good morning to you. >> reporter: we had 11 inches of snow so it has ended for now. keep in mind this city averages 8 feet a season but only had 6 inches until late yesterday afternoo afternoon. >> snow, high winds e, dangerous driving conditions hitting the northeast this morning. in new york city where they're still struggling in the afternoon ma aftermath of hurricane sandy. >> it's becoming enough. >> reporter: and residents stock ing up hard hit for supplies and snow reduced visibility and blanket the roads. >> especially greg down hill. >> reporter: in massachusetts, drivers were taking it extra slow. the storm was causing headaches at the nation's airport, over 1700 flights cancelled windy, stranding passengers trying get

home over the christmas holiday. before moving to the northeast, the weather system pounded parts of the northwest dumping over a foot of snow in some areas and spawning 26 tornadoes in the south catches this at a walgr n walgreens in mobile, alabama. and lawmakers were on the scene in dozens of accidents. in arkansas, thousands were left without power after the snow dumped more than 15 inches in this part of the state and they saw the snow ieiest weather in ever. >> the power is out and i don't like it when the power is out. >> i'm from iowa and moved here 30 years ago to get away from this. >> reporter: parts of the jersey shore were hit by hurricane force winds. in brick township, they closed it due to high winds and flooding.

been returned from hto his home being hospitalized. he had been hospitalized for nearly three weeks, treated for a lung infection and gallstones. the government said mandela will receive top level care at his home. and two bear cubs in the eastern forester, abandoned by their mothers meaning they were too young to take care of themselves. right now, the chief forester is taking care of them and eventually hopes to send them to a rehab center for wild animals. very cute. this turtle just wants attention and went looking for love in all the wrong places. this commercial diver was at first surprised to find the massive turtle hanging on its back and gave him a shove to send him on its way. the lovelorn turtle was not deterred, and going back for more can noodling in thailand.

leonardo dicaprio is as busy as he's ever been. over the next year, he stars in three movies including his current release, "django unchained" and plays a villian for the first time in his career, an explosive performance that earned him a golden globe nomination. i asked him about working with director quenton tarantino. >> what is the tarantino experience? >> i was thinking about if i'm a filmmaker some day, what kind of mark am i going to put on film history? when you go into a quentin tarantino set, you are the writer and director and encompassed in everything. >> tarantino's script for "django unchained" gained nearly myth logical status for the violent telling of the story of early american slavery. >> when the screen play came out

about you walking onto the set one day. >> right. >> he says, leo, what's going on? and you blow right past him. he thinks for a moment, is leo dicaprio blowing me off big time? and then thinks he's in character. >> this man represents the moral decay of the south. for me to get in that mindset and be that character, that's the way i needed to be on set everyday. >> dicaprio tells the story of an actor celebrititive and sparing of the roles he takes. >> what is your philosophy of changing roles in films? >> i want to do as many characters as i can, like a book or watching a movie. when you experience that and it kind of speaks to you and you feel a connection it to, you envision yourself in that role, i don't question it. i just go towards it.
