shut down now at maryland avenue and st. paul's street. the road has literally buckled. there's also a lot of mud and debris for several blocks around here. we know pg&e is on the scene. the baltimore city police department is also on the scene. but we will send it down on the ground to jennifer. >> we are at the media staging avenue for anrth update on the situation. let's get to the video so you can see what it looked like at 8:15 a.m. this morning. they believe that a 60-inch water main broke just after 8:00 a.m. this morning. for two hours, that water

flooded the area like a raging river. a flooded a nearby parking lot. we are told that fire department has gone door-to-door to see who is affected by the flooding. some have a to 9 feet of water in their basements. there are no evacuations at this moment, but residents describe what they saw this morning. >> cars down there will get messed up and the stores will not be open. >> i think my neighbor was pouring on -- was pounding on my back door telling me that the water was pouring down. >> dcw tell us that they were able to partially torn off the water. they do not want to turn it

completely off because it would cause the street to completely caved in. tell us what needs to be done at this point. >> we have to be precautionary right now. we have gas lines and electrical lines down there. while we have not had a break, we don't want to have a break occurred. we have shut off electricity to some folks in the area. that is at a precaution. we have also shut off gas service to treat customers. same thing, just precautionary measures. if someone has water in their basement, the biggest thing to do is very carefully get out and not touch any electrical equipment. >> device. amazingly -- good advice. >> dpw tell us that folks should expect low water pressure. right now, they are now giving a time limit on when there will be will to make repairs because

>> another strong storm is moving into our area, but we're back in ocean city. what is it like at the moment? >> we were saying that yesterday. we cannot believe that we were back here. currently in london ocean city, temperatures are 39 degrees. -- currently inland in ocean city, temperatures are 39 degrees.

the sistine wind is 15 miles per hour -- sustained wind is 15 miles per hour. we see waves anywhere from 60 to 9 feet, which is exactly what we saw -- from 6 feet to 9 feet, which is exactly what we saw with sandy. they got the majority of the sand out of the parking lot. they are concerned that, during high tide, it will push back sand that game. as far as ocean city officials, they are still monitoring the storm and will make decisions on any sort of emergency preparations later today. it is not super storm sandy, but the waves crashing and certainly remind you of it. a nor'easter is expected to hit the ocean city area later this afternoon with sustained winds of 30 miles per hour and gusts of 40 miles per hour with a rain-snow mixed. they're still monitoring the

storm and have not put any emergency plans in place. the biggest concern will be flooding, especially areas below 17th street associated with storm surge. we spoke with a local volunteer firefighter about how he and other emergency personnel are readying themselves for the storm. >> we met with them last night. they told us it would basically be flooding and stuff like that, nothing really big like what we had with sandy. >> once again, a live look at the ocean. it is pretty choppy out there. you definitely don't want to go out today. high tide hits here in ocean city around 1:50 p.m. we will monitor it and have updates for you at 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. let's head back to the studio for a look at where this storm is going.

>> it is so sad to see that area affected by another storm. i know a lot of these banks have been damaged because of sandy. thank you for your report. as far as some of those in baltimore, that is the big question, just up for will be precipitation get inland. as the storm continues to track off the coast to make as well offshore of ocean city right now and will be moving north and west, moving further toward long island later today. but as far as the precipitation goes, it is mostly along the coast right now. we can see heavy snowfall in new jersey. so this storm is backing a punch already. even with a closer look at the radar, you can see all the snow to our north and east and it continues to fall in east of delaware right now. the majority of the rain is along the coastal areas, the inland areas. baltimore has not seen much at this point. rain issee, the current muc

near hartford county. this is impacting -- this is not impacting baltimore city. ocean city is experiencing light rain at this moment, nothing too heavy just yet. the storm system will continue to track up north. that is why we think we will miss the worst of it. the storm will stay away from baltimore. if we get anything come it will become the second -- from the secondary low. the question is whether it will come in as a wintry mix. 23 m.p.h. the guests in ocean city. only gusting to about 11 miles per hour in downtown baltimore. the family what to expect that of a nor'easter, some very strong wind. it is starting to engineer ed wood.

that is about it. in everyone else's -- it is starting to edge in near edgewood. that is about it. everyone else is dry. a light wintry mix possible to the afternoon, especially after sunset. remember, the sun sets just before 5:00 p.m. now. if we get accumulation, it should be on grassy areas. not really expecting too much on the roads. it will be in the northeastern parts of maryland that we should see most of the snow sticking. temperatures will drop into the 30's overnight. we expect temperatures above the freezing mark. that is crucial because it does not allow the snow to stick and it does not allow the roads to i sace up. then we want things back up as we go to the weekend.
