i'm patrice harris. we have been talking about snow coming in for the day and so far so good. we don't have very much. meteorologist jessica starr is here with all of the details. i don't know when i smiled this big and used the word snow in the same sentence. >> reporter: i snow you were cheery. we have seen cold temperatures, but all in all no real snow. let's go to the radar. there's a low pressure system that is down to the south just off the coast of north carolina and virginia na is goin that iso scoot by the delmarva peninsula and scoot out to assay. othe sea.on the backside of it y showers over toward ocean city and delaware south. and otherwise we will have

morning. pretty empty this hour this morning. if you're talking about snow, the on white stuff you're going to see here this morning is the remnants of the blizzards that we had, the snow that formed over ice and mounds like this. other than that, pretty good out here. take a look at the roadways, even with the rain that we saw overnight, not too many puddles to be concerned, and slick spots coming from the city down to this area, but nothing to be concerned about. the issue here this morning is i should put my gloves on, it's chilly out at this hour. other than that, patrice, we will take this and side with mother nature and hope that she will bring us warmer weather especially with the weekend forecast on the way. a man is nearly stabbed to death over the weekend while leaving a pub at federal hill. it was supposed to be a fun night to raise money for swag football team. as he left the bar, two women

model. massive cutbacks in spending have been tough on local government. this morning the maryland association of counties will meet in annapolis to ask state lawmakers not to make anymore funding cuts. there have been deep cuts across the board to county, and health, fiscal year 2010 has been the toughest year in memory for local government funding. they say with so many cuts, 2011 is already expected to be tough as well. layoffs are on the way for city workers in annapolis. the city is trying to cut a 12.1 million budget shortfall. that could mean as many as 60 employees lose their jobs. it will be the first time in the city's history it has had to layoff workers. 40 more positions that are already vac not are no vacant ad to be refilled. the layoffs start next week. four days after the 8.8

a patient numbering system. >> so far they have helped more than 12,000 people in port-au-prince. the u.s. naval ship comfort that is based out of baltimore is still docked in the property of aau-prince hospital. the hospital has released last patient and now workers waiting for orders on what to do next. the millitary officials have not said if the ship will be headed back to baltimore anytime soon. many doctors working in haiti say they still need the ship to help the country recover. in the age of instant messages and e-mail, snail male has become even slower. with fewer people mailings letters, the post office is struggling. now they say that big changes are needed to cut costs. the postal service is $10 billion in debt. the postmaster general says that stopping saturday deliveries

waiting to see if that snow will fall. meteorologist jessica starr is here and the answer is. >> probably not, that is the good news. we could see flurries later today, but more or less the low weather system that we have, we have a potential to see a little bit of snow. it's going to scoot on by the delmarva peninsula. we will see strong winds from the backside of this low pressure system. you can see showers the further north into new york and pennsylvania. let's zoom in a little bit and showing you a little bit heavier toward dover and salisbury and ocean city and that is pretty much where the significant amount of rainshowers are going to be today. it's going to be over toward the southern tip of delmarva peninsula. we still have a potential to see light showers in the area and a couple of flurries mixed in. the good news is no huge accumulation because the ground temperature is so warm. it's in the upper 30s for the ground temperature. that is where the air temperature is as well. 38 for baltimore and d.c.

37 in dover, and sal salisbury. and hagerstown cooler where they have a chance of seeing a couple of inches accumulating in the higher elevations of western maryland and west virginia 27 degrees for them this morning. the low pressure system is going to move out to sea later today, but on the backside we will see breezy qns and the cloud condits are going to linger and overcast skies later today and for most of the daytime for tomorrow, for thursday, so waking up tomorrow cloudy conditions, breezy conditions, a gradual clearing later in the day on thursday, maybe could see a couple of peaks of sun late in the day on thursday, but mother nature is going to be nice to us. high pressure system is going to build in nicely just in time for the weekend. high pressure system is going to bring mild air and a lot of sunshine to the re region in the later half of the weekend into next monday. temperatures are going to feel spring-like close to 60 degrees,

but it's about time that we got to that mark with the upper 60s and low 60s. for today, unfortunately, for wednesday, eastern shore, and heavy rainshowers and 39 degrees a cold day, overcast skies and the winds will be breezy out of the north at 10-15 miles an hour. central maryland, 41 degrees, and cloudy skies and light rainshowers in the area, off again, and on again, and if you head toward western maryland, driving out there, you will have a chance to see the snow showers mixed in with the rainshowers with the temperature as 33 degrees later today. down to the baltimore, 44 degrees, over skies and overd rainshowers. the roads will be wet so we could see refreezing in the outlying areas. take note of that. seven-day forecast, look at this. once we get rid of the low pressure as it moves out to sea, 42 degrees for tomorrow, for thursday, and mostly cloudy
