>> that fire happened about three weeks ago. that fire was deemed the result of a molotov cocktail. right now, firefighters have no indication that this fire has anything related in that nature. but they are trying to figure out is how five people died in this fire, including four small children. the cheese is joining us from the fire department. describe what firefighters faced when they arrived. >> when they arrived on the scene, they noticed a two story brick occupied in the dwelling with intense flames coming out of every window and door in the structure. they also noticed that one occupant, an adult man, was trying to save his life by jumping from a second-floor window. we also learned a baby was dropped outside the window to save the baby's life. >> is the baby ok? >> my understanding is that the child is well.

>> but inside of the people were trapped. that is when firefighters rushed in. >> exactly. they took a hand line in to press the fire to get to the second floor. they got the second floor and one firefighter with through the second floor of the way down to the basement level on top of another fire fire. after they were rescued, they went to the second floor and find the westbound four kids in the adult woman, the grandmother, expired inside the home. >> it is no way to determine the cause of the fire at this point, right? >> yes. we are in the preliminary stages of this investigation. i learned the week of 1 to wait until daybreak when the lighting is better to -- learned that we are going to wait until daybreak when the lighting is better. >> it has been a busy night for you guys.

>> this fire started at 2:00 in the morning in the dead of night. firefighters do not know if they furnaces to blame for this fire. it quickly spread. when firefighters arrived, they heard people screaming for help. there are reports that a man had jumped from the second floor. a baby was thrown out of the window to safety. he spoke to family members who were open about who perished in this fire. we will hear that right now. >> the babies are anywhere from 1, 5, 7, 3. my mother is 55. and one of my granddaughters, but she does not want to talk. she threw her baby out of the window and she jumped. she to her baby out of the window and she jumped out. >> the woman that he saw who was wrapped in a blanket -- i cannot

believe she was speaking to us. one of the children who perished was her grandchild. the other woman speaking lost grandchildren and some nieces. these are family members who are still absolutely in shock right now that their loved ones are gone. as for the older woman who was speaking, her name is barbara hopkins. she says her son john ted first and is in the hospital being treated for injuries to -- percy says her husband jumps head -- she says her son jumped head first. he is at the hospital right now being treated for it back injuries. the police say they do not know what started this fire. could this be something in a nefarious nature year that caused this fire? we ask the question because about three weeks ago there was a 5 1/2 mile from here in which

the scene of a deadly fire that claimed the lives of five people, four of them children. this is a tragic story. >> good morning. this fire started at about 2:00 this morning. this is located in northeast baltimore. according to fire officials, when they arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames. we talked to family members who say the ages of the victims are 1, 3, 5, 7, and a 55-year-old grandmother. they also talked about a man who jumped from the second floor, fenty and his head and a baby thrown out of the when the jews -- and a baby thrown out of the window to safety. >> this is not the only fire who sent -- that sent firefighters to the hospital. >> there was another fire
