6:00, a dispute over a parking spot in with a woman in police custody. >> lisa robinson has more on how things got so out of control. >> forget about road rage. police say parking lot rage entered new levels here in white marsh friday night with two people ended up being struck by a vehicle. last friday night around 8:25 at the avenue in white marsh, the driver of an oldsmobile, a 35- year-old brandy ames of edgewood became irate. >> the driver of the oldsmobile became enraged when the driver of the book's second part at this but she was going to park at. >> the got into a physical fight. then things got really out of control. >> she pulled forward and struck the passenger of the volkswagen, pinning her against the vehicle. >> when ames saw a witness

taking down information, she drove into that person, striking her as well. she is charged with assault and various traffic charges for fleeing the scene. people who witnessed the incident are outraged. >> out of control. very much of control. >> this is definitely one of those things we need to avoid. as grown adults and as kids as well, you know. to know that someone had to go through all of that over a parking spot. >> wbal-tv 11 news. >> and tonight, a baltimore city fire paramedic has been suspended with pay. sean white has been charged with two counts of second degree assault. david collins joins us from fire headquarters downtown with the details. david? >> charging documents indicate the paramedic pushed the patient

down, slapped her and grabbed her by the throat and some of the assault was captured on videotape. according to police, the paramedic assaulted and intoxicated woman. lycee it happened during a call to render aid. police accuse her of -- accused -- police accuse him of slapping the woman. these cameras captured some of the incident on tape. the firefighter chief disagrees with the police version of the incident. what did you see on the tape? " there is no audio on the tape. what i see on the tape is -- >> there is no audio on the tape. what i see on the tape is a combative patient. to i think the care was of the utmost? no. do i think he deserves to be thrown in jail? absolutely not. >> hoffman says that the matter

should have been handled internally by the fire department. >> it is a personnel matter in which the person has rights, but we are limited as to what we can -- . >> police are right that the observations of the co-worker are consistent with the video. the video shows the co-worker walking away, clearly distressed. employees at the apartment complex with the surveillance video was captured say the police viewed the tape last week. white's co-worker told police "when the patient began to mouth off, he grabbed her by the back of the head and pushed her face down onto the stretcher." it alleges that she was not being combative as reflected on the videotape? >> i beg to differ.

funds, and bankruptcy forced a maryland nursing home to close, and many workers had to fight to get their final paycheck. >> and they are trying to get other benefits they are still owed as well. >> healthcare coverage another issue here? >> that is right. some of these workers expected health care through the rest of this month. and then went to see their doctors or the bill prescriptions, but they found that coverage ended last month. >> it left all of us at -- in a bind. >> the doors are locked at the facility. is officially closed last week. only essential personnel are here. some of the 71 laid-off workers like debra odom are finding that health care benefits disappeared. >> i went to get a refill on my

insulin, and they said that they put in for a whole group termination august 31. >> she was advised her benefits would not end until september 30. harborside, formerly known as ravenwood, announced it was closing. and inspection found numerous fire hazards and safety violations. this is the same facility the state shut down in july 2010 because faulty air-conditioning left residents in sweltering heat. ravenwood healthcare up for bankruptcy in april. >> i think it is awful. >> you are taking care of these patients, coming here every day, cold weather, hot weather, whatever, and they just threw us out like this. >> she and her former co-workers say that they are owed thousands of dollars in vacation and other benefits. 11 news contacted the parent company in baton rouge,

louisiana. be chief financial officer said the workers were paid for work they did. in terms of personal time accumulated, some of not been paid out. she said that 90% of the revenue -- revenue stream was from medicaid and medicare, and the goal is to pay the workers. the workers will get a notice to apply and get on cobra. the company official says as monies due from medicare and medicaid come in, but workers may need to file a claim with the bankruptcy court. wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. in other news tonight, vandalism appears to be targeting mosques in virginia. worshipers at the shenandoah valley and harrisburg found graffiti on the building. on wednesday, the windows of 30 cars were smashed at a mosque

near falls church. authorities are looking into whether these incidents are related to anti-u.s. protests sparked by a film for trying to profit mohammad. in beirut, the leader of the militant hezbollah group urged the process to continue. earlier protests in afghanistan said fires near a u.s. military base and demonstrators clashed with police in pakistan and indonesia. >> this is about politics and world power. this is about what is taking place in these countries. a tremendously complex and painful transition. >> nato has scaled back operations with afghan policeman to reduce local tensions and the risk of insider attacks. >> mitt romney is rebuilding his campaign. after recent polling shows that president obama is making gains.

>> maryland has a new labor secretary tonight. leonard howie will leave the department. he has worked at the state department of human resources. before that, he was the labor department deputy secretary. he will take his new position october 8. >> a heavy hitter in the arts world is pledging support to baltimore city schools. the kennedy center is bringing its any given job program to baltimore. partnerships do exist between our organizations and various schools, but the program would make sure that resources are
