in your home. >> live in high definition, from wbff tv in baltimore, this is fox 45 news "late edition". >> >> hello again, i am jeff barnd. >> and i am jennifer gilbert. it is a story you saw first on fox. now another disturbing video has surfaced. this one from an acorn office in san bernardino california. >> for the fourth time since only last week, an independent producer releases a video, showing an acorn worker giving business advice to a couple pretending to be sinct up a prostitution business and using underage girls from el salvador on. this time the worker reveals that she used to run her own escort service and that she killed her husband, apparently in self defense. >> well, the first video released from an office here in

baltimore. and tonight we have learned that the organization is potentially operating illegally in the state of maryland. >> keith daniels is standing by live in lower charles village with latest on this side of the story. keith? >> live outside the local office on west 25th street. it is an organization under fire again. as we mentioned. acorn came under scrutiny recently after allegations of questionable activity surfaced during an undercover investigation. workers in baltimore, were accused of helping a man and woman posing as a pimp and prostitute. skirt tax laws. now, we have learned baltimore's acorn organization has been essentially operating illegally. it forfeited the charter after failing to file its annual personal property returns, in 2006. tax information required. >> the law said when a business becomes forfeited it is supposed to wind down operations and stop doing business. >> well, state officials say

acorn is no longer in good standing. which means, among other things, the group cannot receive state funds. we're live in lower charles village, keith daniels, fox 45 news "late edition". >> investigators have not decided yet whether a student that killed an intruder will face criminal charges. police say the johns hopkins student found the intruder inside the garage of his off campus home. he killed the man with a samaurai sword. the intruder, 49-year-old donald rice has a long history of burglarizing homes and was just released from jail on saturday. >> friends of the student say he was acting in self defense. >> i mean, i think he said that the guy lunged at him, even when he had the sword. obviously he was not coming quietly. so he probably just, you know, lost control a bit. and i cannot blame him. you know, i mean, he already had two laptops stolen that day. >> student's home had been

burglarized hours before the incident. >> and that brings us to the question of the day. should charges be filed against the man that used a samaurai sword to kill an intruder. at last check, 98 percent say no. 2 percent say yes. john from glen burnie said. his home was invaded and the student took another bad guy off the streets. he should have a parade. not criminal charges. >> in annapolis tonight prosecutors urge lawmakers to toughen laws against gangs. baltimore state attorney jes pee said mandatory consecutive sentences for criminals are critical. >> what we want to do is make sure that those individuals that are stealing and robbing our youth, of their future. are the ones that we use this statute you and we put them away for as long as possible. >> but the a.c.l.u. said young people should not be prosecuteed for being associated simply with gangs. >> a teenager charged with raping a 7-year-old girl in

crofton back in march will be tried as an adult. anne arundel county judge said part of the decision came from the fact that david raszewski admitted his actions were wrong. several experts testify that he had an autism disorder and learning disabilities. he is facing 19 charges, and scheduled to go on trial at the end of the month. >> the fda gives the green light tonight to the swine flu vaccination. this approval means mass production of the vaccine now. health and human services secretary kathleen sebelius is confident there will be enough of the vaccine for everyone. >> the vaccines for this virus are being produced under careful fda oversight. using the same licensed manufacturing processes and facilities used for seasonal flu vaccines. >> until the swine flu vaccination becomes available, however, sebelius urges all americans to get the seasonal flu shot now.

>> 200 million swine flu doses have already been ordered. >> mixed information tonight about how long someone is contagious when they have the swine flu. people may be able to spread the virus for a week after symptoms first appear. health officials have been telling people to stay home for just one day. after the fever subsides. >> meanwhile, the university of maryland said 506 students are now reporting flu-like symptoms on the college park campus. most students, however, have already recovered. >> brand new biotechnology center is now open for business, and baltimore's world trade center. governor o'malley cut the ribbon today at the new facility. it is described as a one stop portal for maryland's programs and resources. in the bio science industry. >> this bio center is really a center helped to grow the industry here. brings together the resources for companies to be successful and able to network and access other sources from the state. and grow the business. >> the bio tech center worked

just south. some folks down there in and southeast of easton getting light rain. and continue to see the line continuing to push south. but a chance around baltimore city to get rain. and heavier rain southwest of us. over parts -- there is a strong low stuck down there. but our rain is coming from a front that will be moving in from the north. that will change our temperatures. sitting at 75 in baltimore. 74 in d.c. we will see the temperatures on the cool side of things tomorrow. so moms and dads out there dress the kids warm for the morning bus ride. temperatures around 68. cloudy skies w showers. in the afternoon. with temperatures only in the lower 70s. detailed look at how this cool air stick social security around coming up. >> thank you, vytas. >> things are heating up at a baltimore county middle school. literally. parents and teachers at ridgely are saying you they are stuck in classrooms that sometimes reach 100 degrees. the school was renovated in 2007. adding energy efficient windows with tight seals to go along

with new air conditioning. but the new ac units were cut from the budget. now the kids are just sitting in those hot humid rooms. >> so just a matter of us getting back with the engineers, and just looking for a solution that will be viable and feasible for us in the near future. >> well parents have been brings the issue of air conditioning for almost two years. because state money was used during the last renovation, ridgely is not eligible for state funding for the next 15 years. >> controlling certain vehicles was not easy for some people today. first a truck plowed into a carroll county home. police tell us 28-year-old justin morgan driving a ford truck on old gamber road when he went through a stop sign hitting a van. the truck crossed the road. hit a mail box. went through a wooden fence and hit a home. in the 2900 block of cedar hurst road. >> i was sleeping. my family was in the living room right there. playing. and i guess, the guy hit a couple of cars out there.

and i mean, when he came through there. i heard boom. you know what i mean? i heard it loud. >> the cause of the crash is still under investigation tonight. >> and a woman is injured after her suv slams into a school this afternoon. in northwest baltimore. it happened around 1:30. at rod well in liberty heights avenue. woman trapped in the car for some time. no word on the extent of her injuries tonight. >> >> the gang of six continues to hammer out health care reform. coming up. what its version includes instead of a public option. and why critics say it just won't work. >> and the latest this evening, on the murder investigation of a yale grad student. why we will have to wait to find out how she died. >> and buyers beware.

. >> inching closer to a showdown between u.s. house and u.s. senate health reform bills. we will know tomorrow what the gang of six will be doing. craig boswell reports from washington d.c. >> senate finance committee chair baucus plans to release his draft bill wednesday. he worked for months with a team of bipartisan negotiators the gang of six. the bill in its present foreman dates some people buy private insurance on their own. that at certain income levels qualify for tax credits. committee members say details need to be ironed out. >> that subsidy gets very expensive. and runs the cost of this bill way up. and that's what we have not figured out. >> even with subsidies some could pay 13 percent of income for insurance premiums. or pay a penalty for no insurance. >> then they want a employee mandate. that means if you are over making over $66,000 a year and you don't have health care.

>> some estimates 4 million of uninsured would be required to buy coverage without government help. >> the framework of the baucus bill does not include a so-called government run option but calls for a coop owned by policyholders. the bill also bars benefits for illegal aliens and expected to cost $880 billion over 10 years. >> i think there is a growing sense this bill will pass. >> some objecting to a proposed requirement that some states pay the cost of expanding medicaid. in washington, craig boswell, fox news. >> senator ben cardin met with doctors and nurses hearing concerns about health care reform. the event was a far cry from the rowdy town halls that were routine this summer. medical professionals told cardin what they liked in the plan and what they did not like. >> we see a lot of patients that come in, and they are basically at the end-stage of illness. because they have not been able to get the proper health care. because of their uninsured.

other one in the chest. authorities say the suspect then ran away. but police found him hiding behind a nearby house. >> lots of sun earlier today. then it went away. >> yeah, what can we expect for the rest of the week? check back with vytas reid. vytas? >> looks like changes coming towards the week. but dealing with clouds and little a little bit of rain off-and-on for the next couple of days. skycam right now. downtown. shows relatively quiet conditions. cloudy. 71. winds calm and humid at 84 percent. looks like we have a few showers south of the city. pushing down around the dc area. and across the bay. still a few pop-up showers north. there is a chance we can get more shower activity through the day tomorrow. so i recommend you keep the umbrellas nearby. looking at temperatures in harrisburg at 68 degrees. 73 in new york city. 75 in baltimore. and down in richmond. sitting at 71 degrees. and in pittsburg, 68. so it looks like we will continue to see the cooler air following the cold front over the next couple of days. the temperatures we have seen in the 80s are gone bye-bye.

as we continue to see the 70s push down out of the north. and see the cooler air stick around for several days. high pressure is following that. and we will be happy to see that. toward the weekend. getting clearing from the clouds. and get rid of some of the showers that will be around for the next couple of days. tomorrow, mostly cloudy skies. chances for off-and-on showers. 40 percent chance. and temperatures around 73 for the high. and northeast wind at five to 10. and look at the five-day forecast. looks like 71 on thursday. 40 percents chance for showers, friday. 76 degrees. and mostly cloudy in the morning into the afternoon. maybe breaks in the clouds. about 20 percent chance for a little shower. and then on saturday. looks like a decent day. 70 degrees. partly cloudy. and then sunday looks like 73 ask with mostly sunny skies. and dryer air will continue to move into our forecast as we round out into early parts of next week. back to you guys. . >> watching those animals is

about to get more costly right here in baltimore. weekday adult ticket prices at the maryland zoo in baltimore going up to it $13. that's a $2 hike. seniors pay more. zoo officials say the increases will offset budget cuts. children, weekend and online ticket prices all remain the same. the increases go into effect monday. >> toxic drywall is destroying property and making homeowners sick nationwide. the consumer product safety commission is blaming it all on drywall. manufactured in china. most homes affected were built between 2006 and 2007. some warning signs, sulfer smells, strong ones and corrodeing metal. . >> raven's head west to tangle with the chargers in san diego sunday. we will get john harbaugh's thoughts on the challenge ahead.
