much as 3 feet of snow. airports and train stations are trying to help people to their destinations. >> they are the sounds of a chilly clean up across new england. the work is stretching into a second day across the region. blizzard dumped more than 3 feet of snow in some areas. today a caravan of snowplows are working to clear the roads from new york to massachusetts. >> we're working hard to make sure it is functional by the morning commute. >> power crews are out in force working to restore electricity to the more than 200,000 facing another dark night. >> utilities seem to be making progress. they have some forecasts for restoring power by the end of today. in some cases, into tomorrow. >> there is hope the airports

will be running at full capacity soon. the connecticut opera the airport remains closed. flights have resigned -- resumed her authority and the boston airport. >> we have been trying to get on airplanes or trees the last day or so. >> amtrak is slowly getting back on track. >> the snow has been great. the kids have been playing in the backyard. >> a lot of new englanders how -- hope it is all downhill from here. >> there maybe a few more bumps along the way. meteorologist john collins is tracking another potential winter storm. >> it is going to be a winter storm for some. it is focused differently. it will not be in your easter or anything like that. our temperatures will were not smart. it will probably be a rain maker

of more than snow. the energy is up in iowa. the moisture is reaching into kentucky and tennessee right that is all rain. the snow is in the upper peninsula of michigan and minnesota. we may get some ice when it starts tonight. we will talk more about the details on the storms in the coming week in a minute. >> another disruption for service at bwi marshall. an airport shuttle was involved in an accident. we're told the driver and two passengers were on the bus around 6:30 this morning when it got stuck on the track. the driver was trapped for 30 minutes and had to be taken to baltimore-washington medical center along with a passenger. both suffered non-life- threatening injuries. the tracks were also damaged. fire crews in baltimore county are investigating a house fire. firefighters responded to

providence road. crews encountered heavy fire on the second floor. firefighters were able to bring it under control in an hour. we're told seven family members were inside but luckily no one was hurt. a 14-year-old montgomery county boy is being held without bond in the murder of his infant sister. he was left to babysit while his mother worked overnight. he could not get her to stop crying. authorities say the teen suffocated the baby. the mother found a girl unresponsive inside the apartment friday morning. maryland law states kids 12 and over can legally babysit by themselves. >> when i was 14, i took care of my brothers and sisters. it depends on how responsible the kid is. >> authorities say it is possible for the mother to face charges but it is too soon to tell. her son is church with first-

degree murder. in washington, in today's president obama will be laying out the state of the union. it is the speech he will use to lay the groundwork for his next four years in office. he is setting the stage for the spending showdown that will play out over the next few weeks. >> the economy, jobs, and the middle class are expected to be center stage on tuesday night as president obama delivers his fourth state of the union address. the president will be trying to take the high ground from republicans in the fight over budget cuts. >> they would rather ask more from the majority of americans and put our recovery at risk than close a single tax loophole for the wealthy. >> the president and democrats are demanding what they see as a fair balance. >> we need more revenue and more cuts. of like to see that in a bold

alex the family of joe paterno response to the report. they called the report wrong and flawed. they say it is not thorough or objective. penn state hired the former fbi director to investigate the circumstances of the scandal involving jerry sandusky. that report stated joe paterno and other top administrators

concealed allegations against sandusky. the los angeles police department is offering $1 million to anyone that can lead them to the capture of christopher dorner. he is the former officer wanted in three murders. he has been on the run for a week now. he left behind a frightening manifesto outlining his potential targets. the lapd says the reward is historic for the agency. >> the reward is $1 million. it is the largest local reward ever offered to our knowledge. some may ask why it is so large. this is an act of domestic terrorism. >> the reward money is being pulled from area businesses, unions, police, and government agencies. the police chief said he would reopen dorner's disciplinary file. in 2009, he said he was unfairly terminated from the department

because of racist co-workers. one week after the super bowl, violence in the streets of new orleans. police are trying to identify the person that opened fire on bourbon street. investigators say the man in this video fired into a crowd in the french quarter on saturday night injuring two man and two women. the shootings reportedly stemmed from an earlier argument. three victims were in stable condition. the fourth was taken for surgery and is in guarded condition. five crew members were killed in a freak accident on a cruise ship. the crew was completing an emergency lifeboat drill when the cables supporting the lifeboat snapped. the boat fell 60 feet to the water and flipped upside down. three other people were injured. all are expected to be released from the hospital. an investigation is underway to find out what caused it to fall. it is operated by the british travel company. still to come, churches all over baltimore take part in an annual

blacks more than 130 churches in baltimore were filled with dread. ladies were wearing red for the ninth annual red dress sunday. the event aims to raise awareness among women about heart disease. cardiovascular disease kills one woman every minute in the u.s. and many never know they are at risk. it began as a faith-based education program in 2005 with three churches. -- temperatures will be dipping tonight. you can see the temperature is right now. gettysburg is 36. westminster is 37. tonight when the rain starts coming in, these readings may get below the freezing point. the rain may turn to freezing rain. most of the area will be warm enough that this will be a rainmaker. here is the storm moving in. release released on storm activity -- release strong storm activity in alabama. it is in minnesota and the dakotas. most of the snow will be up there. overnight, places north of us may have to deal with freezing rain. high pressure is moving out of the picture.

here is the front coming in. how low is headed to the northeast toward canada. the front will be coming through our area and generate rain ahead of it. overnight tonight, 30 to 35. most of the readings should stay above freezing. alights southeast wind at two to 7 miles an hour. rain showers in the general forecast. freezing conditions to the north in pennsylvania. each day, it is getting longer as far as the sunlight is concerned. pennsylvania and north, they have a freeze advisories because of the risk overnight. some of the rain could freeze on contact. tomorrow, we will get into the 50's for the highs. the rain will be concentrated in the morning. by afternoon, we should have some sunshine as the rain moves out.

the futurecast tells the story. at 1:00, and you begin to see rain activity. these are the spots of freezing rain. it looks like we will be in the clear for a while. tomorrow, we start out close to freezing. we wind up in the 50's. rain mostly in the morning. tuesday will be dry and 47. only 40 on wednesday with a mix of precipitation. most of that will be south of us. thursday and friday will be dry. we could see a wintry mix over the weekend. >> it is nice to see you. >> what a journey to follow the ravens. it was a privilege to be there. we're on to college basketball. we will check on the battle next in sports.

statement. the orioles pitchers and catchers report this week for spring training. it seems like a minute ago they were forcing the deciding game five in new york. this year, we will see chris davis returned to first base. some have concerns about the defensive downgrade. chris davis is not among them. >> i have done a lot more infield work. there was a routine i had in texas that i really like and worked well for me. a kind of got away from that last year. i think of what -- i think that was the main reason i struggled. it is funny to hear you talk about the fact i am going back to first base. i never thought i would be playing in the outfield or doing the things i did last year. i have always thought of myself as a first baseman. i have been out here almost two weeks. i feel comfortable over there.
