for working so hard. >> it is the last day of his last campaign. >> i just want to say thank you to the american people. i also want to say to governor romney, congratulations on a spirited campaign. i know the his supporters are just as engaged in just as enthusiastic. >> voter turnout seems heavy. this was colorado, one of the battleground states. other swing states, new hampshire and virginia, voters lined up in many polling places. wisconsin, snow on election day. this was cleveland airport at midday. romney and why and headed to a volunteer center in ohio -- romney and ryan. joe biden stopped in a restaurant. just a few more hours and they get the first returns.

>> what are the states to watch? virginia, ohio, florida. steve handelsman, wbal-tv 11 news. >> so far, no major issues at the polls, although there were some complaints about long lines. that is a very positive sign for a large voter turnout. mr. robinson is live in northeast baltimore with more on that story. >> it certainly is a good sign -- lisa robinson is live in northeast baltimore. >> right now we don't have any lines here at northwood elementary school, but inside this school, for different precincts votes. thousands of people are voting here at this particular location. i did just check inside and the lines are growing as people are getting off work. even though the lines are long, the voters are eager.

>> it is a good thing. last time we voted, it was not like that at all, but this time there has been a steady flow all day long. but everywhere there are long lines. for the most part, the orders are patients -- voters are patient. >> if you want to vote, you put up with it. >> a close presidential race and some huge questions on the ballot brought so many out. >> there has been a lot of controversy about question 7 and question six. that is why i am out here to voice my own opinion and support hopefully the right choice. >> everyone has a different opinion about what the right choices, but there seems to be a consensus that most just want to be done with it all. >> i cannot wait.

i am glad it is going to be over. >> just over and over, just bombarding you. people should be able to make up their own minds from the facts. they don't need all the backstabbing and all that. >> let me give you an idea of what the turnout is. i just got off the phone with the state board of elections and i wanted to correct some information they gave me earlier in terms of the numbers. statewide, including early voting, turnout is 62% statewide. 52 percent on and baltimore city and in baltimore county the number would be 58%. we expect those numbers to grow as the evening goes on. if you are at home with a loved one and thinking the lines are too long, tell them come on, get out there. even if they are in line at 8:00, you can still vote. the polls will be open until 8:00. >> the home of the ravens is

being commandeered tonight but maryland's top democrat. there continues 13 coverage at m&t bank stadium. what is going on there? >> right now they are literally preceding the ovens for the celebration. we can expect a lot of big wigs here. we are expecting podium speeches at around 9:15 tonight and celebrations, because none of the races for the democrats are exceptionally tight. they are keeping an eye on the president returns from virginia. those polls close first in the nation, and then from pennsylvania. they will also be keeping an eye on ballot questions which are very interesting and have brought a lot of voters to the polls. many are watching to see how maryland votes. they will be keeping an eye on the race for roscoe bartlett

seat. they say he is expected to be unseated tonight, which would be huge, by someone who is running for the very first time. that is the big news from democratic party headquarters. right now they are getting ready for celebrations starting at about 9:15 tonight. >> the presidential election is not the only topic on the minds of maryland voters. they are being asked to weigh in on several key issues, including same-sex marriage and also expanded gambling. david collins joins us live from prince george's county. >> behind-the-scenes there is nervous energy. how of question 7 has feared at this point is honestly just a guess. what is known for sure is that the campaign for and against question 7 has hit the $90 million mark.

mgm is pushing question 7 because it wants to operate a casino at national harbor. question seven must pass by majority vote both state wide and in prince george's. it allows casinos and table games at all gambling sites. mgm plans to invest $800 million in the casino and hire 4000 people. national harbor as a resort feel to it. hotels, shops, waterfront docks. if it fails and st. george's, he says he will respect the people's voice and go home. he does not envision the issue coming up for many years to come. governor martin o'malley raise the possibility that a question seven veils, the general assembly and have to raise taxes to meet future education spending levels. supporters will not start arriving until after 8:00 this evening. it will include a lot of in gm

folks and prince george's county executive mr. baker. he has been out front on this issue, pushing hard since january. david collins, wbal-tv 11 news. >> now to the controversy still referendum question 6 in which voters are asked whether or not to hold the new state law legalizing same sex marriage. kai reed is downtown with supporters. our supporters optimistic about the outcome? >> i would say optimistic. there are a lot of smiles and laughter as people are setting up for the party that does not start until 8:00 tonight. it will be a tight race with the potential for being a historic night nationwide. three other states besides maryland have same-sex marriage on the ballot tonight. no state has ever approved it at the polls. we have another matter to look at, connecticut, new york, new

hampshire, vermont, and washington, d.c have legalize same-sex marriage either by legislation or a court order, never at the polls. i spoke with campaign leaders within the last half hour and they say they feel confident. they are not paying attention to the post-election polling numbers. pastor derrek mccoy from maryland marriage alliance was out stumping for last-minute votes late this afternoon as well. no one is taking this for granted. they know it will be a very tight race. at least here, they are getting ready for a party. they are feeling very enthusiastic and confident, but they know it will likely come right down to the wire. kai reed, wbal-tv 11 news. other issues include

>> still no word to not on what sparked a for alarm fire at a five story building in fells point. this is the second time in several months that that building caught fire could last as back in june. more than 100 firefighters were called to the scene. no injuries were reported. it looks like some strong weather is headed our way. >> the forecasts have been predicting a possible nor'easter for several days now. lowell melser is scoping out the conditions and ocean city. >> it is hard to believe but we are back here in ocean city about a week after sandy blew through. we are seeing sustained winds of

around 30 miles an hour with wind gusts as stronger than that. all week, construction crews have been picking up sand and moving it back out onto the beach. this is a very daunting task. i have been talking with ocean city officials today and they say emergency personnel are monitoring this storm very closely. so far there is no emergency plan in place, but that could change within the next 24-48 hours. there's no doubt that the storm will suspend rehabilitation efforts going on on the boardwalk and cleanup efforts. >> we will have to hold some of our efforts in restoring some of the pickups from what we saw with sandy. we might see some more erosion and we are likely to see flooding again in the downtown area because of the water backed up in the bay. >> the biggest concern here in ocean city will be flooding.

high tide is expected to hit at around 1:50 tomorrow afternoon. with the heavy rain and wind, it should be a tough situation down here at the inlet and the lower part of ocean city. we will keep a close eye on the store and be here through thursday. we will bring you reports throughout. lowell melser, wbal-tv 11 news. >> tom tasselmyer is tracking the storm in the weather center. what is going on, and how soon should we be looking for this storm? >> it looks like the worst will roll past ocean city tomorrow night. we will feel some of the effects, but the farther east to go, the more you will notice the system coming up along the eastern seaboard. the clouds are swirling air over georgia and down toward north florida. right now we are just under the

high, thin cloud cover. precipitation will move in during the day tomorrow. was a chilly election day. the average is 60 and we only had 45. the morning low was 20. a hard freeze in many areas and it never got much above freezing in some areas. a very cold weather pattern out there. tonight, not as cold as last night, but chillier than you would expect for this time of year. winds out of the north and northeast at 5-50 miles an hour. the storm we are tracking is just now organizing. -- at 5-15 miles an hour. high pressure to the north is applying some cold air. out west they are enjoying a really warm weather pattern. unusually warm weather there, while we are locked into the cold. the jet stream will help energize the storm as it moves

up off the mid-atlantic coast during the day tomorrow. east of ocean city tomorrow morning, and then moving up toward long island and southern new england during the day. that rose moister back into the cold air and the potential is there for some snow to mix in with the cold rain during the evening hours tomorrow. ocean city will catch some pretty good winds and rain from the system, too. it is just kind of breezy day with the possibility of some rain if it stays off shore. we are in for a warming trend at the end of the week. tomorrow, windy conditions from delaware down to the eastern shore. wind advisories are in effect in those locations and when the rain mixes with that and changes to snow, light accumulations are possible. we could see a little bit of

rain are mixed snow around here, but most of the action will be closer to the coast. another chillier than normal day tomorrow with rain and wet snow especially on the eastern shore. a small craft advisory on the bay tomorrow with four-foot waves on the open waters of the bay tomorrow. i and western maryland, the storm is too far off the coast to really impact them. -- out in western maryland. as you go farther east, then you get more of the storm. it will taper off thursday morning. maybe ending as a flurry on the beach thursday morning. the forecast around here, once the storm leaves, temperatures begin to climb. 67 friday, 67 saturday. a good-looking veterans day monday with highs in the 60's.

>> this is 11 sports. >> in owings mills, preparations have begun for their game sunday against the oakland raiders. it is hard to say how the reagan should builder defensive game plan this week. carson palmer threw the ball 61 times last week in a loss to tampa bay. typically the ravens would go with stopping the run first against mcfadden. it is unclear if he will play on sunday, which makes it equally unclear on how the ravens will go about stopping the raiders. john harbaugh knows one thing not to expect this sunday are most sundays for that matter. that is a lopsided outcome. >> i am all for blowouts, as long as we are the ones doing the blowing out. blowouts are tough to come by.
