at the bus stop this morning you want the umbrella because there will be a few showers. 56 degrees is a mild temperature. we will be breezy through the day and the showers are possible early on and taper off by the evening. you see the temperatures stay fairly steady in the mid-40s all the way through this afternoon and evening. better weather to come. i will tell you all bee all abon a few minutes, but right now candace dold is here with the traffic edge. candace, good morning. >> reporter: thank you, steve and good morning. we're talking about anne arundel county, there's a car fire on the southbound lanes of 97, and it's at route 32. the problem is it takes out two lanes there. so just showing you the scene a little farther up moving on 97 at benfield boulevard. we haven't had any delays to talk about yet but unfortunately the southbound lanes will start to pick up quickly. be adviced that we will start to

see the delays soon. that's a look at the morning travels, patrice, back over to you. breaking news out of reservoir hill this morning where a baby has been found dead inside of a bag. megan gilliland engines us lives us live from police headquarters with the latest. good morning, megan. >> reporter: good morning, patrice. right now homicide detectives are trying to figure out what happened to this baby and could have done something like this. still a lot of unonsed questions here. here is what we can tell you. police received a tip from one of the baby's parents around 8:00 last night. when they arrived to the 700 block of druid park lake drive they found the baby's body inside of a bag buried in a shallow hole. the baby's age and that baby's gender is not being released just yet. we are told that the body was sent to the medical examiner to determine the exact cause of

death. again, detectives are working this case right now. we're hoping to talk with them later this morning to get an update and of course we will bring you that information as soon as it becomes available. patrice, back to you. >> don't know much about the baby at this point, but do we know anymore about where the tip came from that sent police out there? >> again, it's still an active investigation so they're not releasing a lot of information. we got confirmation that did this come from one the baby's parents. that tip came from them. no more information than that. we will continue to follow this story and update you as soon as we get more information. live from police hea headquarte, i'm megan gilliland, live early edition. fire broke out on auto glass company at mountain road at 3:00 yesterday afternoon. the shop was closed at the time. 60 firefighters were called in to put out the fire.

there's no word on the cause. a baltimore teenager is missing and police believe she may be in danger. they're asking for the public's help to find her. policshe ran away and an older e friend last saw her on friday at his essex apartment and she has not been seen since. anyone who those is asked to call police (410)307-2020. former raven michael mccrearay is going to be in court to tell his side of the story in a domestic dispute. mary mccrearay says her husband threatened her and carried a gun. the judge issued a temporary protective order, ordering mccrearay to stay away from his wife. the two are going through a divorce. mccrearay will have an stunt

opportunity to present his side of the story. from there the judge will decide if a final protective order will be granted to his wife. the number of homeless people in gal baltimore county s taken a significant turn for the worst. the number has grown 25%. the 895 people counted a 3rd of them say they are homeless for the first time. high unemployment rates and more people being evicted from their homes are the big factor for the increase. advocates for the homeless say those numbers don't tell the whole story. they say last year they served 5,000 people in baltimore county, and more than 1400 of them children. they're planning a rally today in towson to rally the county council for more funds for homeless programs. after two months of helping earthquake victims in haiti the

usn comfort and its crew are back home. the ship returned this weekend and family and friends couldn't have been happier. the 250 bed floating hospital left baltimore on january 16th with 550 medical personnel on board. they treated hundreds of patients with their 5 full-time operating rooms and many say, they couldn't have prepared for the level of devastation and injuries they witnessed. >> no, not really. mean, you have to fall back on your training and get the job done compartmentalize. >> it's not that you want to see, but i think we made a big difference for a lot of people. i think that is good. >> the group of doctors performed more than 8 surgeries over the past two months. fox 45 jennifer gilbert is on assignment in haiti. we will have special coverage starting sunday, march 21st. for a look at some the photos she is capturing now, jest chect

check out our facebook page. march madness is about to take over the nation and terp fans will have to travel to the other side of the nation if they want to watch their team live. later this morning, terrapin club members and students will be getting e-mails describing how to get tickets through the school and some probably will be made available to the general public as well. but if you want to follow the terps this year, it will take major dedication. maryland is the number 4 seat in the midwest bracket and will be playing houston in spokane, washington. the we looked it up this morning and the cheapest flight to get there is currently $736. there be two stops and it's a 10 hour trip. the tickets we found online range from 400 to $47 depending on where you want to seat.

5:39 now on fox 45 early edition. it's time to get a check of our forecast as we head into the new week. meteorologist steve fertig is here with a look at what we can expect. boy, did we get a lot of rain over the weekend. patrice we picked up 3.25 inches of rain. we add today by a quarter. this will be lighter rain and it will be the last bit of it before we're done. take a look at the sky hd radar and you see a few showers out there. you can see the things in motion. you can see the spinning motion and off the low coast center and that is going to bring the northerly flow of shower activity with the cooler air as well. you see more activity at the eastern shore obviously the than anywhere else closer to the low pressure center which is off to the delmarva pen 9 cul a. 9 -- peninsula and even tonight. the best chance this morning, as you can see.

coastal flood advisory for the eastern shore. and we have a coastal flood warning for the south and west areas of prince george's county and down to charles county and the d.c. area. flood warning in place for washington county as well as frederick down through montgomery county, too. these are the areas that are more susceptible to flooding. 44 degrees is the temperature, not bad in baltimore. the clouds keeping it mild. the clouds won't allow the temperatures to warm up a whole lot. this this is where we stay. temperature wise a few degrees warmer. northerly flow, the low pressure sitting off the coast. and the drier air is waiting to move in. meanwhile the windy conditions will turn breezy as we get into today and that will also subside as high pressure begins to build in here. we're looking the a nice mid-week as the trough of low pressure moves off to the east more and in comes the warm air as the ridge of high pressure starts to build. that will make for a real nice

rest of the week. we get into the upper 50s but then we're in the 60s. today 48 degrees, one more cool, damp day. 15-25-mile opinion or wind-milee eastern shore. and til still looking at breezy conditions and showers especially this morning and then they taper off into the evening. look for the western part of the state to have a few more showers. 47 degrees for the high and a 10-15-mile-an-hour wind. 39 degrees for tonight's overnight low. a 10-15-mile-an-hour wind, gusting to 25. still breezy then but the showers taper off and then we're looking at a much more in the way of improvement with 57 degrees for the tomorrow. partly cloudy skies, looking at a st. patrick's day. it should be very nice for those of you sel celebrating. 60 degrees, and 56 degrees and lots of sunshine for your thursday and 54 on friday. how do you like that? if you don't like that, how about 65 degrees on saturday and some showers later at night,

though. there's a car fire and it's on the southbound lanes of 97 at route 32. the good news is, all lanes are now getting by. so we don't have any lane closures but let's check at 97, a little farther up, at ben field boulevard. you can see a lot of cars there on the southbound lanes congregating and filling up the those lanes in fact. as far as the northbound, it's going to be light activity. you still have to deal with a bit of a slick ride. be aware of that as you are traveling this morning. use extra caution. checking in on 295, and 95 it's in excellent shape moving through the howard county region. and light activity at 95 and 395. we do have police activity inside baltimore blocking two right lanes of pratt street that is at president street. we will continue to monitor this situation and give you more details as soon as they get into our newsroom. that's a look at the morning

the president's deadline for healthcare reform is rapidly approaching, but as the hour tick by its future is in question. karen parks looks at the healthcare hype. >> each day we move closer in terms of narrowing the decisions that need to be made. >> reporter: but it's unlikely house democrats will make the march 18th deadline to vote on healthcare reform. the president is delaying his planned to trip to asia so he

can continue to lobby lawmakers. >> if it takes a couple of extra days after a year. it takes a couple extra days. >> reporter: they are working on dispute abortion language and money for medicaid programs. there's a reason for the rush to vote before the easter recess. >> the reason they want to get this done and not let people go go home and talk to the constituents. they will lose votes if they go home and talk to the constituents over the break. >> reporter: virginia became the first state in the union to pass a law that directly contradicts healthcare reform efforts in washington. >> we never gave washington the power to force us to buy a product. >> reporter: the bill states virginians won't be required to buy health insurance or pay health fines even if the federal government mandates. >> it may be largely symbolic that we're doing that, tell the federal government we don't want

them treading on healthcare decisions of our citizens. >> reporter: the government will sign the legislation even though it may not withstand a challenge. >> you are playing for the crowd trying to get some attention and trying to show that we're going to stick it to the federal government. >> reporter: virginia is not alone. 34 other states filed or proposed similar laws. here in maryland it's being sponsored b by senator ej pipki. >> the key point is does the federal government has the right to make its citizens to pay to be a citizen of the united states. >> reporter: even if the states offer their own preemtive strikes, the rhetoric in washington is being ramped. every day it passes, it's another day americans are living without coverage. >> health reform is not about numbers, it's about people. it's not about process as the
