to areas that haven't seen rain for a long time. we're talking much of new mexico and west texas. all the green on the map is areas of rain. it kind of looks like a march western pattern, very unusual to see a cutoff pattern this low. and it's a break from the hot summer heat in texas, oklahoma and new mexico. but for the rest of the country it's going to be a very warm, if not hot seat with dangerous heat levels in new york city. that's a look at the national forecast, how here's a look outside your window. because the temperature is in the 90s with high relative humidity, we are watching heat indexes that will approach 100, maybe 105 pretty much from d.c. to philly to southern new england as we go to many days in this week. we're kind of getting used to the heat. this is going to be a heat wave but not record-breaking heat wave. >> i say bring it on. i'm ready. >> you're ready.

very good morning. welcome back. here's some stories making news on this monday. well, asiana airlines prepares for a litany of lawsuits from passengers on flight 214. the company is getting ready to do some suing of its own. on friday san francisco tv station ktvu aired what it thought were the names of the pilots of flight 214 but clearly fake and owe offensive names were originally confirmed with the ntsb but now the organization says a summer

intern erroneously confirmed the names. asiana airlines could bring a lawsuit. pennsylvania's strict voter i.d. law is being taken to court on monday to decide if it should be enforced or if the law is unconstitutional. the 2012 legislation could require pennsylvania voters to show a valid i.d. at the polls. state officials say it will cut down on the fraud and opponents say it will discourage people from voting. the 5-month-old hunger strike at guantanamo bay has reportedly shrank by 26. going from 186 to 81 over the past five days. the royal baby hype is bigger than ever. any day now, william and kate are expecting the birth of their first child. even souvenir shops are getting in on the excitement, stocking up on royal baby merchandise. >> we've photo thissed a connection, a very world connection. we've had huge response. in fact, a couple of the lines

sold this past weekend that we put them in the stores. bookmakers say people are betting on monday or tuesday as the big day. well, a new week on wall street and main street begins with twinkies and other hostess products returning to the store shelves nationwide after a company forced out of business. 3d printing has been around for 20 years and has been pretty expensive to run, now, a device call the kube retails for 300 bucks. and puts the power into consumers hands. 3d printers work by depositing a thin layer of plastic or other material in a pattern determined by a computer program and then layering it over and over again. "the financial times" reporting that apple is on a hiring spree for people to work on the iwatch project. timing if it happens could arrive late this year at the earliest. the owners of the new york twin towers are scheduled to go

it's lefty's first win in europe since 1993. and a confidence-builder go into next week's british open championship. we do have sad news. one of the world's top high-speed motorcycle riders he actually died in a crash in maine on sunday trying to race at more than 300 miles per hour. right before the attempt, bill warner talked about the dangers of riding at such high speeds. >> i just turn it up a little bit at a time. and we've gotten a 296. so we got just a little bit more to go. but hopefully, we can keep it on the ground. >> tragically, warner lost control while traveling at 287 miles per hour. and was killed. he was just 44 years old. and american david colturi won the dangerous and exciting diving event high above lake garda in italy. it makes me nervous watching it. he completed an amazing combination of twists and turns in the air before a perfect landing. good for him. i would have belly-flopped on that one. >> seriously, i'm scared.
