the officers slowed down, and looked to see if he was off the bike and kept going, said the witnesses. >> i am angry about the situation. because it is devastating. they could have killed my son. what about that? he is a child. no child deserves that. >> to me that was the most egregious conduct i can imagine from a officer of the law. >> commissioner like that, that holds professional integrity at the highest level. so we will complete our expression if there is wrongdoing on the path of the police department. we will fix it. and if there isn't we will address that too. >> johnson suffered injuries to the right hand and foot. and bruces and abrasions to his body. the officers are not facing any criminal charges at this hour. >> police investigate whether a man found dead in harford county was a hit-and-run vic. found this morning at the 715 overpass. police will not release the name until family is notified. anyone with information meanwhile can contact the

aberdeen police department at (410)272-2121. >> one man is dead after a overnight shooting in southwest baltimore. it happened around 1:00 this morning. in the 500 block of east lynn avenue. police say a 39-year-old man was shot in the head. so far, no arrests. >> baltimore city police arrested a suspect in the murder of 16-year-old jerrod reed, he was gunned down on july 19. tonight police arrested brandon brown. police are looking into whether brown was the gunman at the cookout shooting this past weekend. 12 people were shot in that incident. no one died. >> we're teaming up with the baltimore city police tonight tracking down suspects in our fugitive files. joy lepola joins us live with the team of detectives at the warrant apprehension task force headquarters in north baltimore. joy? >> all right. thank you karen. well, over the past couple of weeks, here in the city of baltimore, we have seen so much violence. well here is your opportunity to pick up the phone and help clean up the streets of baltimore.

>> who will pay the mounting legal fees of mayor sheila dixon? that question still has no clear answer tonight. the mayor was reindicted on charges of theft and perjury but no law that said city officials can be reimbursed for legal fees if acquitted. experts say the mayor has the option of seeking reimbursement from the board of estimates. >> if you are found not guilty or they drop charges you get reimbursed. politically that doesn't sell quite as as well in times, when we are in terrible economic times and we have a smaller number of dollars to go around anyway. >> mayor sheila dixon is set to stand trial in september. but given the new charges, that trial could be postponed until later on in the fall. >> it is a life sentence for the man found guilty of a fatal shooting at the windsor in baltimore county. lewis determined the fate yesterday. jury convicted him in the murder of tavon chambers. chambers was shot and killed in

the parking lot at the windsor enduring a botched robbery back in july of 2007. a second man was also wounded in the shooting. >> and a 16-year-old boy will spend 18 months behind bars for taking part in a massive breakout from a state juvenile detention center. the frederick county states attorney's office said mcclellen pleaded guilty to first degree escape. in return, prosecutors dropped 16 other charges against the teen. all related to the may 27ed breakout from the victor cullen building. 14 juveniles were involved, in which six workers were hurt. >> that pilot in last week's deadly helicopter crash was warned apparently about severe weather before taking off. the n.t.s.b. released the information today. apparently 23-year-old jeffrey 94 dis told about fog, wind and lightning before leaving hagerstown regional airport. still no word on the cause of the crash. along i-70. all four people on board, you will recall, died in the crash.

>> rain showers hit maryland and brought plenty of damage with them. talk of a possible tornado. touching down in carroll county. myranda stephens has latest. >> i am here off constellation way. where you can see folks are cleaning up from today's powerful storms. to give you an idea. over here, it is part of a roof that went flying from across the street, and landed in this yard. and unfortunately, it was not the only flying object in today's storm. >> the storm rolled through the neighborhood just before 3:00 today. the winds were so strong they up rooted dozens of large trees and even tore off the entire roof of one home. neighbors believe the taj was the work of a tornado. but local officials say they cannot confirm that just yet. >> national weather service will send a crew to determine by the amount of damage that has occurred whether it was actually indeed a tornado or considered maybe a micro burst. >> only one minor injury in this

storm. a woman hurt her wrist while trying to shut the garage door. if this was an actual tornado it would not be the first. a tornado ripped through a neighborhood just about 5 miles from here, back in 1996. >> in finksburg, myranda stephens, fox 45 news "late edition". >> a storm damage was not limited necessarily to carroll county. this was the scene in west baltimore tonight after storms knocked down a tree, in druid hill park. partially blocking the street for hours. >> any more rough weather coming our way tonight? >> i don't know. i told you i am about to melt. >> yeah. >> meteorologist jessica starr is here with the first look at the sky watch forecast. >> i saw that in a movie once. you saw a person melt? >> i don't know. but most of the severe weather moving away. but confirmation there was a tornado today in frederick county today. with estimated miles per hour of 100 miles per hours. so keep investigating that as

. >> presidential obama said new numbers out today make him cautiously optimistic about the direction of the economy. but do his critics agree? jennifer davis has more. >> the president said new economic numbers show the recession gripping the nation is easing. >> the gdp revealed in the last few months, the economy has done measurably better than we had thought. >> the gdp or gross domestic product measures the total value of all goods and services produced within the u.s. considered the best barometer of the country's economic health. and although it fell by 1 percent in the second quarter that is less than expected. >> democrats cheered the numbers. saying there are a direct result of the $787 billion economic stimulus program they passed. >> all of those facts show the democrats were right.

and republicans didn't see the value apparently. in the recovery and reinvestment act. >> but g.o.p. argue the policies are doing more harm than good. >> this country will not grow itself out of recession. on the backs of the american people through higher taxes. government takeovers and bailouts. >> other critics point out that gdp has fallen four quarters for the first time since 1947 and consumer spending fell 1.2 percent in the second quarter after a slight rise the quarter before. >> the trend is for these numbers to be revised downwards. so we should not be popping any champagne corks any time soon. >> president said he won't consider it a full economic recovery until the nation's job situation improves. we are slated to find out where the unemployment rate stands next week when the next monthly jobs report comes out. in washington, jennifer davis, fox news. >> congress rushes to pump more cash into the federal cash-for-clunkers program. as it runs out of funding less

than one week after beginning. under the program, eligible buyers can get a $4500 rebate from the federal government. just for trading in an old gas guzzler for more fuel efficient vehicle. she hee nissan had 40 people trading in clunkers. >> it is helping a lot of people and certainly getting cars off the road that really should not be on the road because for both environmental reasons and safety reasons. >> the house voted today to rush another $2 billion into the program. the senate is expected to take action some time next week. >> now that brings us to the question of the day? do you agree with congress putting more money into the cash-for-clunkers program? at last check 33 percent say yes. 67 percent say no. now here is one of the responses. we got no name with this response. but it makes a lot of sense. to many people. taxpayers already own 60 percent of gm. so i would like to collect my free gm car. good luck on that. >> to read more responses, go to

and heavy rain showers out there as well as lightning strikes. for the daytime today. and all of that activity is moving out to the atlantic ocean. and taking a live look at the inner harbour. quiet weather overnight tonight. that's what we will welcome for the daytime for tomorrow. for saturday. for the first day of august. 74 degrees out there. at the inner harbour. partly cloudy skies. and winds are currently calm. but the humidity unfortunately is going to stay on the high side. 93 percent humidity right now. and it will continue to stay pretty high out there. state rainfall totals today. we had over an inch of rain reported at the inner harbour, and half an inch reported at wilmington. so a lot of rainfall in a short amount of time with the line of showers and storms that moved through our area. state temperatures right now in the mid 70s. 74 in baltimore. and 73 in dover. and 73 in hagerstown. and temperatures are going to drop only into the upper 60s. so it is going to be a little bit on the muggy and uncomfortable side, with the temperatures only dropping down to right around 67, to

68 degrees. on the future scan model. we have the cold front. that fired up all the showers and storms for today. and that's moving out to the atlantic ocean. weak high pressure is building in. so tomorrow, 9 a.m., waking up. a lot of sunshine. hazy sunshine for tomorrow. for the daytime for saturday. so most of the day, for tomorrow, we will be dry until 5:00. and then there is a secondary cold front. and that's the one that we are watching. because this could produce severe weather again for the afternoon hours on sunday. by 1:00, you could see a line of showers and storms could be developing in the afternoon hours. and lingering into 6:00, as the secondary cold front will be moving in here. future scan, will be on the warm side tomorrow. temperatures climbing to right around 90 degrees. above 90 degrees on the future scan model. 93 in baltimore. 90 degrees forecasting in cockeysville. beach cast tomorrow. partly cloudy skies. isolated thunderstorms in the vicinity. and temperatures in the mid 80s. so not too bad at the beach for this weekend. tomorrow, at the inner harbour, 89 degrees with hot and humid conditions.

. >> the ravens wrapped up the first full squad workout today. in front of an excite crowd of over 11,000 fans. after shakeing off the rust. guys put on a show for the fans and all eyes on the battle for wide receiver. with the future of mason up in the air. ravens have a battle for the ravens number one wideout. clayton is the favored. but young guys are making it interesting. including justin harper that the ravens drafted in 2008. offensive coordinator cam cameron said he likes the group of guys he has in place now. but it is too early to tell who will come out on top. >> the thing that everybody is talking about, obviously, is wide receiver position. and i am excited to see how it plays out. i am. i feel the same way about derrick as everybody else does. so i don't think we need to revisit that. with that being said we have a lot of talent and young guys that have to make the same strides and in the second year
