in place of the best center in the game in maurkice pouncey. he has been terrific. willie colon helps on the double team and run up the gut and everybody in the house knows you're going to run the football and the pittsburgh steelers can still run it and now a little victory formation and well deserved. they have had a great game. >> al: the kneel-down will end it. steelers rushed for 167 yards tonight. they outgained them 431 to 185. the time of possession, almost 37 minutes. they win one on the road and their first division game of the season, so 1-0 in the afc north. and they can start looking up at the baltimore ravens and feeling a whole lot better about things, after the events of this sunday. they go home next week to take on the washington redskins. cincinnati will have a bye week and then face denver.

so the steelers get back to 3-3. the bengals have now lost nine straight to the big boys of the afc north. pittsburgh and baltimore. the players of the game, ben roethlisberger, jonathan dwyer. what a night for dwyer. 17 carries, 122 yards. the steelers more than doubled their per game average on the ground in this game. their average coming in a bit about 75 and they had 167 yards rushing.

and ike taylor was on a.j. green. he had help, but, still, he had the primary assignment and held him to a single catch. ryan clark is on the field along with ben roethlisberger. at the join michele tafoya. >> michele: ben, mike tomless lynn told me at halftime you guys were continually shooting theirselves in the foot. how did you guys overcome that to end up winning this game? >> it was tough. i take a lot on myself. throw a pick, a fumble. put ourselves in too many holes. we had to fight and win this game. we did in in all phases and had each other's back the whole day. >> michele: the running game was productive no redman our mendenhall or pouncey. how did it work? >> next man, take nothing a away from the guys not out there but proud of the way the young guys and other guys stepped up and never a doubt they wouldn't do that. >> michele: you had a meeting with the offensive players this week to talk about the urgency

of winning. what do you think connect that meeting to this win? >> we got to come out and play. we said we wanted to close the game out. missed two opportunities there late in the fourth quarter to close it out and keep our defense out but the last drive kept them off the field like we wanted to do. >> michele: ben, thank you. ryan clark, the one drive in the first half, they had 80 yards. primarily running the ball on the ground. after that, really nothing. what changed? >> just sense of urgency. we kind of understood what they were going to try to do to us. the early success was tough and try to get them off the field. after that, we got our gaps right and able to win the game. >> michele: they have a huge offensive weapon in a.j. green yet you held them to pretty much nothing all night. how was that done? >> ike followed him all around and coach lebeau gave us calls we could have guys on top of them and jamming him at the line and safeties over the top and gave us opportunities to make plays and deter andy from throwing him the ball. >> you come in here 2-3 and now

win this ball game. and as ryan clark just mentioned, i thought dick lebeau called an outstanding game too. he gave ike taylor a lot of help and dared cincinnati to beat them with other weapons and really took a.j. green away. >> so in many respects, especially in the second half, the steelers put it all together tonight. we have talked a lot about the afc today and tonight. what, in your view, was the big store coming out of the nfc? >> i think we have to look at the nfc east and the giants have been playing outstanding football. they have had two big wins in a row and been a lot of consternation about dallas but dallas is playing next week at home against the giants and if they win, they will be tied in the loss column and tony romo did an outstanding job against them and played maybe the best game i've seen him play in the opening night win. so the cowboys are right in position, as badly as things have gone the last two weeks. baltimore and arizona, those losses they got the ship righted today and they put themselves in

and that's what i want to see happen to him. if anybody else had did this, they would have locked them up and put them behind bars. >> the city police department have identified the detectives involved. they have been suspended with pay. a deadly crash involving a scooter this afternoon in baltimore county. police say a vehicle and a scooter collided at trapen and church roads. the 47-year-old operator was taken to the hospital where he later died. the incident remains under investigation. police investigate an overnight shooting in baltimore county that happened at 1:45 in the morning at guildhall court in woodlawn. police say they found an adult male inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital. at this hour, his condition is not known and no word on the suspect or possible motive. hours earlier in the city,

police responded to the area of fair view avenue to find a 60-year-old man shot in the head about 11:00. the victim was taken to the hospital by died a short time later. also in this case, no word on a suspect or possible motive. covering the nation, we are learning more about the man who opened fire inside a wisconsin spa this morning leaving three hurt, four dead, including the gunman. radcliffe haughton was the ex-husband of one of the spa's employees. it is unclear if she was one of the victims. police found franklin dead inside the spa. initially there were reports that an explosive device was inside the building but later said that was not the case. the november election just 16 days away and today, the presidential candidates are getting ready for their final

debate, the focus on foreign policy. but each candidate is hoping for a breakout moment that will resonate with voters. >> both campaigns see positive results in the polls right now. on delray beach, florida, governor romney took a break from debate practice to cheer on his staff and played tag football and as he flipped the coins it is like the presidential race right now, hard to tell who exactly has the edge. the latest polls shows the candidates deadlocked nationally at 47% among likely voters. sitting at 47% is a good number for a challenger, not a good number for an incumbent. >> but what counts is like the battle ground states like florida. and ohio. >> if you look at the polling, it's trending our way. >> republicans see romney

people reported seeing water spouts and funnel clouds. the spout lasted between 30 and 90 seconds. in washington state, snow. a winter advisory was in effect in snowqualmie pass. higher elevations could get up to 10 inches of snow. your old stomping grounds, right? >> just down the right. >> looks like winter. >> we are headed the other direction. nice enough day during the day today. temperatures were fall all intenths and purposes right on the normal. 66 was the high and average is 65. 45 was the low and low or average is 44 for this date. no where near the records of 90 and 26 degrees set a number of years ago. so this was just what you'd expect this time of year, all right?

now, let's look at what we have for temperatures after the highs, 48 at the airport. 56, indianapolis. still 52 at edgewood. frederick's down to 41. oakland, 43. 41, someone may drop into the 30's as far as low temperatures are concerned. clear skies, few which is pi clouds over the philadelphia area and more clouds up towards new england and out in the great lakes. high pressure is giving us the good weather right now. there is a front out to the west. a weather system. pieces of that will kind of skid across the area early in the week, but this high pressure is going to dominate the weather for us for the next few days. look at where the highs were today. cool air is reaching down right close to us, but this warm air out to the west and that's moving into the picture, not away. moving into the picture. we are headed up temperature-wise.

overnight, our temperatures will be chilly. a few upper 30's for the lows and mid-40's around the bay. mostly clear skies. these temperatures are typically chilly this time of year, nothing unusual. now we go to the forecast tomorrow, we warm things up a little more. 68-72 the high today. five, six agrees. and a west breeze at five to 10 miles an hour. winds will be light. one-foot chop on the open waters of the bay. the future cast shows the dry conditions. watch the timeline. the weather out to the west will catch up to us in some degree as a little disturbance passes to our north and might be strong enough to throw something down our way in the nature of clouds, a shower or so but not a huge

rain threat. the week ahead is dry. down in the tropics, we have a weather developing, the question will it become sandy? it will be the next tropical storm name. the european model shows that storm coming north fairly close to the coast. the american model for long-range forecasting, doing a split and coming in. would sandy some time next week become a nor'easter? it's a long way off. 70 tomorrow, 76 on tuesday. very slight chaps for a sprinkle or shower. close to 80 on thursday. and by the end of next weekend. rain comes our way and then a lot of questions because of sandy. >> this is 11 sports. >> the st. louis cardinals proved a nightmare to try to
