in the dark this morning after sandy makes landfall. >> more than 209,000 b.g.e. customers a without power. most of those outages in anne arundel county and harford county. we will be checking in with a b.g.e. spokesman in just a few minutes. so for sandy is being blamed for two deaths in maryland. a tree fell into a house in pasadena. a man was pronounced dead at the scene. >> we have complete team coverage. let's get a look at what is in store for us from tony pann. >> good morning. things are settling down.

you can see it on the radar. there is the circulation around hagerstown. the wind may still be gusting. but i think the big story will be the temperatures. 43 right now at the airport. the wind chills are in the 30's. rain is likely this morning. as we go through the day, the showers will start to dissipate. there could be a few snowflakes mixed in. that is the big thing for me today. it feels like a winter day. >> one area we have been tracking has been ocean city.

>> ava marie braved the elements all day yesterday. a big difference today. >> what a difference. the wind is not as strong. we could get some gusts up to 60 miles per hour. there was a little bit of debris and damage in ocean city. this is a piece of roofing. notices a large piece of roofing. that was the bigger concern yesterday. nobody was injured with that. you'll still see this strewn about in ocean city. coastal flooding is no longer a

concern in ocean city. the waves are not as big as we saw yesterday. there's still a flood watch. we had some light drizzle this morning. there could still be an additional inch of rain throughout the day today and into tomorrow morning. that will add to the flood concerns. ava marie, wbal-tv 11 news. back to you, tim. >> we are along the banks of the jones falls. you can see how high it was at one point overnight. this water came over across the guard rail.

we are here in baltimore city. concerns about the weather. you can see leaves along the roadway. the shelters remained open. this is always a spot -- it is still raging. it is continuing to rain and is a lot cooler. i put on another layer. live along the banks of the jones falls, back to you guys. >> a major problem today will be the roads. >> some wires are down. sarah call has been tracking the road situation -- sarah caldwell has been tracking the road

situation. >> there is a travel restriction. a few things to watch for. to breed will be a big issue as well as flooding -- debris will be a big issue as well as flooding. let's take a look at some maps. there is some flooding near belcamp. we have some closures in elkridge along 103. 176 and central avenue in the glen burnie area. let's take a look at a graphics. no service on mta, mark, or metro -- marc or metro.

the bay bridge is still closed. we have some live cameras. the roads will continue to be wet. sal f. down route 13 is still closed along with eastbound 50 in ocean city. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. jennifer franciotti is live in reisterstown with the latest at mema. >> i'm here with jim brown. talk about the continuing concern. >> the funding issues. -- the flooding issues. we want people to stay off the roads. if you do not need to be on the roads, please stay off.

our hospitals have held up well. we had one hospital on a generator. we have a standard supply going. we have had no problems with overcrowding or power problems. >> answering a normal type calls. >> is been a normal day -- it has been a normal day. it has not been an over burden. we have been lucky in maryland. we still haven't made it through the woods yet. it has been a great situation for the people of maryland. it would have been terrible. multiple crashes.

even with the speed reductions come out there were a few crashes. people stayed off the roads and we were lucky. >> this is not over. >> baltimore city still has travel restrictions until noon today. please stay off the roads. >> thank you so much. the power outages have to do with statewide power outages. it is broader statewide, about three under 50,000 people without power -- 350,000 people without power. >> good timing. a little more than 200,000 people without power.

>> it took a hard hit into a harford and anne arundel county. in harford county, about half the county is out of service. we still have people that may be waking up with outages that were not reported. people have been out working. >> even in the dark. >> a small group was working. they could put the bucket up and was protected by trees. we will do the same thing today. will not be in a position where the bucket trucks will be prohibited from working. we will be out in force.

it's a good strategy. we were ab to restore 65,000 customers since yesterday. we were trying to stay ahead of it. >> so many trees came down out during the derecho. not as many downed wires or trees. >> we had a little bit of luck. we cannot get too comfortable. we still have wind today and tomorrow. we will be dealing with the a fax 4 weeks and months -- we will be dealing with the f effects for weeks and months to come.

the wind will still be gusting between 20 and 30 miles per hour. the high tides could come in slightly above average this morning. most likely on the western shore. it will stay in the 40's all day. snow will continue in western maryland. there could be a snowflake around baltimore. it will be a chilly day today. >> sandy affected much of the northeast. >> one of the hardest-hit areas was in new york city. an entire facade of a building fell off. the second and third stories of

>> officials are urging people to stay home today. sarah caldwell has more. >> the big deal will be the cleanup, the aftermath from the storm. flooding is still an issue. and power outages. we have some flooding still affecting area roadways. we start with the belcamp area. we have some important reminders -- you should not be out there unless you're an essential worker. the rest of the area bridges are now open. in the belcamp area, we have some flooding.

there is some flooding in jarrettsville at route 24. flooding is an issue in glen burnie. here's a quick, live look at traffic. 95 looking okay. the roads are wet. we encourage you to stay off the roads. this is the beltway approaching the key bridge. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> good morning. it was quite a storm. the remnants are drifting through western maryland. it will be kind of windy. then it will settle down. snow will continue in the mountains. an additional 6-12 inches today

in garrett county. the accumulating snow will stay west of hagerstown. i wouldn't be surprised if there was a snowflake around baltimore, especially in the northwest suburbs. temperatures in the 40's. it feels like it is in the 30 's. that is what you want to dress for. the wind is coming from the south and southwest this time. that will push some water into the bay. the high tide could be a little bit of a problem with minor problem. the center of the storm is

not as bad as yesterday. let's take a look at the radar. we are still in the rain. we picked up seven, eight inches of rain. there could still be some minor flooding. the wind will be coming out of the south today. 43 at the airport. it feels like it is 35. chill. the windshie the wind will be diminishing. scattered showers this afternoon. 39 is the overnight low temperature. that is the big story. the seven-day forecast in just a

few minutes. >> kim dacey is live in annapolis. >> much nicer this morning. >> i do not know if i would call a nice. it is much improved from yesterday. we had some pretty strong wind and rain. the wind is gusting from time to time. there is a steady rainfall. it is cold. interesting conditions out here. the low-lying areas will be flooded again this morning in annapolis. we saw a few areas where water was covering the roads. officials are looking at the

>> jennifer franciotti has been at mema singh as did a time last since dinnertime las t night. >> all of the agency's work together and to respond where needed. 45 different agencies represented here. fema has a representative here. one representative said she came in from chicago to check on the situation. we got an update a little while ago. the hospitals on generators are no longer on the backup generators and are working on full power.

the hospitals have not been overcrowded. ems workers answering typical calls like they would during any kind of a rain event. marylanders have heeded the warnings to stay off the roadways. if people do not continue to listen, the roadways would be packed and there could be more accidents, making work harder for emergency responders. the key bridge is open. the bay bridge continues to stay close td. we go to sarah caldwell. i hope you have some water with you. >> let's bring you up to date. there are some restrictions in

terms of driving. you are not supposed to be out there until noon today. the cleanup will take some time. if traffic lights are out, treated as a four way stop sign -- treat it as a four way stop sign. we have some downed wires on constitution road. route 7 in belcamp, tracking some flooding conditions. closures in effect in elkridge. central avenue in glen bernie. we start with some updates. there is no mta services and a metro service. mandatory traffic restriction until noon today.

the rest of the area bridges are now open but with wind restrictions. here's a quick, live look at traffic. wet roads continue to be a problem. the beltway approaching the key bridge, which is open. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. now we check in live with tim tooten. >> it is still raining. we're here on the banks of the raging jones falls. it has subsided a lot. where i'm standing out was covered with water and over the banks. you can see the parking lot this was completely covered.

showers. it will get better as we go through the day today. >> more than a dozen people have died from the storm. >> millions are without power this morning. danielle leigh is in cape may, new jersey. >> violent ways toppled over sea walls. sandy sent a record storm surge into new york city. >> this is a once in a long time storm. the search is very high. >> emergency evacuations. floodwaters destroyed a portion of the world famous boardwalk in atlantic city. two dozen people were rescued in

a shelter that lost power. >> to anyone else, the governor offered little hope. >> this is now your responsibility. you need to hunker down and get to the highest point possible. >> the storm stretched out over 700 miles. trees and power lines were torn down. at least two homes in connecticut were destroyed by fire. several people have died because of senate and millions have no power. more than 12,000 flights have been canceled. and this storm is not finished yet. the damage has been put somewhere between $10 billion and $20 billion.

down because they are worried about flooding. we're on 32nd straight. nobody is out on the roads. there is debris in storm drains. that is the latest of what is happening here. i was glued to all the coverage yesterday. even when i was taking a break. this was an incredible storm. >> we are lucky that it made a turn and hit new jersey. thank you, ava. nice job in ocean city. things will settle down today. it is drifting through a western maryland near hagerstown. rain showers will be likely off

and on today and we'll have wind gusts over 30 miles per hour. things will improve today. this is a bigger story in maryland than the rain. had seven, a bank inches of rain.-- we had seven, eight inches of rain. maybe up to a foot of additional snow today. the accumulating snow will state west of hagerstown. the could be some snowflakes around baltimore and a couple of neighborhoods. it feels like 34, 35 degrees when you figure in the wind chill. dress for temperatures in the 30's.

the wind is coming at of the south and southwest. that will push some of the water up the chesapeake bay. high tide could be a little above average. water is still draining into the bay. this storm will wind itself down. the coverage on the rain will diminish. a steady rain this morning. it will be windy and chilly. the wind will die down this afternoon. important day coming up tomorrow. it is halloween. 30% chance for a couple of showers. chilly and quiet going into the beginning of the weekend. 5:52.
