we have the latest from south africa. >> the details of precisely what took place in the early hours of this morning is still sketchy, but what is known is horrifying many of south africans. oscar pistorius was arrested earlier this morning. we are told there was a shooting incident area authorities are allowed to say very little. >> we can confirm there was a shooting incident at the home of the well-known paralympic athlete oscar pistorius. we can confirm that a young woman did die on the scene. >> it has been widely reported that a 26-year-old man being referred to is oscar pistorius, that he was arrested, and he will later appear in front of a magistrate.

sources tell me 11 news that a recruit was shot inadvertently by an instructor. part of the training was how to enter a building using shields, but at some point the instructor grabbed his service weapon instead of a training weapon. the sessions are never to involve live ammunition. it is not clear if protocols were even in place to use the facility. it is owned by the state and normally used by baltimore county for training. >> we are also learning more about the shootings near the campus of college park. the second billion -- victim has been identified as neil oa. stephen rane was killed in the

shooting. the case is putting more attention on mental health treatment for students. >> we need to come to college students about if your roommate seems like they are having difficulty, do not keep it to yourself. seek out an adult to talk that over with and maybe they will be able to help you get that student to the resident assistant. hedayvon green's family says had been suffering from mental illness. three people have been taking to the hospital following a morning apartment fire in aberdeen. fire officials say the fire started in a bedroom. a three-year-old boy and a four- year-old boy were taken to hopkins children's center. a 26-year-old woman was taken to johns hopkins bayview.

>> now, your 11 insta weather plus forecast with meteorologist john collins. >> a little bit of wet snow last night, early this morning, and then it froze up and we got some slippery conditions. the snow maker is out of the picture, but another is in the great lakes and something else developing in the plains states. this one might miss, but the one in the plains states might be an issue by friday night. it gets collocated out west and we will be watching carefully. last night, not that much snow, kind of pretty and it looks really nice this morning. eldersburg, columbia, one to two inches of snow, and that was more the exception than the rule. here on tv hill, only half of an inch was measured. that was the more standard measurement. of course we had the slippery conditions, but the sunshine is

out and all of that stuff should be melting. generally in the 40's. south of baltimore,. we still have some 30's to the northwest. frederick is up to 43. so is ocean city. in the 30's in far western maryland. here is the satellite image. there is the storm that has just passed us. here is the next one, upstream. a bubble of high pressure is giving us clear conditions. this next disturbance will generally go north of us overnight tonight, and then we will have another one that is just getting put together in the plains states. that is the one we will watch in the next 24 hours to see how it develops. today looks great. 42-47 for the high. lots of sunshine. seasonable temperatures. west to northwest winds of

about 10-15, and stronger gusts here and there. the wind on the bay is not bad. here is the futurecast. here is the disturbance to the north. it tends to stay skewed to the north and the great lakes, the one in the plains states comes in friday evening. that is the one that has the potential to be a snow maker and go into saturday. it develops offshore, probably far enough that it will not be a big issue beyond the initial pass through friday night and saturday morning. 40's today and tomorrow. tomorrow night into saturday, the chance for snow. the pitcher highs for the week and are only in the 30's. most of the snow should be early in the morning saturday. something could linger into sunday. one day, dry, to stay a chance for rain. >> we are joined by dr. patrick
