had metro website. lawmakers, dignitaries, and survivors came together for the maryland network against domestic violence's 25th memorial service. one by one of the names of the victims who lost their lives last year were called. the group says 49 people died in maryland between july of 2011 and june of 2012 as a result of domestic violence. victims included 28 women from 18 men, and three children. the event raises awareness and garner support for families affected by domestic violence. >> devin spence was making a familiar warning track to his job but his students did not get to learn from him today. they're mourning the loss of their popular teacher. he was killed when his car collided with a school bus.

>> we saw a lot of tears at manchester valley high school as students, parents, and staff gathered for a senior night. devin spence described his son as an extremely caring teacher. sheriff's officials say that the roads were icy. before 7:00 a.m. monday morning car collidedence's with the school bus and caught on fire. he was on his way to work when, according to investigators, the car crossed the center line near the intersection of sullivan road and rte. 27. >> i could not believe it. i'm still kind of in shock. the whole school is in shock. he really cared about us getting -- doing well. >> the bus was carrying students to a high school in pennsylvania. none of the students or the bus driver was injured. spencer graduated from towson

university and started teaching at manchester valley in january of last year. >> he was always kind and always trying to help us to better ourselves, make us better. he will definitely be missed. >> his father told us that he followed his mother into teaching and he was excited to pursue his career in mathematics and special ed. he was a wonderful son and he was growing up to be a fine man who could not -- we could not be more proud of him, he said. they sheriff's department continues to investigate the cause of the accident. the school has made extra guidance counselors available. >> it will take a lot for us to go back to where we were. he will be greatly missed. >> he also ran a private tutoring company. he was going to be an assistant lacrosse coach at the school. as part of the investigation, officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call for 10-36-2900.

in a study for the past several years. a life changing truman tried to cure him of his allergy. trying to cure him. the idea, introducing peanuts smalslowly to desensitize him. >> he reacted to 1 milligram. 300 milligrams in 18 months. one 300th of a peanut. gretzky has taken a daily maintenance dose of peanut protein. >> the goal that is to gradually teach his body to learn to tolerate that food that he was so severely allergic to. >> cross contamination has been a constant danger. it happens when foods without allergens cross paths with an allergen. if it is often enough to trigger a severe reaction. >> we hope that he would get to a point where he would not have to worry about cross contamination.

for our area. we're 10 degrees warmer than normal at 54. the normal is 44. record low, 6 below zero in the midst of the worst severe arctic outbreak. five days in for every 1899 when temperatures were below normal. highs in the single digits. it is 43 westminster, 46 i.n.l. 10. colder in the western part of the state. a cold front is making its way through. by morning, temperatures in the 30's. the wind will kick in from the west. the temperature drops at 48. 20 in chicago. teens there the canadian border. that cold air will sweep through here. it is not quite as mild as today. low pressure developing. it will get here and it may bring us some wintry weather. the winds are the main feature. wind advisory in allegany and

garrett counties. we will see some sunshine with that brisk wind tomorrow. it should be a pleasant day. on wednesday, low pressure is producing a mixed bag of rain and snow. changing to all snow wednesday and moving off the coast. this system will be long gone by the time we get to thursday morning. as it is tracking through, it has the potential to produce a couple of inches of snow. it does not look like a big deal but enough to make a few slippery spots overnight into the pre-dawn hours of thursday morning. the weekend could see a slightly stronger storm. the wind up to 20 miles an hour. western maryland will see a big temperature drop. staying in the 30's. snow likely on wednesday. on the eastern shore, upper 40's tomorrow and that mix of rain and snow later in the dam wednesday. another day at the beach in a low 50's. some rain arrives on wednesday.

the spring. john henry denied reports he has started the process of trying to sell the team. the orioles pitchers and catchers report to their facility in sarasota. you will see spring training had highlights before long. the season starts on the road against the tampa bay rays. the wild card winners, a trip to the playoffs did not really spending spree. showalter will try to push them one division higher. the big games always seemed to beg for a big opening. they plan to parish of the game ball onto the field.
