the atlantic what maryland city could get a direct hit from the potential hurricane in the sky watch forecast. >> and cash for clunkers, how it is turning into a cash cow for thieves. . >> hello again, i am jeff barnd. >> and i am jennifer gilbert. tropical storm danny is growing in the atlantic ocean tonight gaining strength and picking up speed. >> it could become a hurricane. and one track actually has it hitting close to this state. >> chief meteorologist vytas reid is here with a look at the sky watch forecast. vytas. >> watching the storm for a few days. and gathering strength over on the atlantic. tropical storm danny with winds at 52 miles per hour. gusting to 63. so actually is gathering strength. it was at 45 miles an hour, about an hour ago. with gusts in the upper 50s. but we will continue to see this storm gathering strength and has a very good core of energy to work with. as it continues to work off the

warm waters of the atlantic. here is the potential pants of the storm. making a turn. this is important turn in here friday afternoon and friday night. the national hurricane center track is off the coast of the eastcoast of maryland and also delaware. so folks in salisbury, also ocean city, will probably have to deal with rough surf friday night to saturday morning and afternoon. and this track could go further west or further east. anywhere in this blue shaded area. and then it has the potential landfall up to massachusetts. watch it closely. looking at other model data. this is different model run showing different track potentially. and you can see a couple of them getting close to the carolinas and also very close to new jersey and maryland. so we have to watch this storm closely because if it shifts further west we remember isabel. hopefully they will want to see that again. nonetheless something to watch for a few days. back to you guys. >> okay. vytas, you can track danny with

keith daniels is live in fell's point with the latest on this. keith, what can you tell us? >> live at the killer trash vintage clothing store. fed up worker beat up the suspect here. before police could catch him. police believe the repeated robber is 39-year-old mark low max, surveillance camera caught him on tape at one business wearing a hat in one picture. no hat in the other on. low max is accused of robbing 17 businesses since august 1st. and including twice at the cvs on north charles, duncan donuts and killer trash vintage store. he was surprised when the work oner and boyfriend beat him. >> he went for my throat and turned his back on michael. so when he did, my boyfriend picked up the bat we had back here and hit him numerous times until he was on the ground, and i called 911.

>> state casino officials visited baltimore today to tour the proposed site for slots. the original plan was to put 500 slot machines near the site at m&t bank stadium. since the original bidding process, the city and developer have decided to increase the number of slots to 3500. and now, they want to build a casino a couple of blocks away on russell street. they say it is a better more profitable location. >> it pulls the casino, further away from any residential use or property. it also is more visible site. so we think, that means more business. and more money for the city. >> and there are some concerns with the new spot. including contamination. it is the former site of maryland chemicals. company that packaged dangerous substances. it is unclear how much it would cost to clean it all up. >> some thieves in montgomery county are trying to cash in on the cash for clunkers program.

one dealership in germantown said they are overflowing lot of clunkers have become a part supply lot for thieves. everything from radios to seats and taillights. seemed to disappear almost immediately every night. >> i guess you will see that the vehicles are without a radio. >> we have to hire someone to be out here. >> dealerships have to hang on to clunkers until they are reimbursed. they are still waiting for the cash. that's easiest way to make sure that the consumers did not try to take advantage of the cash for clunkers program that stipulatelates only one clunker rebate per person. >> a storm is currently brewing off the coast. >> check in with chief meteorologist vytas reid to see when it comes our way. >> good news is that it won't be tonight. quiet conditions out there. but keep our eye to the sky. toward the week. saturday is the day. as far as getting a close call here. skycam inner harbour. quiet conditions. 73 degrees. partly cloudy skies. winds out of the west at three.

humidity levels 84 percent. now talking about tropical storm danny. looks like we have the winds at 52 miles per hour. and gusts at 63. and so definitely we're looking at a very strong strong storm potentially as it gathers through the area. so definitely again it will be a potential category one storm down the road. and it looks like we will see this continue to formal lies over the warm waters of the atlantic. so this is going to be a problem to deal with as we get toward the weekend. talking about the tracking of the storm. it will continue to make a right turn. this is a important right turn friday evening. because depending on how it turns. it could be further to the west. or further to the east. and the further west it goes, more trouble for us. but right now the potential track is within the cone of incidents and this is what the national hurricane center shows. it will potentially make landfall up there off the nantucket region up toward massachusetts. we will watch it closely as we continue to see it push north on saturday evening. but then saturday afternoon, few hundred miles, potentially off

the coast. we could see rough surf and maybe gusty winds toward ocean city. and salisbury. and then also we can see some rain bands associated with the storm. now here is what the tracking models -- different models show the track of the storm. few coming close to the carolinas, and also kind of close to maryland. but even one track taking it over eastern portions of the long island up to parts of new england. so close one as we get toward saturday. back at home. here is what's going on right now temperature wise. 82 downtown baltimore. 76 in harrisburg. looks like temperatures will cool down as we get down the road here. one more medium warm day. when i say that, mid to upper 80s. as we see showers to the north. front kind of retracts through the area. giving us chances for off-and-on spotty showers. especially towards friday, saturday, sunday. right now looking at relatively clear conditions, few high thin clouds over the region. and as far as the timing of that rain, it looks like on the future scan, tomorrow clear skies for the morning. in the afternoon, partly cloudy

. >> get this. a wild card chase in georgia ends with a driver jumping out on of what police say was a stolen car. and the vehicle kept moving. the car hit a curve and rolled down an embankment with the female passenger still inside. woman got out of the car on her own. police grabbed the driver that charges include speeding and theft. his female companion was charged with theft by receiving stolen property. >> how does a 13 1/2 foot tall truck fit through a 12-foot tall tunnel? it doesn't. truck driver in alabama learned the hard way. this 18-wheeler folded like an accordion after the driver tried to drive through the tunnel, which was scraped but not damaged. the state transportation departed the driver blamed his gps for route oning him that direction. >> have you seen this giant blue
