guys have basically cleared out across the baltimore metro area. light showers holding together this morning. this one is holding my version city. a little sprinkle off the coast of st. mary's county. this is what is left over from the rain. this will be pushing through later this evening into tonight. until that happens, we have a chance for isolated activity.

look at t temperatures right now. mid-80's all across the metro, occluding 85 at the airport. parksville also 83 right now. fred dew points temperatures in the 60s and low seventies across baltimore. this is still very sticky, humid ear. it will feel that way into the afternoon. this is coming in behind the cold front. that is what is ahead of it. once this comes through, we start to see the drier air come in. the second cold front is and the great lakes region right now. this comes through later tomorrow and it will continue to her in the drier air. we are sticking with the pattern for a couple of days. this is what we are tracking. tropical storm isaac -- notice

i said "tropical storm." back to our area tonight, less humid conditions. 50s when you get out into the suburbs. forecast for tomorrow, mid-80's towards the afternoon. much more comfortable, lower humidity. you have is well defined simulation starting to become a little more well-defined. heading towards the southeast coast of louisiana. expect it to make landfall later today into tonight, just west of new orleans. that is when you could get a category one hurricane. in fact, this update came in. 75-mile that per-hour winds. isaac officially a hurricane. we will be tracking as a category one. we will be tracking this in the upcoming days.

period, behind the winter holiday spirs allow. lack of sufficient sleep is linked to breast cancer. than 400more 10 patients noted those with less sleep had more aggressive tumors. while the coalition was with post menopausal women, there was no such link with younger patients. researchers in australia recruited 62 patients with a cough lasting more than two months. chronic cough patients who were on this medication for eight weeks improved much more than patients given a placebo, and it subsided after the medication stopped. all patients and instead tried other, and dozens but did not respond. -- all the patients in the study
