i would imagine more people are at unemployment offices. >> that is correct. they have also been flooding the website. the number of federal workers that have been furloughed has surpassed the average for the entire year. normally the number is around 300. more than 6000 have done so since tuesday. they are eligible for benefits because technically they are considered unemployed. molly martin was told she would not find out for another three weeks if she was approved and what percentage her salary she would receive. >> thankfully we do have savings. you do not want to crack into that. you're hoping you can get through until you get another paycheck. >> officials say those who do receive benefits will have to

furloughed if the shutdown continues into next month. general dynamics and huntington -- if they cannot get workers onto the site, they will not be able to fulfill those contracts. boeing deliveries could be delayed. completed planes require final authorization before they can be handed over to customers. futures are a little bit lower today. fewer jobs were added than forecast in september. if you own a hyundai, they will defer all auto loan payment during the shutdown for current owners. furloughed employees who want to buy a car in october will be offered a 90 day deferral. that could be a good move for

impacting the unemployment offices. >> good morning. they are coming to the unemployment division. the number of people in the last two days have surpassed the average for the year. molly has her share of bills to pay. two weeks ago she bought a home in pigtown and has about $65,000 in outstanding student loans and a car payment. but now as a furloughed worker she no longer has a paycheck. >> just be really careful. you do not go out anymore. you have to make sure you're careful at the grocery store. >> she filed for unemployment. >> we want to have that as something to catch us in case. >> there has been a flood of furloughed workers doing the same thing since the partial government shutdown. the average number of federal workers who apply for benefits

one more day. jennifer franciotti joins us live to explain. good morning. >> good morning. marylandersere's -- are particularly hard hit. the number of federal employees furloughed coming to the unemployment office has surpassed the yearly average. on average the unemployment division sees about 3500 employees looking for benefits. more than 6000 have done so since tuesday. they are eligible for benefits because technically they are considered unemployed. we did speak with several furloughed workers who said they are told they could be three weeks before they find out what if any benefits they will be eligible to receive. the state office is working very hard to process these claims as quickly as possible. if they are given back pay, they
