good morning. breaking news. military misbehavior. overnight reports that the commander of u.s. forces in afghanistan, general john allen, is now under investigation. the fbi looking into thousands of, quote, potentially inappropriate e-mails exchanged with the woman who sparked the probe into cia director david petraeus. where will this all lead? costly. one of nascar's most famous drivers, jeff gordon, hit with a hefty fine for his role in this nasty post-race fight. and we've got that one thing. just look at the crowd on our plaza this morning. thousands upon thousands of fans

still pouring in for one direction today, tuesday, november 13th, 2012. from nbc news, this is "today" with matt lauer and savannah guthrie live from studio 1a in rockefeller plaza. and good morning. even the audio guy is excited this morning about our concert on the plaza. just wants to say it three times. we've got one direction here. it is huge, and we do mean huge. >> and just want to say i'm matt lauer, and you're right. huge. we're not going to qualify. our executive producer just called up and talked to us and said that this is without a doubt the largest crowd we have ever had for a concert here in the many years we've been

holding concerts on the "today" show. >> we didn't fill our plaza. we filled all the surrounding streets and city blocks. sorry, nypd, it's absolutely huge, and we'll have a concert for the fans who have been waiting since last week in some instances. >> but first breaking news and developments in the breaking scandal that led to the resignation of cia director david petraeus. >> as you might imagine, a lot of players and moving parts to this story, and it's just breaking this morning. a quick review this. all begin when jill kelley, a florida socialite and married mother of three complained about ma racing e-mails. the fbi said it traced those e-mails to this woman, paula broadwell, a married west point graduate and biographer of david petraeus. >> keep with us. that led to the eventual discovery of a romantic relationship between broadwell and general petraeus, and now general john allen is involved over his correspondence with the

original woman, jill kelley. all sounds a little confusing, it is. let's get right to nbc's andrea mitchell who can help us sort it out. andrea, good morning to you. >> reporter: i'll try to do that. yet another military general drawn into an fbi investigation that prompted the resignation of cia director david petraeus. marine general john allen replaced david petraeus as commander in afghanistan last year, but allen has now been caught up in the fbi probe that led to petraeus' resignation as cia director. overnight the pentagon announced allen's nomination to be commander of nato has been delayed and the nomination of his successor in afghanistan speeded up. after military officials announced that 20,000 to 30,000 pages of potentially inappropriate e-mails connected allen to jill kelley, the woman who had first complained to the fbi about harassing e-mails traced to paula broadwell, petraeus' biographer and acknowledged mistress. allen, who is married, denies any wrongdoing, and for now remains commander in afghanistan as the investigation continues.

monday night a team of fbi agents methodically collected boxes and bags of materials from the broadwell home. officials say they wanted to be extra thorough in completing the investigation into whether broadwell had violated a cyber stalking or cyber bullying statute by sending anonymous e-mails to kelley. petraeus is not under investigation. kelley, the target of the harassing e-mails now linked to allen is a surgeon's wife, mother of three and family friend of the petraeuses, a friendship that grew out of kelley's volunteer work for military familiesed a macdill air force base. some of the broadwell e-mails accused kelley of improper socializing with generals in tampa. others include of petraeus' comes and goings raising concerns that someone had access to highly sensitive details of his schedule. further complicating the case, officials say the fbi agent who first launched the investigation, a friend of kelley's, is now himself the subject of an internal fbi probe

for suspected inappropriate behavior, including sending kelley shirtless photos of himself even before the investigation began. central to the case is paula broadwell, an army reservist, and like petraeus a west point graduate seen here in afghanistan embedded on an intelligence mission in 2010. she often cited her access to secrets, including about the assault on the benghazi consulate in this speech only a few weeks ago. >> now, i don't know if a lot of you have heard this, but the cia annex had actually taken a couple of libyan militia members prisoner, and they think that the attack on the consulate was an effort to try to get the prisoners back. >> reporter: cia denies holding any prisoners. meanwhile, en route to australia overnight defense secretary leon panetta, petraeus' predecessor at the cia, became the first administration official to speak about his resignation. >> i think he took the right

step, and i think it's important when you're director of the cia with all of the challenges that face you in that position that, you know, that personal integrity comes first and foremost. >> reporter: house and senate intelligence leaders were not notified until the day petraeus resigned. >> it is very puzzling, and i think it was a mistake because this thing just came so fast and so hard, and since then it's been like peeling an onion every day. another peel comes off and you see a whole new dimension to this. >> reporter: all this severely complicates white house plans for what they hoped would be an orderly transition to a new national security team. they have been considering senator john kerry, who has long wanted to be secretary of state, for defense secretary. the white house has also lock wanted u.n. ambassador susan rice to success hillary clinton, but officials say congressional leaders are now warning them that the controversy over benghazi could complicate her confirmation, and

counterterrorism adviser john brennan is still a possibility, if he wants it, to take over at cia. a lot going on here. savannah. >> complicated is the word of the day. amitch nell washington. thank you. let's turn to retired colonel jack jacobs who is an nbc military analyst. first petraeus, and now general allen involved. on the stunner scale, where do you put this? >> seven. very startling, especially for those people who worked with these officers and known for them for years and years. really quite astonishing. do you know general allen? what is his reputation? >> i don't know him very well. i've met him on several occasions. he's a 1976 honors graduate of the u.s. naval academy. he's got a -- a masters degree from georgetown, from the national war college. he's quite an intellectual actually. a great infantry marine and has had an absolutely stellar

career. all this personal stuff coming out at a very, very difficult time complicates matters, both for our effort in southwest asia and for the upcoming budget battle. >> further complicating it is that he's about to leave as the head of the allied forces in afghanistan and had been due for a new post-as head of the military's efforts in europe. do you think that is likely on hold at this point? >> well, it's on hold now. it has not -- his nomination as the supreme court allied commander europe has not yet been withdrawn, but i wouldn't be surprised if it is withdrawn. i think they want to get through this as quickly as possible. they are likely to shouldn't him off to some other place. let him carry on in afghanistan until they can -- until general dunford takes over, withdraw his nomination to be supreme allied commander of europe, and then have him replaced by somebody else in europe >> i know you've worked closely with general petraeus over the

years. that's somebody that you respect quite a bit. i don't even know what to ask here exactly. what is going on with our generals? is there some kind of culture or subculture that the rest us are not aware of, or is this really something that you think is a true aberration? >> well, i think it is an aberration. i've known general petraeus since he was a cadet at west point, and i was teaching there. i know his wife holly. she's heavily involved in charitable activities. they both are, as a matter of fact, and it does seem like an aberration. it's very difficult to understand how and why all this stuff began and how the investigation got to the point that it was. there were some very interesting questions asked about the fbi's role. the fbi which knew about all of this months ago apparently told nobody about it until everybody else heard about it. i think the congress has plenty of questions to ask the fbi about this, and fewer questions about the people like general

allen and general petraeus. >> all right. colonel jack jacobs, good to get your perspective. as always, sir, thank you. >> with more here's matt. new york congressman peter king is the chairman of the house commit on homeland security. chairman king, it's good to see you. good morning. >> good morning, matt. >> sounds like a movie, doesn't it? sounds like the script of a movie. i don't know whether it's a comedy or drama. what's your initial reaction to what you're hearing this morning? >> it's really a greek tragedy. general betrarks opetraeus, one most drishd generals and general allen, outstanding job in afghanistan, going to go to nato. you're right. this is tragic, the elements of a hollywood movie or trashy novel. bottom line, you're talking about families and outstanding military leaders and the impact it has on the country and also overall questions about the fbi. >> also what about our credibility, not only here in the united states but abroad? >> obviously it's hurt, and

that's -- again, bring it back to the fbi. all the more reason why once this investigation last summer, whenever it was, whenever general petraeus' name came up, i believe the fbi had an absolute obligation to tell the white house, specifically the president, what this involved, and even if general petraeus ended up being totally innocent, i have a great regard for general petraeus, wanted him to run for president, but having said that once his name came up as head of the cia and being investigated by the fbi in a potential possible sex scandal, they had the absolute obligation to tell the president because general petraeus was representing the united states in various countries around the world. he was on a number of missions, negotiating very sensitive arrangements. >> take it one step further. can you think of any good reason why the fbi in conducting this investigation for five months would wait until basically last week to tell the president, until the day that general petraeus resigned as director of the cia to inform members of the house and the senate? >> no.

that is absolutely inexcusable. i'm on the intelligence committee. certainly the chairman of the intelligence community, mike roger and his counterparts as well as the senate intelligence committee, they are always briefed on matters such as this and i discussed this with previous chairmen. they were always briefed. any time something comes close to the investigation of a cia, the committee chairmen and ranking members are supposed to be notified and for good reason. not for ego or turf battles so we'll know what's going on if we're going to effectively monitor the cia. >> you know a lot about the law. does it surprise you that this private citizen, jill kelley, down in florida could spark such an investigation with the fbi? >> no, it really is. i mean, this is not the type of case that usually becomes a federal investigation. cyber harassment between two women or between any two people, certainly involved a love triangle or whatever it was, should not rise to this level, and i understand why someone feels aggrieved but the fact is i'm not aware of cases like this

going, the fbi conducting a federal investigation. listen, we're in cyber wars with iran and china which is serious enough without putting personnel on something like this, so i am very, very surprised by that and how this thing escalated so far. >> congressman peter king. mr. chairman, thanks so much for your time this morning. >> matt. thank you as always, matt. >> want to turn to get the rest of the morning's top stories. enmorales is over at news desk. natalie, good morning to you. >> good morning, savannah and matt. good morning, everyone. investigators on the scene of an explosion that killed two people in an indianapolis neighborhood. say a faulty furnace may be to blame. the owners at the site of the blast were not there at the time. congress returns to business today after a seven-week hiatus. president obama is starting off the so-called lame duck session with a renewed push to lawmakers and labor officials today to avoid the looming fiscal cliff set to hit at the end of the

year if bush-era tax cuts expire and automatic spending cuts kick in. anti-virus software developer john mcafee is wanted by police officials for questioning in the murder of his neighbor. american gregory fall was found dead of a gunshot wound on saturday night, just days after he'd filed a formal complaint against mcafee for, quote, roguish behavior. according to the associated press, other neighbors have been questioned, but mcafee has not been available at his home. intelligence rising in the middle east as israel's army claims it has made direct hits on syrian military vehicles. the move comes in retaliation for a syrian mortar shell landing in the israel-controlled golan heights. this as cross-border bombings between turkey and syria threaten to draw the region into the ongoing syrian crisis. meantime this morning, israeli air strikes struck the gaza strip as retaliation for rocket attacks from the hamas-controlled area. police say the deaths of

five family members in toledo, ohio were the result of a murder-suicide. officials say the apparent intentional carbon monoxide poisoning killed three children, their uncle and their grandmother who were in the midst of a bitter custody dispute. nascar superstar jeff gordon is going to have to pay up for intentionally wrecking rival clint bowyer's car in sunday's race at the phoenix international raceway. gordon was fined $100,000, got docked 25 points and is on probation through the end of this year but avoids a suspension. the scrape-up caused a major fracas between the two drivers' pit crew. an incredible plane crash caught on tape in brazil. take a look at this small plane careened right off the landing strip near the sao paulo airport. the pilot suffered serious injuries.

amazing event, and we'll get to witness it as it happens. let's begin this half hour with more on the women involved in the scandal that led to the resignation of david petraeus. people who know them best are now speaking out. nbc's kristen welker is in washington with more on this. kristen, good morning. >> reporter: matt, good morning to you. marine general john allen's involvement in this scandal is just coming out, but we know paula broadwell and jill kelley are two moms who live nearly 600 miles apart, but now they are both entangled in this same scandal and under a very unwanted microscope. >> realize that this is something that's going to brand her for life. >> reporter: david kwam is the brother of jill kelley, the woman who ultimately exposed the david petraeus affair and dismissed the notion that gel kelley is anything but a friend. >> she's a mother, extremely dedicated. number two, she's a wife and

she's extremely been dedicated to her husband and he to her, so for her to have an affair with general petraeus is completely ludicrous. >> mrs. kelley, how are you doing? >> kelley, seen leaving her tampa home monday, described petraeus as a longtime family friend in a joint statement she issued with her husband scott in which they asked for privacy. law enforcement sources say kelley told the fbi in may that someone was sending her anonymous harassing e-mails. fbi later discovered that paula broadwell, petraeus' biographer, was the one sending them and that broadwell and petraeus were having an extramarital affair. frequently fund-raising for the wounded war years program, the kelleys often socialized with petraeus and his wife holly. right now kelley's brother is offering full support. >> the conversations i've had with her is i love you and we're here for you for whatever you need. >> reporter: meanwhile monday night fbi agents removed items from broadwell's home.

foreign policy expert michael o'hanlon has known petraeus and paula for years. >> paula's a pretty great person, a person with amazing interests in our country's security. >> reporter: broadwell, shown here in afghanistan, embedded on an intelligence mission in 2010, had unprecedented access to petraeus as she researched her book, later calling petraeus her mentor. >> as a sort of academic mentor of mine, if you will. he's proud that i've been able to do this. >> reporter: while some former aides to broadwell describe her as calculating, o'hanlon says her family life in north carolina with her husband scott and two children tell a different story. >> however big a mistake she's made and it's huge, that this is a person who worked hard, worked hard to raise her kids, worked hard to do a good job with the book. >> reporter: there is another woman deeply affected by this scandal and that's holly petraeus, general petraeus' wife of more than 30 years. petraeus' former aides tell me it is an understatement to say that she is infuriated right

the man behind elmo is taking a leave of absence from "sesame street why the "to deal with very serious allegations. nbc's mara schiavocampo is here with more on this. >> reporter: good morning. this would be no elmo without robert clash but the puppeteer who created elmo is coming forward after a man claimed forward saying he had an intimate relationship with clash while he was still a minor. ♪ >> reporter: though he's best known as the voice of elmo, revered puppeteer kevin clash is now speaking out in his own defense against accusations of sexual misconduct. in a statement monday "sesame street" said they were contacted in june by a then 23-year-old man who alleged he had a relationship beginning when he was 16 years old with kevin clash. in his own statement, 52-year-old clash acknowledged having a relationship with the man but says it was between two consenting adults, and i am deeply saddened that he is trying to characterize it as

something other than what it was. >> when you look at the stories here, clash and his accuser are not all that far apart. the only question is did the relationship begin at age 16 or age 18 or later? >> reporter: "sesame street" says they found the allegation of underage conduct to be unsubstantiated but also found clash violated company policy regarding internet usage, and he was disciplined. clash created elmo and has been performing as the lovable muppet for almost 30 years, racking up 24 emmy awards along the way. >> elmo wishes he could go, too. >> reporter: puppeteer working on "sesame street" was a lifelong wishful filled, something he talked about in the 2011 documentary "being elmo." >> when i was 9 years old, it was just a dream that i had, wow, i wish that i could work with the muppets. >> reporter: over the years, elmo has made his way from "sesame street" to main street as the most popular muppet,

often appearing on other tv shows. >> yes, elmo loves to dance. >> reporter: and flying off toy store shelves. >> elmo is the franchise. i've had parents tell me that mommy or daddy was not the first word their child said. elmo was the first word their child said. >> reporter: clash is now on indefinite leave, saying i am taking a break to deal with this false and defamatory allegation, an absence that will be undoubtedly felt on "sesame street." >> there isn't anybody with more sway or more influence in the studio than kevin. he directs. he executive produces. i can't imagine there being a modern day "sesame street" without kevin clash. >> reporter: now, we reached out to the accuser's attorney for comment, but he didn't spont respond. as for elmo, "sesame street" says he's bigger than one person and will remain an integral part of the show. >> mara schiavocampo, thank you. coming up next, the puppy named after a victim of 9/11 all

we're back now at 7:43 with an update on a touching story we brought you last year about a tsa bomb detection puppy and the 9/11 victim he was named after. the puppy is now all grown up and nbc's tom costello just returned from his graduation ceremony. tomorrow, good morning. >> sweet story. you may remember the puppy's name is dolan. he stole the show here when he was on the "today" show of the family of the captain bob dolan, and now dolan the dog is headed to the front lines with the a.

it was 18 months ago when we first dolan and his playmates at lackland air force base in san antonio, part of the boot camp that traipse these noses to sniff out explosives but something about this puppy made him special. >> this is dolan, number 500. >> reporter: 500th puppy to go through the tsa program and every dog is named after one of the 3,000 people who died on 9/11. >> this is just such an honor. i can't even tell you what an honor this is for me. >> reporter: dolan was named after lisa dolan's husband, navy captain bob dolan who died in the pentagon on 9/11. on the "today" show lisa met dolan for the first time. >> he will o', baby. >> reporter: 18 months later dolan is all grown up. >> good boy. good boy. >> reporter: and with his handler now ready to graduate from the tsa's bomb detection

academy. >> over here. >> reporter: a big day for which lisa and rebecca have driven all the way to san antonio. >> hello, baby. do you remember me? oh, my gosh. do you remember me? yes, that's rebecca. >> reporter: whether it was the reunion or our microphone that caught his attention, dolan was wound up. so what is it like to see him all grown up? >> it's wonderful. >> yeah. >> it's wonderful. i know now he's going to go out there and going to work, and i also know, i have the -- the knowledge now that he remembers us so that's exciting. >> reporter: at graduation ceremony dolan led the procession. sleigh and rebecca were there and so were 14-year-old aidan and his mom laurie who helped raise dolan while he was a puppy in san antonio, and then had to let him go. >> it was kind of hard, yes, it was. >> reporter: a lot of work? >> yes, for some people it's like another job, honestly. >> reporter: sniffing for bombs

is a big game for the tsa dogs, but half the puppies in the program wash out. not dolan. >> good boy. good boy. that's a good boy. >> reporter: now dolan is leaving the tsa's training terminal in texas and head for a new assignment in maui, and he's headed there with two of his classmates, right? handler frank d'angelo is going with him. >> they are like a 2-year-old almost, and, you know, some days they are terrible 2s and some days they are excellent, but overall it's all good. >> reporter: for rebecca dolan whose dad was a bomb technician it's all come full circle. >> i ream really proud when i tl them my dad was the bomb guy. >> reporter: with his tail in perpetual motion, dolan is on his way. the real winner is the handler, being reassigned from alaska to

back now at 1:49 with the unusual punishment for a driver caught on camera using a sidewalk to get around a school bus. nbc's katy tur is in cleveland with this story. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, savannah. certainly very unusual. i'm going to step aside to show you when this sign reads. unfortunately, we've got this truck. now you can see sheena harden who has to hold a sign that says only an idiot would drive on a sidewalk to avoid a school bus, and that's essentially what she's being punished for. the judge says she couldn't give her jail time. she thought this would be a more appropriate sentence. the video is so damning it seems for itself. watch as 32-year-old sheena harden doesn't even pause as she veers right and drives up on the sidewalk to bypass a school bus stopped to pick up disabled students. >> she comes through at 7:30 every morning. goes around the school bus every morning.

>> reporter: harden was caught on tape by the school bus driver. fed up with watching her put herself and his kids in danger. harden's reasoning, she apparently didn't want to wait. >> clearly the handicap boy cannot run across the street. there's a factory across the street. >> reporter: that was harden's mother in september explaining why her daughter's maneuver wasn't all that bad. we spoke with the director of the neighboring day care center soon after the video surfaced. she showed us just how precarious harden's escape route actually could have been. >> if we had to evacuate the building, we would have to come through this door. this door here to come out of building, and if she's coming up on the sidewalk, well, then there's the danger right there. >> reporter: a cleveland municipal court judge agreed sentencing harden to a $250 fine and actual penance, ordering her to stand on the street corner and hold this sign, both today

and tomorrow. it reads only an idiot would drive on a sidewalk to avoid a school bus. >> chances are, had she shown some remorse, maybe i would not have given her that extra part of the sentence. >> reporter: neither harden or her lawyer would talk to nbc news about the sign, but in court the disgraced driver offered an explanation for her impatien impatience. >> they would just stand there and talk after the children were loaded, again, not justifying. >> reporter: yesterday we spoke about the day care's director about the judge's orderer to make harden wear an idiot sign. you don't think it's too embarrassing to stand there with a sign saying only idiots drive on a sidewalk? >> idiot is a strong word but you have to have been an idiot to drive on the sidewalk in the first place. >> reporter: now, she has to stand here from 7:45 to 8:45, both today and tomorrow. also has a fine.

kennedy era. we'll be bringing those two, bringing those stories about those photos. first we want to go inside. natalie morales is over at the news desk. good morning to you. >> good morning, everyone. the top commander in afghanistan is now caught up in the scandal that led to the sudden resignation last week of cia director david petraeus. the pentagon announced overnight that marine general john allen is under investigation because of 20,000 to 30,000 pages of potentially inappropriate e-mails that connect him to jill kelly. kelly is the florida woman whose complaints to the fbi about had a rationing e-mails led to the discovery of an extramarital affair between cia director david petraeus and biographer paula broadwell. agents investigating broadwell removed boxes of materials from her north carolina home last night. investigators are zeroing in on the cause of a deadly house explosion that devastated an indianapolis neighborhood over the weekend. nbc's ron allen is there with the latest. good morning to you, ron.

>> reporter: good morning, natalie. we're getting a much closer look at the incredible damage here now. investigators say the evidence still points to some kind of a gas explosion. the owner of the home where the blast occurred has told authorities he thinks a faulty gas furnace might be to explain. no one was home at the time. meanwhile, the investigation continues, and some residents have been allowed home briefly to pick up the pieces of whatever they can salvage. like most residents who live close to the blast site nick was given an hour with an escort to look at what's left of his home, living room walls cracked and windows and doors blown out. he lives 30 yards from where investigators say something exploded. the fire lit up the saturday night sky. the force of the blast so powerful it was heard miles away, and damaged as many as 80 homes. this is what the community looked like before and after the explosion and fire. public safety director troy

riggs gave up a close-up look at the damage, a sea of scorched and better home. debris and shattered glass in every direction. >> you can see the homes here. you'll see the roofs that are buckled, windows northbound out and garage doors that are blasted in. i mean, it's a -- it's hard to explain unless you've been here. >> reporter: at the epicenter of the blast, a black hole where two homes were obliterated. next door is where relatives say dion longworth and his wife jennifer died, a beloved second grade teacher. >> she was never like yelling at anybody. she would always be nice and encouraging. >> reporter: investigators say dozens of homes may be uninhabitable, and fire or six beyond repair, headed for demolition. authorities are working to make the neighborhood safe, and while they think this explosion may have been caused by a gas leak, they are still trying to figure out what would ignite such a powerful blast. natalie? >> ron allen in indianapolis. thanks so much, ron.

been seen before in in way. how did you get your hands on this photo? >> stanley was a wonderful friend, and he left them to me when he died. he also left me this marine corps locker of his which was filled with kennedy letters and diary extracts and memos and presents that he had received from the president. it was a very sentimental cache of things, and because this was the 50th anniversary of the kennedy administration i thought i'd put together a book. >> it's a real treasure chest and we see some of the spirit of this in the book. let's talk about some of the photos. each tells a story. the first one we want to show is jfk and jack kennedy in a convertible. it's rare because we didn't get to see that many moments of affection between them. >> that's absolutely right. this is coming back from the blair house to the white house, and jacqueline kennedy told stanley that this was her favorite picture with the president because she felt that it showed such affection and such intimacy. you know, jfk was -- he was not

publicly demonstrative at all and didn't like to be photographed that way. didn't even kiss his wife after the speech. >> and we know the kennedy children were such an object of affection and interest, but jfk didn't necessarily want the kids to be photographed. jackie didn't, and we have this photo that's taken in hyannis. it's a famous one of jfk on a golf cart surrounded which children but not the kennedy children. >> no. jackie wouldn't led caroline or john-john be in this photograph, and these are all kennedy kids and cousins, and in this particular photograph they are saying uncle jack, run over the photographer. kill the photographer, uncle jack. >> a picture of caroline holding her dad's photo. a good story behind that. >> jackie was very, very upset about this. stanley took this picture, and she's standing next to maria shriver, and maria shriver said that's the president of the united states and carline said, no, it's not. it's my daddy. it's my daddy, and jackie would not let this be published because she said she felt that

caroline looked bratty. >> one of the most interesting stories in the book has to do with stanley's efforts to photograph the children, which jackie apparently did not want, but finally you write that stanley got his opportunity, and he says when the president saw me, he said now you know we better get this out of the way pretty quick. things get kind of sticky when jackie is around and the results were pictures of the kids in and around the oval office. >> a four-day exclusive shoot and the president brought stanley into the white house, into the family quarters, took him to camp david on the helicopter. they got an amazing series of photographs, and kennedy loved them. he loved them. he just thought they were fabulous, except for one. he did not want the picture -- now that's -- that's the famous one. stanley said when he shoved off this would be the shot he'd be remembered for. >> this is the one that's never been seen before. >> no. president kennedy said no because john-john was playing at his desk, and he felt -- the

president felt that he wasn't taking the office seriously enough. >> i know that after his death jacqueline kennedy reached out to stanley and had him shoot some photographs for a memorial issue for "look" magazine. tell us about that. >> that's right. you know something. she said to stanley, she was so glad that he and the president had conspired against her because she wouldn't have had all the photographs that he took during those four days. she was so grateful, and stanley gave her all the photographs in an album, and then they went to london together, and there's a very funny diary extract. stanley titled it my 14 days of agony with jacqueline kennedy in which he had to trail her all over london and take pictures. >> kitty kelly, you capture these moments so call. the book is called "capturing camelot." thanks for sharing some of it with us this morning. appreciate it. >> now let's head outside to matt and al and our huge concert
