hope you had a great weekend and already for a great workweek. meteorologist steve fertig is here to tell us what we can expect in the weather department. >> happy monday to you. >> and a happy, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, and friday. the weather is going to get weather and weather, although we have starting with a rainy one today. >> but once we get past that. >> we are going to get past that. >> you were talking about really good temperatures. >> i was telling you last weekend. it will pan out. we do have to get rid of the rain, we have a coastal flood advisory for the west side of the chesapeake bay and for the northern part of the eastern shore. and that is what we have as far as through this afternoon and through tonight until midnight for the eastern part of the state. also the rain bringing some heavy rain down to the south and east, looking at probably a couple of inches of rain that will continue through today and into tomorrow as we said before, it dries out and get drier air moving in. temperatures 53 degrees starting

11 minute clip at 54 miles per hour. now taking it from 795 down toward 95, the volume is already starting to build. so far we're in the green. right now 12 minutes at 53 miles per hour. and nothing to complain about through baltimore right now, southbound 95 from the fort mchenry tunnel toward the beltway, 54 miles per hour and 8 minutes there. that's a look at morning commute. back to you. 5:03 on fox 45 early edition. the teen accused of shooting david way yachiat is headed to . his attorney says he can prove that davis wasn't the shooter. megan gilliland joins us with the latest, good morning, megan. >> reporter: good morning, patrice. davis attorney says that surveillance video will clear his client. as the trial continues, he will identify another suspect. the suspect that he bleefdz i bs

the real shooter. as it stands now, lamont davis is to be believed the shooter pulling the drugger that july evening of last year and releasing the stray bullet that hit wyatt in the head and another victim in the forearm. davis was under gps monitoring at the time of the shooting for another crime. he was supposed to have the device on his ankle but the shooter on this ankle does not appear to be wearing one there. gps records suggests that davis was at home at the time or at least the device was. >> as long as they have these units, they can they will them where they're at and we can tell when a crime has been committed. >> reporter: but the company that supplies and monitors these gps devices in state of maryland admits that the tracking is not full proof. the role this evidence will play in davis' case will be up to a jury to decide. the trial is set to begin at 9:30 this morning. meantime, little raven wyatt is

slowly recovering. she had been in a coma for sometime, amazing back in school and physical therapy. her injury has inspired a call to action against violence across the city. megan gilliland, fox 45 early edition. a robber armed with a gun breaks into a home but he was met by a homeowner with a gun of his own. before the suspected robber could get out of the home he was confronted by wasn't the residents who grabbed his own gun and shot the suspect dead. neighbors in this quiet area are defending the resident's actions. >> i'm not saying he is deserving. but you break into the home. it's terrible. you got to do what you got to do. >> that's the way everybody grew up around here. you protect your own. >> police aren't releasing the name of either men involved. they say it's unclear why that home was targeted. the homeowner is a tow truck

operator and runs the business from the home. a man who was the victim of a robbery attempted last week is found shot to dead in his home three days later. police are now investigating whether the two incidents are linked. 22-year-old moses baker was found lying inside of the doorway of his owings mills apartment. he was shot several times and was taken to siania hospital where he died. someone tried to rob baker on january 23rd but they don't know if the robbery attempt and his murder are related. anyone with information is asked to call police (410)307-2020. a teenager is shot and killed in broad daylight in east baltimore. happened at 4:30 saturday afternoon in the 1400 block of lucern avenue. the boy he was taken to john hopkins where he died. the teen's uncle has no idea why this happened. >> he is a good guy.

he has been doing some things but he is a good kid. >> so far police aren't releasing any information about a possible suspect. if you are in danger of for closing on your home, may be getting plenty of warning and help. delegates passed a bill that requires the homeowners in danger of foreclose sure must meet be with the owner. it must include information on programs and counseling with the notice. lenders are required to certify that they have completed a loan modification assist before putting u a property up for sal. the house of delegates votes on a legislation that would the number of payments. the senate passed a bill to

change the guidelines so now the two proposals have to be merged. this would be the first update to maryland child support guidelines in more than 20 years. the mayor says she wants to make up the $121 million deficit without losing officers or raising property taxes. that means all other ideas are on the table including a blench tax. -- beverage tax. a group against that proposal is already speaking out. joel d smith is at santoni store. >> reporter: he is very much against this and he has his reasons why. this happened before and it didn't work then. he doesn't want it to happen now and it would affect his bottom line. we're talking about beverages, sodas, and juices of the we are not sure of the specifics. if it was similar to the tax

stay away from the property taxes. it seems that the city is trying everything, this could be the latest idea. >> what exactly are the people who are against this, what are they going to do to fight it? how do they plan to get the momentum going? >> reporter: initially, they're trying to get the word out. we're here today to try to hear them out. instead of listening to complaints, we don't want this and want that, we will be trying to look for solutions. we will talk to rob santoni to see what will work since this won't work and it will affect his bottom line and affect the grossers across the city, when they think they can go across the city lines and get something. robber ehrlich is unsure if he runs for governor. he misses being a part of the debate in annapolis. he has been traveling throughout the state meeting with voters but hasn't made a decision yet. he will consult his family

before announcing any decision. the maryland food bank is about to receive a big boost from the federal government. they will present a check for nearly $500,000. the money was included in a bill president obama signed back in december. it will go toward updates at the food bank warehouse and a community ktich thane wil kitchn next year. they have seen an increase of up to 50% demand for food in the last 18 months. stay tuned for fox 45 morning news for continuing coverage of. we will talk to the ceo about the epidemic of hunger in maryland. the president visits mill temporary troops in afganistan and lays the expectations of the summer surge against the enemy. we have more details about the president's trip. >> reporter: president obama reaffirms his commitment to the troops at afganistan during a

welcome back. 5:15 on this monday morning. a rainy monday it is. take a look, most of the rain, it looks like right now to the south and east of the eastern shore. and look toward the eastern, toward salisbury where the heaviest rain is falling. we had scattered showers mostly for the central and eastern part of the state and back to the west a little bit of activity there. it could be filling through the

day, because there's a lot more moisture as low pressure develops off the coast and continues to strengthen. we do have a flash-flood warning for cecil county until 6:30 this morning but a coastal flood advisory continues through 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, for actually the west side of the chesapeake bay and the eastside until midnight tomorrow. we are looking at the chance of additional rainfall amounts in the way of 2-3 inches of rain for the eastern part of the area. look at salisbury. a little bit done with 6 1/2 inches but the trend is generally to the south and east where the heaviest amounts will fall. even baltimore has seen 3 1/2 coming up. it's plain rain, 53 in d.c. 54 in salisbury and 46 in hagerstown. we have had chilly air moving in from time to time over the weekend and the overnight hours, but now we get a little more warm air, southeasterly flow bringing more moisture. that is going to set the stage as the cold front approaches to bring us rainfall totals. that is why we're so concerned

will flooding around the coast and the central coast ararea moves north it wraps around more moisture as we get through tonight and tomorrow. more rain but lesser amounts as we get into tuesday, and then we dry out nicely behind the system. look at what happens, the jet stream moves to the north and all of the warm air comes our way and we're headed this weekend to near 80 degrees. we're looking at at high temperature today, and gusting to 35. rain will certainly be in the forecast for today, for the eastern shore especially where we see the heaviest amount. even in the central part of the state could see strikes of lightning later in the evening. 60 degrees for high temperature with an east wind at 5-15 miles per hour. back to the west, we're looking at lesser amounts of rain but still a chance of scattered showers later in the day. 60 degrees for the high with a northwest wind at 5-10 miles an hour. 45 degrees with a 15-20-mile-an-hour wind gusting
