over a world class soccer match up. a big game that means big money to the city. keith daniels is live at m&t bank stadium with more. hi keith? >> karen good evening. the game is over, and the rain is here now. ac milan and chelsea, two of the best teams in the world. here in baltimore tonight. and you can better believe, that hotels, bars and restaurants are loving soccer fans, and their money. city and state officials are expecting the soccer faithful to pump between 15 to $20 million into the local economy this weekend. and money spent at hotels and places like a popular pub in fell's point, where the crowd is pouring in. >> i mean, we are talking maybe 40 percent increase by the end of the day today. we have seen it from monday all the way until the peek of it today. and we will see it tomorrow morning for brunch too. >> tough to say an exact dollars but for our hotel, 100, to $150,000 for the weekend. >> well, we are back here live,

and it was a sellout crowd. more than 71,000 soccer fans. packed the place. and this is what it looks like when that many people pour into the street after the fun. traffic, traffic, traffic. live at m&t bank stadium. keith daniels, fox 45 news "late edition". >> all right. thanks keith. >> rescue crews continue the search for a maryland teen that went missing off the coast of south carolina. initial reports have identified the boy as 13-year-old lonnie hall. he was last seen swimming in the ocean near garden city yesterday afternoon. a spokesperson for ripken baseballed the teen traveled to south carolina with his family for a baseball tournament. in a statement the vice-president of amateur baseball for ripken baseball said we are doing whatever we can as an organization to assist the family at this difficult time. >> a registered sex offender pleads guilty to possession of child pornography.

45-year-old audi murphy of dundalk is facing up to 30 years in prison. back in march, of 2008, police seized several computers from his home and found more than 70 sexually explitt sis pictures of children. murphy had been previously convicted of rape involving a minor. his sentencing is set for september. >> federal investigators are probing the wreckage of a helicopter that crashed on interstate 70 last night, and burst into flames. there were no injuries on the ground. but all four people on board the chopper were killed. investigators say the helicopter crashed 15 minutes after taking off from the hagerstown airport. it was en route to frederick. >> the helicopter is flying low, and we know -- i was told that the wires that were struck, were about 70 feet off the ground. so that gives you a sense of what height the helicopter was flying. we also know one of the witnesses reported that weather was clear, low to the ground, and very foggy.

>> in this type of flight, investigators say it is up to the pilot to decide what altitude to fly. and what weather to fly in. >> and you can hear more from today's news conference about the deadly helicopter crash on our website. just go to foxbaltimore.com, and click on "raw news". >> the four people killed were involved in a benefit for at-risk youth and spent the evening raising money for charity. kim felix was a passenger on the helicopter. she is well known in frederick county for her work with charities. the other three victims were employees of a flight training school in frederick. 43-year-old niall booth was killed. >> he was a philanthropist. a really, really giving person. he loved to give back to society. that's what his final hours on earth were spent doing. giving back. >> charity was in the process of raising funds for an event for at-risk youth scheduled for september. >> and investigators looking into dc deadly metro crash turn

the attention to the automatic train control system. ntsb officials reported that part of the circuitry that keeps the train separated was having problems detecting trains shortly before the crash. even though it was replaced five days earlier. now there is word that another circuit had a fluctuating signal since the replacement in december of 2007. however, metro managers say that doesn't necessarily mean trains disappeared from the system. >> the sampling reviewed the rush hour performance of one rush hour each month, during that period. the base on that sampling the current -- the circuit appears to have been doing the job of detecting trains. >> nine people died in the collision. it is the deadliest crash in the history of the rail system. >> meantime, senator mikulski is taking action to improve safety standards following the crash. she has introduced a bill that would establish federal safety standards specifically for

subway systems. among other things, it would require trains to carry digital recorders, similar to an airplane's black box. >> a hot summer day today. and it may be hotter tomorrow. meteorologist jessica starr is here with the first look at the sky watch forecast. really? >> yeah, things will steam up, and get steamy out there with the heat and humidity. and temperatures close to 90 degrees tomorrow. but we have one isolated rain shower. look at doppler radar, it looks like we will get a dry sweep out there. but zooming all the way into the city of baltimore. right on top of baltimore city. they are dealing with a wide spread rain shower right now. but otherwise besides that, things are dry. and things will be drying out overnight tonight. for the daytime on saturday. the main concern for saturday is going to be temperatures. right now, 75 degrees both baltimore and dc and 75 in haigers to this. but for tomorrow, hot conditions. close to 90 degrees. 66 degrees at 6 a.m., with sunshine. and then 83 degrees at noon with partly cloudy skies. and things warming up into the low 90s for tomorrow.

and then there are some thunderstorms in our forecast. i will tell you when those could make it back into our area coming up in a few minutes. >> tonight you need to know about an increase to the minimum wage. starting today, the federal minimum wage increase from $6.55 to $7.25. some employees are exempt from the higher rate like restaurant service and bartenders that receive tips for some business owners higher minimum wage may force them to cut back on staff, or their hours of operation. >> i mean, right now we have made a decision, because of where the current wage is and with the increase, that we will open later in the day. you know, just to make up for the difference. >> advocates for a higher minimum wage say the increase will keep more of the working poof poor from falling through the cracks. >> attention k-mart shoppers, the blue light special is back on. starting tomorrow, the discount chain will resurrect the famous

the swine flu. the health departed the person is an adult from the eastern shore that had no apparent underlying medical condition. officials are investigating. >> according to the centers for disease control, as many as 40 percent of americans could get the swine flu over the next two years. and several hundred thousand more could die if a vaccine is not ready, and widely available. but state health officials say not to panic. noting that as many as 160 million doses of swine flu vaccine should be available by mid october. >> our focus at this point is primarily on on getting a mass vaccination program in place. so that we can reach the target go populations that cdc is identifying for us. to prevent it. >> health officials say once the swine flu vaccine is available it will likely require two doses. given three weeks apart. >> for more information on the swine flu threat. head over to foxbaltimore.com and click on the swine flu icon.

>> earlier today, house majority leader and maryland democrat hoyer revealed lawmakers could remain in washington during part of august to work on a health care bill. but other members of congress are preparing for more delays on the president's promise reform. courtney keley has more. >> the choice is clear, doing nothing is defending the status quo. and i am not going to stand for future where health care premiums raise three times faster than wages. >> president may have to stand for more delays on health care. appears the senate will not have a health care bill before the august recess. >> we have a long way to go over the next couple of weeks, and months. >> the house bill may still be in play. the bill would have to be taken out of committee where it is stalled. and brought to the floor for a vote. but a divided democratic caucus may keep the bill from passing. gite a closed door meeting earlier in the week with the

president. blue dog democrats are signaling they do not have a agreement with the white house or democrats. republican message has been clear and consistent. slow down the bill. >> it is unfortunate, that democrat led house, is not wanting to make this a bipartisan goal of doing health care right. >> president obama has acknowledged that a divided congress may not have a bill ready before the august recess. but he says the work must continue. and that he wants a final bill before the end of the year. in washington, courtney keley fox news. >> president obama tries to smooth things over after making controversial remarks about the arrest of a harvard scholar. dr. henry lewis gates, sr. was arrested in his massachusetts home after police got reports of a burglary there. gates is african american and the officer that arrested him is white. on wednesday, the president said that cambridge police acted stupidly, but today he took a step back. >> these are issues that are

meteorologist jessica starr is back to tell us exactly what we can expect this weekend. jessica? >> hi karen. the heat will be turned up for tomorrow. temperatures in the low 90s. and the humidity will be high as well. but for today, we had some sunshine out there. and we actually had isolated storms. on radar. most of the area is dry but the downtown area, downtown baltimore, just saw an isolated rain shower move through the inner harbour. moving toward essex and dundalk and that's the last of the rain showers, 24 hours before we see thunderstorms move in here for sunday. but right now, temperatures across the region. 75 degrees in baltimore. 64 degrees in harrisburg. and 73 degrees in new york. and temperatures, that's going to be the main concern for tomorrow. our future scan model puts it in motion for you. right around 2:00. for tomorrow. we will be in the low 90s. right around 93 degrees at 2:00. our future scan model. see heat indexes in the mid 90s to upper 90s for tomorrow. definitely take it easy, if you have outside plans. or if you are working out in the

yard for tomorrow. wear light colored clothing because it will be hot and humid for tomorrow. now, we had one cold front move through today. that's what fired up the showers and storms along the mason dixon line. that has moved out to the atlantic ocean. by tomorrow morning, 9 a.m., we will wake up to sunshine. and then the high pressure system will be in control of our weather. we will bring in southwesterly winds for the daytime for tomorrow. and right around 5:00, ohio valley could see isolated thunderstorms. but we should stay dry here in maryland for most of the daytime tomorrow. and it is the secondary cold front that will move through here on sunday that we will have to watch for. because that could fire up showers as well as some strong thunderstorms in the afternoon hours on sunday. around 6:00,ing see southern portions of maryland. and delmarva peninsula could see showers and thunderstorms. even lingering into 8:00. until the cold front officially pushes through here late in the evening hours sunday. for tomorrow, if you are headed over toward ocean city, in the mid 80s. sun and clouds. and hot and hazy. great day to be over on the beach.
