facing a sentence of 26 years in prison. his appearance is noticeably different than back in february. a clean-cut image is gone. his hair is longer and he is dressed in an oversized prison jumpsuits. his attorney presented brief opening statements, telling the judge of their sentence would be 14 years in prison rather than 26. the commonwealth's attorney presented five witnesses, including former teammates and friends. a former teammate said she recalled the night at a bar when george hughley to alter it because she told her father of his recent drunk and violent behavior. a former teammate says he be him so badly after he spent an intimate night with love. >> the judge made some

adjustments based on an appropriate factor to take into consideration, which is the sentencing guidelines. he affirmed the judgment of the jurors. his defense paraded a few character witnesses of his son. he also -- all said he was a good person and someone people looked up to. >> we believe in the jury system and in our courts, about we disagree that the conviction in this case for second-degree murder was appropriate and we disagree with this sentence that was imposed today. >> virginia band parole back in 1995, so if he shows good behavior, he will only have to serve about 85% of his prison term. it comes out to about 20 years.

he served two years of that term. once he is released, he will have to remain on probation for three years. >> new details are emerging in connection was last year's fatal shooting of a teenager at the town center. prosecution testimony revealed that the suspect belonged to the notorious gang. >> the dain restaurant is a new revelation in this case and could set the stage for a motive. the defendant frank williams held the rank of commander in the gang. the co-defendant is a middle manager in the gang. prosecutors showed the jury items of clothing. they're the same clothes he is seen wearing at the time of the

fatal mall shooting. prosecutors showed the jury surveillance shapes -- tape shown them arriving at the mall. prosecutors have yet to publicly state their motive. police found them shot multiple times outside of nordstrom. baltimore county police suggested that he was a target. detectives -- when someone crosses the gang, or becomes a competitor, a supreme commander of the gang can order a hit. a lower-level commanders carries out. i hit could mean imposing fines. the gang is structured so that the person who orders the head has deniability. those involved are told little or -- nothing about the job.

possible motive could be found in public records. court documents indicate that in 2010, he assaulted and robbed a suspected gang member. prosecutors are about to introduce evidence to suggest a motive when the jury informed the judge they were tired. testimony will resume tomorrow. word on's still no whether there'll be a bail hearing for the 15-year-old who opened fire this week. robert gladden jr. continues a mental evaluation. his attorney claims he had no intention of pulling the trigger. the first shot was to intimidate and the second was accidentally fired when a school counselor intervened. there are still questions about whether the suspect. the trouble which led to this violence this week. our education reporter joins us live with more on the story. >> experts say signs of trouble

can show up early, but they can also go undetected. it was the first day of school when police made robert gladden jr. carried out an act of violence. he showed up with a shotgun in his backpack. he put the weapon together, but did it come up and walked into the cafeteria. he fired a shot which struck a classmate and the back. a professor says teenagers like robert gladden jr. often display early signs of trouble. >> they have engaged in minor anti-social accept from a young age. these are kids who may have done things like cruelty to animals or fire setting or just being a very socially isolated. >> their isolated. experts say bizarre postings on social media should not be overlooked. especially if there is a

remains a shock trauma tonight. he was listed in critical condition. >> the anne arundel county man who threatened to kill his co- workers went before a judge this afternoon. it was decided that he must wear a gps anklet and cannot have any access to guns. his case may national headlines back in july when police said they thwarted his plan for a mass shooting similar to the movie theater shooting in colorado. he threatened to shoot people in the office building capitol heights because he was in the process of being fired. the suspected gunman in the shooting is scheduled to be in court today. prosecutors are expected to find out if they will get their hands on the notebook. it happened last month during a midnight premier of the latest batman movie. he is charged with murder and attempted murder and faces two weapons charges. >> today was the official start
