>> super bowl mania continues. we have live team coverage from new orleans. >> we are dealing with slick road issues this evening with light snow that started midafternoon and below-freezing temperatures. we will begin with john collins to give us a look at what is coming up. >> it seems like a light snow caused a lot of problems as far as traffic is concerned. people are taking it for granted. i will buy this over a foot of snow. a little clipper is coming in out of the ohio river valley. it moved out of that area this morning and into our area this afternoon. there is another one behind it in iowa. i want to give you a few totals that accumulate. 9/10 of an inch. let's see. 1 inch in garrison. at simpsonville -- only a trace

one, the i'm sure they would say the same thing if you ask them the other way around. we got here sunday of last week and now we watched the momentum built every day until today. it is hard to believe we are less than 24 hours until the super bowl. we wanted to get a taste as to what things are like on this super bowl eve, so we went to the french quarter and saw some familiar faces down there. super bowl knocks eve in the french quarter and ravens' fever is in the air. pat o'brien's on the river. special party for ravens' fans only. >> the ravens are one of the biggest assets. for them to be on the national stage, we have to be here to support them. >> almost 200 rsvp'd, everyone from diehard ravens and -- >> it is incredible. everyone here is the ravens' fan. everyone is. people are excited.

it is awesome. >> food, atmosphere, all the ravens' fans, it is really exciting to be here. >> to the president of the ravens' himself, who shared with us his a-ha moment. >> it was thursday and the fans have arrived. we came into the hotel. fans were roped off. there must have been several hundred cheering and yelling and it was really loud inside the hotel. it was great. >> mayor stephanie rawlings- blake stop by and gave us a serenade. >> to walk down bourbon street singing] { >> the only thing more impressive would be a win on sunday. >> we have to earn a return to new orleans into purple nation. -- have turned new orleans into purple nation.

>> we knew all weekend that it has been crowded across the area, but instead of causing stress, some shoppers and store owners tell us it is a part of the celebration. at the store, they see fans all year round. this weekend -- >> it is awesome. >> it is like a party here. >> the festive atmosphere appears to have people in the mood to stock up. the owners says nattie is the number one seller here but just about everything is flying off the shelves. he says it has been more than a decade since they have seen business like this. >> it is an phenomenal, reminiscent of the 2000 season. they went to the super bowl. >> the pre super bowl celebrations continue in hollandtown. each day leading up to the game has seen more shoppers than the

last. >> they're coming in for shrimp, crab legs, crab meat, chicken wings, snack food, what everybody wants to have a for their party. >> buffalo wings. >> ravens' cupcakes and stuff like that. >> just about everything in purple and black is in demand, whether it is food or flat where. >> sometimes the purple plates and cups are hard to find. you have to look around. >> steady crowds find suitable staples. >> it has been like this all day. it is a fiasco over here. >> we are real busy. a lot of people in ravens' colors and sweatshirt's. >> since just about everyone is here for the same reason, some shoppers say rather than getting frustrated with crowds, they're looking at it as one big party. >> they are in a festive mood, you know? nobody's being mean. everybody is being nice and polite. that is a good thing. >> won a store owner told us he

>> an emotional day for the community as dozens gathered to honor the late rev. vernon dobson. he moved here as a gunman in the late-1970's. to many, he was known as "pastor," but he will be remembered for the strides he made in the fight for civil rights. in the 1960's, he led protests and boycotts and dedicated the rest of his life to building community organizations. today's memorial service was held inside st. mark's institutional baptist church. reverend dodson was 89 years old. >> a fire in west baltimore sent one person to shock trauma. it happened at a home in the 1300 block of west pratt street. crews rescued a victim from the second floor and one firefighter had to be treated for minor burns. >> still to come tonight, a

in alabama. ethan was pulled off a school bus tuesday afternoon after dyikes -- dykes shot and killed the driver. they're trying to persuade him to release the boy. they say ethan has been well cared for. >> he has told us that there are blankets inside and he is taking care of him. he has also allowed us to provide medication, toys. i want to thank him for taking care of our child. it is very important. >> hundreds gathered today as the school bus driver, shot and killed during the abduction, was laid to rest. the community is calling him a hero. neighbors believe dykes wants a public platform to grant about politics and government. >> overseas, a leftist militant

group in turkey claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing at the u.s. embassy. the terror expert confirmed the authenticity of the claim. turkish officials say they have made at least three arrests and are still searching for other suspects who might have helped to the bomber. the attack killed a turkish security guard and a turkish jailor was injured. no americans were hurt. >> now, your 11 instaweather plus forecast with meteorologist john collins. >> a check of the latest radar showing lots of snow trying to pull away from the area. the snow shower activity, little or no additional accumulation as expected with any of this. we could see flurries to the west. the clipper pulls out of the area. there is more lined up for this came from. 17 was the low this morning. 25 of the normal. we were way off the mark. there is a moderating trend in temperatures in the seven-day.

we will need to wait a couple of days for that but we will eventually warm up. annapolis is 30. 33 on the boardwalk. westminster, 25. frederick, 23. take a look at the satellite imagery. we can see all of the weather system lined up to the west waiting to come in, so to speak. here is an up-close view. we got the part of the clipper. most of it is gone. some of this was rain down to the south. we are not far away from warmer air but we're not there yet. here is one clipper trying to come through, pushing the moisture out. the clippers do not have access to a lot of moisture. they come in fairly dry. there's another one to the west coming into the upper mississippi valley. the snow in missouri. another one back in canada. kind of lined up waiting to come

in. very cool air up there. here is what the jets for looks like, pulling the storms down. you can see this, impulse here. another one beginning to come down from hudson bay. more moisture coming off the pacific ocean as well and that helps to feed the system. overnight tonight, not quite as cold as last night. a lot of clouds. 24 to 28 the overnight low. light snow is tapering off. west winds as well. during the day tomorrow, we can expect temperatures to go a little bit, but still below the average for the season. upper-30's 4 highs and snow shower activity in the forecast in the afternoon. light stuff, like her than what we had today. the wind is at 5. the snow in general is less than an inch around the area. small craft advisory is out. wind gusting to 20. one to two foot chop.

futurecast shows the departing) this is sunday at 6:00. we have that moving through and we have another one tuesday morning. then another one coming in wednesday. leaving wednesday in the afternoon. it looks like the next few clippers will be night time events, not a daytime events. a snow shower on sunday. very light snow. light snow monday night and tuesday night during the day. we will probably see some sunbreaks and dry weather. a 30's in the middle of the week. by wednesday, near 40. 40's going into next weekend. with the next system on friday, rain instead of snow. >> hi pete gilbert live in new orleans. straight ahead, the first original reagan to make it to the hall of fame is straight ahead.

the hall of famer was one of five to earn an induction today to the hall of fame. larry allen, chris carter, nate robinson joining jonathan ogden. this will happen this summer. ogden, all the superlatives. he played 12 seasons with the ravens, all 12 with them. he is pretty fired up to get to the hall. >> how fun is that going to feel when you see that you guys in the same draft class, you're going in the hall of fame. he is retiring but he is still playing. >> i will be like, man, how did you last 17 years? you are waiting and waiting. just tell me. let me know. it was well worth it, though. i was dressing out a little bit.

he gets in and art didn't, he will spend a lot of time in canton talking about him and how he should be in the hall of fame. the game coming up tomorrow, the big question, will they be able to find a way to stop colin kae pernick? he has done different things each time out there. we know about the offense. the thing is, the first time, he ran like crazy, more than 180 yards. last time he was throwing the ball and was so dangerous. they talk about what they would try to slow him down -- what they will try to do to slow him down. >> it will be a challenge to try to stop him, but we have a good game plan going in. we're looking forward to playing against him. our defense, we have our jobs,
