an elementary school in south baltimore, school officials say the boy was acting suspiciously so they decided to search his backpack and that search turned up the gun. >> anybody could have gotten shot in here, the principal, the teachers and this is a school and they are letting this happen. >> we are deciding definitely to pull him out. this is not the environment that we want our child in, not at all. >>the child has been charged as a juvenile with handgun possession. police are still trying to figure out who the gun belongs to and how the child got his hands on it. a maryland soldier loses his life to the war in afganistan. the department of defense is confirming 30-year-old army specialist anthony pacey has died. he was killed after being involved in a vehicle rollover. he had previously served in iraq for about a year and this was his second deployment. a former bal baltimore raven

will be in court to face domestic violence charges. mccontrary. on friday his wife got a court order against him stemming from a violence incident. he has been ordered to not abuse his wife or have contact with her. he retired after playing the 2002 season. a family files a $10 million lawsuit against baltimore county police. the family of ryan myers is accuse department of police brutality, negligence and wrongful death. myers died in 2007 an officer stunned him with a taser at his middle river home. his family said that he was bipolar and called 911 earlier in the day because they were wore ride about his behavior.

the police tasered him when he picked up a baseball bat. 26-year-old raymond taylor was mistakenly released from the maryland correctional adjustment center downtown over a week ago. he used his cell mate's id ward to fool prison workers. the 7 people that have been disciplined include correctional supervisors, and other officials, their punishment expand from reprimand to suspension without pay. >> to the board to the street that didn't workout very well. >> and taylor was caught in west virginia the day after his mistaken release. prison officials are trying to avoid similar incidents in the future by using finger print scans. the pentagon entrance that became the scene of a shooting last week is scheduled to reopen. the entrance will resume normal

operations this morning, both entrances of the pentagon metro rail station and the pentagon rail station re-opened on saturday night. everything was closed after patrick badel opened fire friday last night. two police officers fired back and badel died from his injuries. a cecil county family spent the last months in and out of hospitals dealing with the rare side effects of an h1n1 shot. teenager was paralyzed and developed transfers mallitis. the condition his immune system to attack his spinal cord. he started recovering since december when he first started to get treatment. >> it's so hard to get up to a flat surface and get my legs and put them on there. >> robert is about to begin rehabilitation that could take

months. doctors say his condition may never be reversed, however, they say that his reaction to the swine flu vaccine should not be a deterrent for getting the shot because it's extremely rare. slots in anne arundel county could go back to voters to decide. the group fighting a casino says that they have more than enough signatures to stop it from moving guard. thiforward. this weekend they delivered 16,000 and that is on top of the 13,000 previously delivered and verified by the anne arundel county of election. >> we were told that it's going to create $600 million for schools. right now annapolis is talking about cutting funding for schools. and it was going to save racing and it has done nothing of what we were told.

>> the cordish family that is behind the si casino is fighting the petition saying that they are overlooking fraud. last night the board approved ban city, county, state workers and lobbyist from the board. it would require staggered terms and two attorneys on the panel. the bill would reduce the number of members nominated by the mayor from 5 to 3. now the bill is on a vote for the city council. hundreds of patients do not know if where their students will go to school next year. last week the archdiocese announced that 13 baltimore area schools will not reopen because of budget problems. today the archdiocese will hold meetings with the parents and it will give the parents a chance to ask questions and will be held at three different schools. one of the schools that is

hosting a meeting is cardinal gibbins school which is slated to close. the school is more than a million dollars in debt. they will hold a rally protesting, and parents have launched a campaign and the students are writing letter. meanwhile the archdiocese says that every student affected by the closing will get another spot at another school. federal spending and abortion are of the issues that are healthcare reform. it has come down to the wire as president obama set a deadline on the pending legislation. >> reporter: as house and senate lodge into the final legislative phase this week, the fobbing suthefocus is on a doze. the house speaker wants to flip the votes. two of the house democrats say they are keeping an open mind but both are worried that the

president's proposal doesn't do enough to hold down the healthcare costs. >> i told the president that if the finished product is something i will vote for it, and but if it's not i won't vote for it. >> i don't know how we can pass a bill that doesn't support our business communitity and add more costs. >> reporter: abortion is a controversial issue led by the democrat and socially conservative democrats in the house say that the bill must include bill that would prevent federal funding of abortion. negotiations continue on that with the white house. >> the president has said from the outset we don't want to change the status quo on abortion funding, neither the senate nor the house bill has any federal funding for abortions. none. if abortion services are provided people would pay out of their own pockets in the senate and house bill, they do them in slightly different ways. >> reporter: mid-march is the deadline to try to get the house to pass the senate bill and each

will that carry over into the workweek? meteorologist steve fertig is here with a look at our forecast. >> patrice, yes, it will. we are looking forward to a nice day today and tomorrow. sky watch hd radar indicates a dry scan out there. we will put things into motion to see if there's any rain nearby. down to the south and west of us, as you can see moving through kentucky and parts of west virginia in the southern part, and through virginia, the western part of virginia, it seemed a little bit of rain, and maybe even a little bit of snow in the higher elevations. that is moving south and east and will miss us, we're looking forward to a decent looking day. take a look at the surface features, you will see that we got the high pressure center off to the north and west of us. get a northwest flow, that will keep things dry and keep those showers out of our way. the dry air will allow for sunshine today and upper 50s for high temperatures. so another nice day. if you liked yesterday we got more on the way today it looks like. take a look at our bigger

steady. 37 in hagerstown, and temperatures ranging colder as you head toward oakland, 30 degrees there and we're headed toward the high temperature in the eastern shore of 66 today with plenty of sunshine, northwest wind 5 5-15 miles per hour. they will vary a little starting weaker and picking up? strength. plenty of sunshine, a northwest wind at 5-15 miles per hour. the western part of maryland look for a high temperature there of 55 degrees, not bad even in the higher elevationed, schooler in the highest elevations but generally speaking out west, tonight looking forward to mainly clear skies. look real pretty and be chilly with the clear skies. typically we drop to 31 for the overnight low. we will be above that. northwest winds at 5-10 miles per hour. moving through the day today heading toward the 58 which will come as 3:00 this afternoon, we will get out of the upper 30s

but we do need to talk about maintenance work. bge crews are actually going to shutdown that ramp from northbound 95 on to russell street that is in effect right now and will be taking place until march 20th. now the way to get around all of this is to use 395 and then hit mlk as the alternate. as far as 95 traveling at 395, let's check in on that vicinity, and here it is, a pleasant ride there on the northbound and southbound stretch making that push down toward the beltway. 95 a little bit farther down moving at ka caton avenue, showg you what that scene looks like, favorable conditions, a few cars filtering down the northbound and southbound lanes toward the 95 exit. on the west side, it's looking good at liberty road nice and quiet, out and inner loop up toward 795. that's a look at the morning travels. patrice, back over to you. thank you.

shocking new developments in the murder of a baltimore county gas station owner. police make more arrests and reveal one of the suspects is the victim's own wife. myranda stephens has the latest. >> i can't believe it. >> reporter: still shocked by the murder of one of their neighborhoods residents in this whitemarsh neighborhood are even more stunned by polic who policw say was behind the killing. >> shocked, never dreamed anything like that could happen. >> reporter: 49-year-old william ray porter was gunned down inside of the gas station he owned. this weekend police arrested six suspects in the killing including porter's wife, 47 years old carla porter. >> we worked on friday evening and we couldn't event get close to her, but she looked like she was really distressed. >> reporter: ca carla porter, witnessed her husband's death. it involved car la's own sister,

investors cheered the latest unemployment numbers. the dow jumped 122 points, the nasdaq rose closing at the highest level this year the s&p 500 added 15 points. employers cut fewer jobs than expected in february. the economy lost 36,000 jobs, better than was expected. the government said that the giant storms that hit the east coast last month possibly skewed the data but it's unclear by how much. the national unemployment rate held at 9.7%. toyota's incentive plan offering zero percent financing seems to be working. evans.com says purchase intents done by research surged 40% to a 13 month high. toyota is not out of trouble. the house committee is asking the japanese for more more details. and telling them that there's an
