hunger is a growing threat to four million syrians as the deadly civil war stretches into the third year. save the children says one in 20 children around damascus are severely malnourished. today marked the first of three days of national mourning in kenya. the four-day siege at nairobi's westgate mall is over. about 175 people were injured including americans. kenya's president says 11 suspects are in police custody but many questions remain including the fate of an unknown number of hostages. the death toll from an earthquake in pakistan spiked overnight. officials say 200 people died.

this morning there are reports of strong after shocks. a broadcast aired images of what is being reported as a new island. they believe the formation is a mud volcano that is only temporary. let's get the latest with all of this. bill karins joins us now. >> a very large earthquake causing an island to appear out of nowhere. what's going to happen with all of this rain over florida. right now we are dealing with just like yesterday morning heavy rain moving through central florida. you already picked up about two inches yesterday. the good news overnight, yesterday our european computer model has the large ocean storm over the east coast. it shifted further offshore to agree more with our american model. it is not over with yet. it will see minimal effects over

the weekend and into monday. winter storm warnings in effect for areas of western montana. we could pick up enough show that you will have to be shoveling. no signs of shoveling in the central u.s. temperatures are pretty warm. today we are looking at a decent warmup in many spots on the map. temperatures in the 70s from atlanta northward. there will be showers and storms from atlanta and possibly charlotte and throughout areas of south carolina. it looks like a lot of warmth. brazil calls out the u.s. over nsa eves dropping. plus, why now is the time to plan your holiday travel.

welcome back. temperatures feel like mid summer in a few cases. a warm day in texas and colorado and minneapolis 76 degrees this time of year. the southeast is a rainy spot. if i have airport concerns from heavy rains possible delays in tampa and orlando. atlanta and charlotte hit and miss showers. delays shouldn't be too bad. this will be the last rainy day in the southeast. we will begin to dry out a little bit. in entertainment a new law signed in california will cause greater problems for paparazzi. with a hush from halle berry and jennifer garner those who harass could face up to a year in jail. the wrongful lawsuit is coming to a close.
