related. there are blizzard conditions in the western part of the state. tomorrow governor martin o'malley will tour one of the hardest-hit areas. team coverage of sandy's aftermath tonight with important information involving insurance claims. plus updated weather conditions. we began as sheldon dutes with more on tidal flooding. >> we are in fells point in this area has been prone to flooding, but we have not seen any that flooding tonight. we drove around all parts of fells point that are prone to flooding and did not see any. folks in this neighborhood are breathing a sigh of relief that it did not happen but there are other aspects of sandy left to see. we deathly dodged a bullet compared to those to the north

and west of us. from the 2 feet of snow that fell in western maryland to the flooding in parts of ocean city and delaware, sandy definitely laughter market she made landfall. low-lying areas to run the baltimore metro area, people had to wade through their property to assess the damage. people in wilson's. are seeing flooding in their neighborhood but they are glad the storm system was not as bad as isabel was. >> compared to isabel, this is a piece of cake. >> compared to isabel, this is mild. this is nothing. >> the choppy waves of the bay were another reminder that sandy had passed through the area. i had the opportunity to ride around the bay with the coast guard this afternoon as a search for damage and debris. we have not seen any recreational boats out on the water today and the coast guard says that is a good thing

because floating debris could present a danger to drivers. >> we tell everybody to stay away from the water until all of this passes and we get most of the debris cleared out and until it can be set to go out on the water again. >> you are taking a life looked at this intersection in fells point. this area was blocked off earlier this evening by city vehicles. the blockades were lifted within the past hour. tom tasselmyer standing by in the storm's center with an update on the weather. >> we are watching the storm gradually pull away. we are in good shape here. it should be getting up to about havre de grace as we speak. tomorrow morning's times might still be little all, high side,

but overall it showing rapid signs of weakening. there is still some snow in the mountains but conditions will gradually improve. for the most part, after tonight's tied, looking pretty good down there in fells point. we are past the big threat around here. we will continue to monitor the situation and see week in dixie when we can finally expect some sunshine. >> sunshine would be nice. conditions continue to improve and many people will be returning to work tomorrow. >> many schools will be back in session tomorrow, but lingering power outages will keep some classroom closed. >> anne arundel county schools will be opening two hours late. 17 schools in the district will remain closed. baltimore county is opening on time but 17 schools there will also be closed. you can check the updates at the

7 inches an ocean city. easton was a jackpot area as far as rain fall. from one single storm system making landfall. the center of the storm is now northwestern pennsylvania and drifting toward canada. strong high pressure over the north atlantic -- over the north atlantic blocked it and turned it inland. there is not much room for it to move around. it will get up into eastern canada and began to weaken in intensity. the rain is starting to slowly break up and fall apart as the storm gets a little weaker and drift farther to the north. still broad circulation is generating slow up and down the appellation for west virginia. showers will continue to work their way through here. there is still a blizzard warning it was reissued out in garrett county.

temperatures near or below freezing in many areas. a heavy, wet snow is problematic. hagerstown at 36 degrees. it is possible some of our rain showers could mix with some wet snowflakes. 35-41 by morning with like southerly winds. the storm slowly macon's way up to the great lakes and getting up into canada. still some snow likely in the highest elevations of west virginia and western maryland. east of the mountains will get less of the jig less precipitation and hopefully things will quiet down before the little ones go out to do ing. trick-or-treater i thursday night into friday we should start to see the cloud cover breaking up and we will have a son your forecast for the weekend.
