school leads police to a major gun bust. kim dacey explains what happened. >> police tell us their detectives did not want to take any chances in this case because of what happened in newtown, connecticut. on monday, a 25-year-old justin beaumont slipped into the high school by following an employee in through the back door. he was approached by another employee and a school resource officer. he told them he was a student at the school in 2002 and was bullied during his two months there. he asked about school security and military background. he was not armed and made no threats, but officials had a strange feeling, and with the newtown, connecticut in mind, detectives look into his past and found that he was the legal owner of several assault-style weapons and handguns. >> based on the totality of the circumstances, our detectives apply for and received a search and seizure warrant. >> at his home in glen burnie,

detectives found under his bed and taught at his mattress a loaded ak-47, an uzi assault weapon, three handguns, one with a laser cider on it, a silencer, and in numerous ammunition magazines. police seized the weapons and put beaumont into custody to undergo psychiatric evaluation. >> post-connecticut, we have got to realize as an agency, a nation, a state, that our school children, we have to take these precautionary, thorough investigative steps to ensure that we do everything we can to keep them safe. >> after his mental evaluations are complete, beaumont will remain in custody at a detention center and a judge will determine what happens next. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> that incident happened at the same day that gun rights advocates took their message to annapolis. >> the right of the people to keep and bear arms --

>> a baltimore circuit court judge dismisses a lawsuit by joan pratt over mayor stephanie rawlings-blake's plan to install a new phone system. pratt accused rawlings-blake of subverting the usual bidding process. money will change hands on the eastern shore. it is announced on wednesday that communities hit hardest by super storm sandy will get additional financial aid from

that is a race that has yet to be run. back to you. >> now, you're a 11 insta- weather-plus forecast with meteorologist john collins. >> we really have not had a sizable nor'easter develop this winter so far, but one is on the horizon. we are beginning to see the first elements move in the area. activity up in the clouds. this is not hitting the ground, except for a few little sprinkles and flurries down in the mountains. in the great lakes, a combination of either some snow or rain, depending on how far north or south you are. this is a to of the iceberg with what is going to happen in the next 24, 48 hours or so. we have had cloudy skies all morning, kind of holding the temperatures down a bit. south of washington and annapolis, meetings are around

40 degrees. in baltimore, we are in the mid- thirties. the airport is 35, and downtown at the inner harbor, 38 degrees. this is showing pretty good overcast deck we had with us. these clouds are coming up from the moisture on the southern component of what will eventually be at the northeastern. low pressure near mobile, alabama, off of the gulf coast. you can see the warm front drifting north. the warm front is often a tip as to where the track of the storm will be. the low pressure center is generally to some extent following that track. second component, too. the energy from this as this storm is moving north will transfer the coast and help

bring the storm even further north. it looks like it all comes together around boston. it looks like boston will be the main target for the storm as far as all the really significant snow and that weather occurs. the coldest of the air -- the area has shrunk and it is all in canada out right now. cold enough for snow, yes, at least some areas. high-temperature today -- cloudy skies, sunset at 5:34. it gets a little later each day. overnight, we develop a chance for a light turnout or sleet. the farther south you go, the greater the chance for that. tomorrow morning there could be some slippery driving conditions around the area. during the day tomorrow, we will go fofrom that wintry mix to

rain. the snow progresses north were, but it does not look like we are the prime target, and the amounts of precipitation at the moment don't look heavy. temperatures probably in the upper 30's for highs. here we are at friday, 6:00 in the morning. then we see this mixture of precipitation changing into rain and, as the storm moves towards boston, they are getting more of the snow but we could go back to seeing a little rain again. the storm at the mullan and offshore and it looks like we will not be the prime target here. the wintry mix changing to rain and then back into snow, and there might be something lingering, but we get windy on saturday into sunday, and the monday and tuesday we develop another system. >> we are well into the first season of nbc's brought "chicago
