what is happening down there on the race with. id is a rush hearing those cars. >> it is quiet now. the have opened up the track and let people go through. about five minutes ago, they were screaming around here and i was talking my head off. it was wonderful for everyone around me. they are zooming through here. this is a day when they take to the track, the drivers do, and they find out what is going on on the track. the engineers are looking over its. they are going to be setting up these cars for this race track. all of them are different. it is extremely different when you go from this race track to another racetrack. i know nothing about it. it is all what i have been told by the engineers and the drivers who are down here. people can go across here on the

track. they will close it down in a few minutes. there is no way you can get close to teh track. it will be locked down and then the drivers will be warming up taking a few laps. a lot of unbelievable cars. you can go inside the convention center and what the people working on the car's. the crews are in their. a lot of people are in there and it is nice and cool in there also. i guess they are just looking over the track. people driving by. i don't know. they will figure everything out and in a few minutes they will be roaring through the streets. he will not be able to hear anything. it is exciting. >> it sure is. thank you, rob. you can make wbal tv your pit

" right now, the sun is out. there is a storm off to the west. we know isaac rated down on the louisiana and the gulf coast region. right now it is up in the state of missouri. now getting near southern iowa. these airlines are the possible tracks of the storm -- these lines of the possible cracks that the storm will take. this is what the storm will look like on saturday and sunday. tomorrow is going to be near 90 degrees but we might start picking up some clouds.

by sunday, we could see some scattered showers in the area and temperatures will be in the mid 80's for highs. that is the way things are being interpreted now. we will bring you updates in a few minutes. >> the sentence is 23 years for a former lacrosse player, george huguely, for the killing of yeardley love. the original recommendation was 26 years. he was found guilty of second- degree murder and grand larceny. the anne arundel county man who police say called himself the joker appear before a judge yesterday. he will now have to wear a gps anklet and will be permitted from having access to guns. he threatened to shoot workers after being fired from his job. this case made national headlines back in july when

police thwarted his plan for a mass shooting similar to the one in colorado. a community looks to move forward tonight as the football team plays its first game of the season against st. paul's. in the meantime, the parent of the teenager wounded in the shooting are speaking out for the very first time. daniel borowy's father says he and his wife do not know the exact circumstances of the shooting but had this to say about the 15-year-old facing charges. >> obviously, he is a troubled young man. i hope that he get the help that he needs. i am not trying to be forgiving because we are hurting. my son is hurting. but that's for the legal system, the police, the lawyers, the

judges -- all of them to do what they have to do. >> that 15-year-old suspect, robert gladden jr., remains in a psychiatric hospital undergoing an evaluation. the hearing for next thursday has been postponed. he has been charged with attempted murder and first- degree assault. he is being held without bail. isaac has passed but the storm is still causing concern. state officials appear new clubs and hundreds of thousands could spend days without power. daniel lee has the latest from new orleans. >> people are still trudging through streets that block more like rivers. >> they are scared. >> police are hoping the flood waters will drain out by night so the crews can start repairing

>> several people are dead following a shooting at a new jersey supermarket during the overnight hours when the store was not open. at least three people were killed. it is believed the alleged gunman is among the dead. police say an investigation is now underway. a man is dead after he accidentally fell to his death last night during a houston texans football game. he was trying to slide down an escalator. several fans witnessed the man fall five stories to his death, landing facedown. he died at the hospital as a result of his injuries. is strong earthquake struck near the philippines leaving one person dead and several without power just of the eastern coast of the island, triggering tsunami warnings in the region and sending coastal residents

areanow hurricane isaa. now hurricane isaac is getting busy in iowa. temperatureat the right now. getting up near 90 degrees. annapolis at 89 degrees. westminster, 82 degrees. in the 70's out in western maryland. the key here is the humidity levels. they are all down. we have dry air even though temperatures are getting up around 90 degrees. clear skies. a big area of high pressure is keeping all of this tropical moisture away from us. you can see a line drawn from the bottled air left from hurricane isaac this is going to meet up with

this cold front. the cold front will eventually push east and it pushed all of this moisture in our direction as well. it will take a day or two to get to us. the tropical storm out west is gaining strength. it looks like the various computer models show that the track will stay out over the ocean. kirk is a hurricane as well headed for the north atlantic and neither of these storms are headed for the lower 48 states. our forecast is hotter today but not tropical hot. 90 degrees to 95 degrees is what we are expecting this afternoon and only a few little scattered clouds. r insta-weather plus futurecast -- by tomorrow, we will start picking up more cloudiness. especially in the mountains.

a few of those light scattered showers may develop and that is the first of the moisture coming in from the remnants of hurricane isaac by the time we get into sunday, a better chance we might see some showers get close to the chesapeake bay. based on this computer model, the bulk of the moisture will still be to the west and mostly in the mountains. how that will affect ocean city, the forecast for saturday is dry. 85 degrees the high. for sunday, maybe some showers skewed toward the end of the day. maybe some thunderstorms in the forecast for monday. this is not a washout forecast but the rain showers will be there. here is our 7-day forecast. tomorrow, 89 degrees for the high temperature. otherwise partly cloudy skies on saturday. rain chances to go up a little

bit. scattered showers and thunderstorms next week. >> in today's medical alert, the department of agriculture says it will spray for mosquitoes in the coming days to cut down on the population in the state. maryland health officials reported the first deaf from the west nile virus which we first told you about yesterday afternoon. it is scheduled in the milford mill area in baltimore county. resident in that area should stay indoors during that spray. keeping your children safe on the football field is more complicated. concussions are a serious threat. >> the titans are hoping to help reduce the impact of concussions this weekend. they are being assisted by researchers from a virginia tech. >> we signed them up to be a

part of this study. >> we want to know how often they are hit hard over the course of normal play. >> the professor and his team of researchers fix them up with centers that provide them that day that that they need. they hope it will help them design the safest helmets for student. >> if we can build a better, stronger, safer helmet, that is a plus for everybody. >> a pediatrician will tell you children are not small adults. >> while college and professional athletes have already been given a helmet rating system, researchers are hoping this study will be giving teams a safer option as well. >> up next, your maryland midday
