thursday after they were acquitted on a citation of turning it -- furnishing alcohol to minors. 18-year-old brianna franco was killed in the crash. >> this was a complete tragedy, but it was also a tragedy they were charged as part of this unfortunate incident. the judge's decision clearly exonerated them of any wrongdoing. >> in the early morning hours of january 28, police say 19-year- old britney walker was struck and driving the wrong way on route 50 and slammed into davis's car. witnesses testified that did not know where the alcohol came from, and one witness said neither mrs. arango nor joshua gave them alcohol. >> there has never been any evidence to support the charges in this case, but it was a high

publicity case. i understand that law enforcement was under a lot of pressure to correct most witnesses testified that only saw joshua in passing and only saw mrs. franco as they were leaving the party. the judge granted the motion for acquittal, saying she had to base the decision only on the testimony given in court, and none of which pointed to them furnishing the alcohol. >> i think we should give them the benefit of the doubt and just think about what they have gone through. they lost their daughter brianna in this crash, and today brought back painful and terrible memories. >> there could still be civil lawsuits as a result of the crash. >> three people were killed in a crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer in howard county. it happened on route 1 near meadowridge road around 6:00 this morning. police say a chevy impala was headed north on route 1 when it

collided with a tractor-trailer that was headed south. all the people killed were inside the car. the crash shut down route 1 in both directions as police conducted their investigation. police officers will launch a massive effort to get drunk drivers off the road. it is called project solo, which stands for saving our loved ones. it starts tomorrow and the officers will hit the road arresting impaired drivers. >> this is operations saving our loved ones. it targets roadways where we have had lots of crashes and made lots of arrests. we are looking for that impaired driver and we want to remove him from the roadway. if you are out there driving drunk this weekend on target roadways, you will be arrested.

>> an active duty member of the u.s. navy was shot and killed last night in south baltimore. family members say he and his brother were unloading groceries for their grandmother at the time. according to police, two men approached the brothers and one of the suspects opened fire before escaping in a dark vehicle. there is no motive or suspects at this time. alonzo was described as the smart one in the family and they are understandably heartbroken. >> he made it out of the hood, did something good, and came back to the united states for this. he did not deserve any of this at all. >> police urge anyone with information about this crime to call the homicide unit. metro crimestoppers is offering a $2,000 reward. >> some leaders in the jewish community are pushing for voters to back question 6, the same sex

mild in the mountains and on the coast, fairly uniform temperature statewide now in the 60's. many areas will stay around 60 tonight at the clouds fell in and fog redevelops. maybe a little drizzle or sprinkle tonight. high pressure off the new england coast pushing in an east wind. levy did an east wind, you can expect cloudy skies and fog. it is really cold behind this front, 32 in denver and chicago is that 75. so there is a strong temperature drop behind that front. the icloud already showing up off the carolina coast. the cold combine with a tropical system coming from the bahamas, they will compliant -- they will collide in the mid-atlantic region. the hurricane center thinks it

will continue on a northward track. is a healthy category two hurricane right now. it will turn off the coast of the carolinas and and then back into the mid atlantic toward the northeast sunday night into monday. the worst-case scenario would be the european model that has been consistent in insisting on the storm moving our way. there is self east of hatteras at about midnight sunday night into monday morning. then it curves back inland, almost right toward baltimore. it moves right over the baltimore-washington area late monday evening going into tuesday morning and then works it way back into the mounds and the grealakes. the mountains have a chance for some snow and we have the potential for high winds and flooding rains. there may be a little sun in afternoon tomorrow and water temperatures of 64-65 degrees on the bay.
