a man and woman were found dead . a child was found at the scene but was not hurt. >> michael johnson is asking for a new trial. he was found guilty of killing phylicia barnes. jennifer franciotti has the details of his request. >> his attorneys attempted to lay out their case for a new trial. they are alleging the jury had been misled and that the verdict was contrary to evidence presented at the trial. he faces 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of killing phylicia barnes. his defense team is asking for a new trial. >> apparently there is some argument the prosecution did not

guilty of killing phylicia barnes. now his defense team is asking for a new trial. lawyers argue misconduct on the part of the prosecution. mccray testified that johnson admitted and raping barnes. they said prosecutors made improper statements to the jury and try to bolster mccray's credibility. johnson's attorney said the jury was influenced to believe his testimony. gregg bernstein says johnson's motion was not unexpected. >> that is pretty standard. we will respond in due course. >> new trials are granted one in

police all looking for a break in the weekend murder of a student. police say somebody stabbed edmond st. clair on campus on saturday. the weekend incident has campus safety officials across the state taking a closer look at their emergency plan. >> the campus community wants to be safe and everybody has to be a part of that. we ask people to let us know what is going on so we can be proactive. >> police all looking for three male suspects and their late teens or early 20's. anyone with information should call maryland police. >> a proposal from mike miller about hiking the gas tax in maryland.
