is going to get the worst case scenario. this is monday night and tuesday we're talking about. the route most of the weekend, there will not be a lot going on -- threw out most of the weekend, there will not be a lot going on. over on the right-hand side of your screen, you can see the center of the storm. that starts to produce some heavy rain. by the time we get into monday morning. at the center of the storm, it does not come up the chesapeake bay. that is most certainly good news. we're still going to get some heavy rain and wind gusting between 30 and 50 miles per hour. it will be much colder on tuesday, it might even be snowing in parts of maryland. it does not look like it is going to come up the chesapeake bay with a big storm surge. rob is in the middle river,

center open sunday. emergency equipment has been inspected. officials will provide county resident real-time updates through twitter. there will be additional police on patrol. baltimore city emergency planners are going through a similar check list. >> to see if there is an additional outreach that needs to be done to make sure everything is lined job. >> gov. martin o'malley has already signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency. this provides the authority to do a number of things, including activating the maryland national guard. >> we make sure the communications equipment is ready. we're the utility hitter for maryland to and the citizens. >> bge crews are marshaling for action as well. they spent the day stocking their vehicles.

interactive radar. you can see how to prepare for power outages. find all on wbaltv.com. >> there is an arrest warrant tonight for the mother of one of the teenagers who admitted responsibility in the shooting death of monae turnage. the warrant accuses veronica alford of trying to cover up the shooting and trying to hide the victim's body. >> obstructing and injuring a police investigation is one of the allegations against veronica alford. police accuse her of being an accessory after the fact. >> every time i think about what they did to her, i cannot help but cry. >> she expressed the extreme sadness she and other family members feel because of for granddaughter's death. monae turnage was shot inside an east baltimore home on march 3 of this year.

two boys accepted responsibility. the older boy admitted accidentally shooting her. the younger boy is being monitored by the court. an arrest warrant has been issued for the mother of one of the boys. the warrant accuses veronica alford of hiding the ak-47 that was used in the shooting. their investigation indicated the weapon had been removed by the defendant from the basement of the home and put into a 2008 gmc truck, and operated by the defendants daughter's boyfriend. that boyfriend was the baltimore city police officer. the warrant accuses her of helping to hide the body and says dna analysis of the victim's clothing indicated that the defendant helped lift the victim and removed her from the house in an attempt to cover up the crime. the attorney says her family

members are pleased the investigation continues. they're still waiting to receive an autopsy report. >> we have called the state's attorney's office. we filed a freedom of information request. we've called the medical examiner's office. what we know now, we thought the criminal investigation had been terminated. now we find out from the medical examiner's office that the autopsy is not being released because of the ongoing criminal aspect of the case. >> veronica alford is expected to turn herself in this evening. >> coming up, will there be school on monday? more on that and how area schools are getting ready for hurricane sandy. >> things are going to be quiet for the next few days. right now, 67 at the airport.

tonight so we can do all the backups and did everything preserved. >> as for possible closings, here is the very latest. school officials across the state say they are monitoring the storm and will try to get the word out to parents by way of the internet and automated telephone systems as soon as that decision is made. >> in other words, we do not know and they do not know. as soon as we know, we will tell you. >> this is a complicated situation. you are taking a tropical system and you are going to turn it into a nor'easter. that transition is so complicated, the computer models are having a difficult time knowing what to do with it. today, things have shifted a lot and i feel a little better about this. >> when you feel better, we feel better. >> i am not saying that we will miss the storm, but we will probably miss the worst of it.

67 right now at the airport. things are going to be quiet tonight. i am talking about monday night and tuesday. this is three days away. there is a little cloud cover out there this evening. let's talk about the storm. it is barely of hurricane, 75 miles per hour. there are no banding features showing up on the satellite, it does not look like a hurricane. it is blocking its way through the bahamas at the present -- walking its way to the bahamas at the present time. the jet stream is going to dig way down the east coast and sandy is going to grab some of that cold air. it will turn itself into a nor'easter. a tropical system has the same temperature all the way around the storm. this will not be a hurricane by the time it gets to us.

the computer models have been having difficulty deciding where this is going to go. as of today, this is the latest plot. this is important. even though it will not be a hurricane, it will carry that a big wall of water an elaborate 10 or 12 foot storm surge. -- it will still have 810 or 12-foot storm surge. these four computer models take it up to new york city monday night and tuesday morning. the won the national weather service uses a lot takes it all the way up to boston. after it comes onshore, it is such a huge storm, we will see heavy rain, wind gusts between 30 and 50 miles per hour, and possibly some flooding. at least we will miss the worst

of it. if it came up the bay, we're talking about a gigantic storm surge, but i do not think that is going to happen. tonight, at temperatures will drop back into the 50's. tomorrow, mostly cloudy, a chance for a few rain showers in the evening. the rain comes in on sunday. this is the precursor, up 50% chance for showers. the brunt of the storm comes in on monday and tuesday. flooding rains possible. it will get colder. you did not typically see that with a tropical system. 48 on tuesday, there could be some snow in the mountains. halloween, the storm will start to taper off, a 40% chance for rain showers. >> this is 11 sports. >> he announced he had been

as a pastor, my support for question 6 is rooted in my belief that the government should treat everyone equally. i wouldn't want someone denying my rights based upon their religious views, so i shouldn't deny others based upon mine. it's about fairness. i support this law because it doesn't force any church to perform a same sex marriage if it's against their beliefs. and that's what this is about. protecting religious freedom and all marylanders equally under the law. join me in voting for question 6.
