weekend. first let's see what's happening on the roads. >> good morning, everyone. not bad out there. just a few things to talk about in the city. a few closures from preston to cathedral for the annual celebration gala. we're shaping up very well as far as drive time. only going to take you 10 minutes to travel south on i-95 down towards 32. here is a live view of traffic. outer loop traffic, you can see how light it is in both directions from the harrisburg expressway. problem free at the moment. in harford county, traveling smoothly all the way down toward fort mchenry. that is the latest. >> our big story this morning.

classes are expected to resume at morgan state this morning following a shooting on campus wednesday evening. >> this is the first shooting at the clenalt level. jennifer franciotti is live with the latest on the search for the gunman. >> classes were canceled last night just as a precaution after someone was shot inside the student center on campus just before 5:00 last night. according to university officials, they are calling this a targeted shooting. they say there was one suspect and one intended victim. that victim was shot in the stomach taken to johns hopkins hospital listed in stable condition this morning. neither gunman nor the student with students here at the university. there is an alert to stay away from windows as the police search for the suspect.

>> i went into one of the rooms with no windows and locked it. >> the swat team was here. they cleared the building and rendered the building safe at which point officials were able to let campus move around freely again. are it is believed this was a confrontation that started outside and spilled over into the student center. police are still looking for the gunman. wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you very much. that shooting happened only one day after an eighth grader allegedly brought a loaded handgun into stemmers middle school and pointed it at classmates. the question is whether metal detectors should be installed. the county superintendent who is in his first month on the job said the safety plan won't depend on those metal detectors.

>> i have not said yes or no to metal detectors. there have been several school incidents where they had been in place and not prevented the incident. >> school officials want to make sure teachers and administrators are trained handle dramatic incidents. the suspect in the hall shooting will appear in circuit court for a bail review where he could be released from jail. he faces 29 charges as an adult in the shooting of a 17-year-old. the school system's policy on firearms calls for a one-year expulsion for any student found with a weapon. >> another scare when police found a man suffering a gunshot wound in a car in catonsville parking lot. the officer approached the vehicle, investigators say the driver took off towards the officer who then opened fire. police later found the car and

the suspect in the high school's parking lot. >> maryland civil rights leader will go on trial today on marijuana charges. police arrested snowden back in april on marijuana charges after a vehicle he was in was pulled over for a broken taillight. the trial is scheduled to begin at 8:30 this morning in baltimore city district court. spraub promising to work with the lib -- president obama is promising to work with the libyan government. >> this comes as new questions arise about what really motivated the attacks on u.s. employment missions in the middle east. we hear more u.s. forces are headed that way. >> theat. forces are headed to libya this morning.

we're learning protesters have gathered outside the embassy in yemen. >> after protesters scaled the wall in cairo, an assault left cars burnt to ash and four americans dead including ambassador chris stevens. president obama is vowing vengeance. >> as for the ones we lost last night, we will bring their killers to justice. >> the u.s. looks into whether the violence was sparked by an inflammatory islam movie was actually planned. >> the question is was there a serious underlying extremist terrorist act here and if so, by who? >> we can't say for sure or certain this is an al qaeda event. it has all the hallmarkors an al qaeda events. >> i condemn them.

the pressure has pushed off the coast and when you get on the other side of an area of hubie: like that, the of high pressure like that, the winds start to shift to the south. the possibility of a little bit of rain. it doesn't look like a big deal. there are some showers along the boundary now but most of the computer models have that stuff basically falling apart by time it gets into our neighborhood. there could be a little bit of rain but the weekend forecast looking pretty good as well. a little push of warma. temperatures in the 60's in the midwest. it will warm up a touch. it will make it up to 81 today and maybe 83 on friday. 50 in frederick. not quite as cool as yesterday but still maybe a light jacket or sweater for some you've.

nice and mild. high temperatures in the upper 70's and low 80's. mostly sunny skies. southwest winds about so miles per hour. if you're taking the boat out today, nice on the water. we just had -- at 5:00 at fort mchenry. the temperatures have dropped back into the upper 50's to around 60. seven-day forecast. the clouds are picking up a little bit tomorrow. should be dry during the day but friday night, early saturday morning there is a slight chance that we could see some rain. certainly not a big deal. saturday afternoon through sunday should be dry, sunny with high temperatures expected in the upper 70's. >> in this morning's consumer alert. the secret is out. apple unveiled its latest version of the iphone.

relationship. it looks like it was a targeted student. >> police say the victim was shot in stomach and rushed to johns hopkins hospital. neither the gunman nor the victim are students at the university. an alert said it was a stabbing but minutes later students received this alert. lockdown. shooting confirmed. emergency. stay away from windows. our swat team was here. cleared the building, rendered it safe. >> the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation but officials say it appears some kind of campus confrontation spilled into the student center. >> it is very difficult. obviously we're a state institution. we're a public university. we have an open campus. it is not physically possible to shut this campus down or to put bars around it. >> baltimore, those kind of things are going to happen.

it is kind of surprising on campus it happened. but i'm not really too worried about that. >> and last night, all evening classes were canceled just as a precaution, but everything is expected to get back to normal today. as for the victim taken to johns hopkins, listed in critical but stable condition this morning. >> the metropolitan council releases a list of the deadliest crosswalks. east 33rd street, bel air rote. six people have died and 218 injured trying to cross those intersections. the main problem is people simply not paying attention. >> letting people know they should be using the crosswalks while obeying the traffic signals. stopping when it says stop. walking when it says walk. watch out for cars traveling faster than the normal speed.

police say the suspect got away with only a shirt. police are looking into the possibility if this case was linked to the sexual assault of an 83-year-old woman on that very same block two years ago. an american delegate announced -- until a study is complete. governor o'malley charged a panel to come up with the best practice recommendations by august of 2014. the montgomery county delegate says natural gas companies killed the bill that would have funded the study. authorities on the panel tell 11 news, the commission has money to complete the study and is working on securing funding. >> 66 degrees in downtown baltimore at 5:36. an h.i.v. prevention might do it

now back to tony. >> thanks, sir. another quiet and cool start for us on this thursday morning. if you needed a light jacket yesterday, you might need it again. high pressure has moved off the coast now and the winds have shifted to the south. on the left hand side of your screen, you see that cool fronts across the midwest probably giving us the chance for some rain friday night into saturday morning. some showers are lined up along that boundary. most of the computer mod realize is it falling apart by the time it gets into our neighborhood. the thing you're going to notice the most as this front approachs is the change in the temperatures. we have a push of warm air out ahead of the front. temperatures are going to get into the lower end of the 80's which is above average. it is not like we're going to have a heat wave or anything like that but it will be a little bit warmer than the last couple of days. 55 at the airport.
