david collins has the story. >> in the past four years, the eruption of violence in baltimore city resulted in 1600 non-chelcey -- non-fatal shootings. authorities believe a small number of repeat offenders are responsible. >> guns are an issue that has been unnecessarily polarized in our community and i do not think it needs to be that way. >> doug gansler call on experts to analyze wait -- ways to reduce gun violence. going after those who insist on straw purchases, expanding the gun registry statewide, and tougher sentences. >> mandatory minimum sentences for the illegal possession of a handgun which we have tried to pass for many years without success. >> maryland happens to be one of seven states which does not have

pennsylvania avenue in west baltimore. this fire is huge. >> down by franklin where pennsylvania avenue begins. this is a four-alarm fire. they had a portion of the building collapse and had firefighters that were trapped. one firefighter injured. this fire is nowhere near under control. we've got numerous units here at the location. exterior operations only. they have anything they can to get some type of handle on this fire. we do not know the severity of the injuries of the firefighter but we can tell you there is more portions of this building that is actually collapsing. just look at this. it is immense smoke, flames, he. city police is in the process of the touring traffic, keeping traffic away from the scene but this thing is growing. we heard it come out as a

building fire that went to 82 alarm fire and then they put out an emergency distress call. the building had collapsed and there was a fire fighter that was trapped. they're treating him right now and taking care of him. we do not know the severity of the injuries. as you can see here, the firefighters have a heck of a job trying to get this fire under control because it is just growing. i am not quite sure what the building was here but we are trying to get more information. >> is it a single building that is on fire? it is so immense, it must be a large building if it is. >> it looks like several buildings are on fire. the old business district down here north of franklin on pennsylvania avenue. you would consider three stories tall. the flames are so intense, i do not know what products they had inside the building but by no

way do they have it under control. >> this is also a fire that is in great danger of spreading to other nearby buildings. >> city fire crews are doing the best they can to keep it from spreading but right now it is external operations only trade you can see the letter trucks utilizing their guns and have some fire engines here with some guns they are using to shoot water into this. it is not easy. there's no real access to the rear of the building and is growing and growing. expect obviously major problems in trying to navigate in downtown baltimore area. pennsylvania avenue just north of university of maryland shock trauma. >> thank you. capt. roy taylor and skyteam 11. now the latest look at the old brother. >> and cold temperatures in our

area and the possibility of snow as the evening wears on. temperatures were chilly. the normal high is 43. we had 45 after a cold 21. some light snow on the ground. helping the temperature to drop quite a bit. 29 in parton. 30 around jarret topsmelt -- jarrettsville. western maryland is even colder, where most of the snow will accumulate. another clippers. the added up sloper fact of the mountains squeezes out whatever moisture is in the system so there will end up with several inches of snow. good news for the ski resorts. getting a nice light and pottery accumulation. from western allegany to garrett county, east of there, it is a winter adviser to frederick county. on to the eastern shore, much lighter amounts of precipitation. this notion becoming in in the

next couple of hours, approaching baltimore by 8:00 p.m., scooting out of here by midnight or 1:00 a.m. and has the potential to produce another dusting. like we have seen with the potential clippers. it should be gone tomorrow. the falling snow should have ended several hours before that. and for the ravens, the parade in downtown baltimore, partly to mostly cloudy skies and temperatures pretty close to normal. we might see some sunshine breaking through in the afternoon. several inches, of course of 6 inches. that first category of snowfall on the scale for much of the baltimore metro area, a dusting to perhaps and injured two in spots around the area. from 8:00 p.m. tonight to one in the morning. the sun went down this evening at 5:31 p.m. tomorrow, partly cloudy and maybe some afternoon sunshine. the normal is about 43.

saw last night at the superdome remained implanted in the brain. we will get back to the tv set to look at the highlights from suval -- from super bowl xlvii. it was the first half that was unlike any other in ravens history as far as what joe flacco was able to do. certainly when it comes to this playoff run. think about what this man has accomplished with this touchdown. 11 of them for post-season run. no interceptions. making it 7-0. that was one -- he also had a fastball touchdown and then heavy lead one flight to jacobi jones. he danced before he got into the hands down and after. putting them up 21-6. and the new orleans native

having the time of his life back home. and once again getting it done. 108 yards. a super bowl record in length for a kick off. he took 11 seconds to do so. that gave the ravens a 28-6 lead which seemed insurmountable. they did it before 12 years ago in the super bowl. san francisco took advantage of a power outage. 34 minutes, we had to endure through that. a bizarre setting unlike any other in super bowl history. they go into the san francisco 49ers who scored 17 unanswered points and they got close to the fourth quarter when colin kaepernick went 15 yards. making it a 31-21 game. it came down to a defensive stand. colin kaepernick under pressure.

he put it to the end zone. he could -- you could argue he was holding and -- or was better defense. they got the job done and he saw the belief in his team. the proof of that going back to the denver game. they could still get it done. >> i remember a team break after the denver game. i think it was -- who said all our goals are in front of us. we can accomplish it, let's go to work. our guys never flinched. they never blinked through that diversity. that is not a great lesson, if that is not something we can draw on as a team, i do not know what is. >> not just for the team but for anybody. even though -- if you stick together and believe in one another. it was about love for one another that allowed them to stay through the tough times and celebrate a super bowl
