stable condition. either the gunman or student -- nor victim were students. students receive this alert. >> shooting confirmed. emergency. stay indoors away from windows. >> all people were being lobbied into buildings. i went to a room with no windows and locks it. >> they cleared the building, at which point, the officials here on campus were able to move around freely again. >> it appears some kind of off- campus confrontation spilled into the student center. >> it is difficult. we are a state institution and a public university. we have an open campus. it is not physically pop -- possible to shut this campus down or put bars around it. >> in baltimore, these things

will happen. it is surprising on campus that it happened. i am not really to worry about that. >> a couple of hours ago, a couple came up to me here who go to church nearby and they say there is a special prayer service tonight to pray for the victim and students here. no victim has been reported here -- no other victim has been reported. >> thank you. should metal detectors be installed at baltimore county schools? that is one question facing administration a day after an eighth grader bought a loaded handgun into school and pointed it at classmates. school officials will be given hand-held wands if necessary. >> what i said is that there

have been several school incidents around our country where metal detectors have been in place and it did not stop the crime from happening. >> the 15-year-old accused of shooting a student on the first day of class could be released on bail tomorrow. robert is set to appear at baltimore county circuit court. a previous hearing was postponed, because he was undergoing a mental health investigation. >> tonight, a suspect is recovering after he was shot by police in baltimore county. an officer spotted the car around 11:30 this morning. when the officer approached the vehicle, the driver took off toward the police officer, who then opened fire. the car and suspect were found

in a parking lot. >> police are investigating a pay -- a case of a man breaking into an elderly woman's home in glen burnie. it is at least the third incident on that same block in two years. police have stepped up their patrols and are warning residents to stay alert. >> the latest break-in was saturday night. a 70-year-old woman was getting dressed and looked up to find a man standing outside of her bedroom. >> he stepped toward her, despite a knife. he covered his face with her shirt. >> the woman was not injured. the suspect got away with the shirt. >> they have increased patrols throughout the neighborhood. the case brings back disturbing memories gary >> there were two incidents. the one up there. there was a break in two years ago, as well. maybe it is the same guy.
