with my home boy. and they asked me to help them out. and i started to help. that's when they had me work here. >> but all the fun and music could soon come to a halt. last friday the owners of the rink got a letter from the baltimore county code enforcement threatening to revoke the license on april 7. they say the rink constantly stays open beyond required closing time of 12:00. causing complaints. and since the rink opened in december of 2008, police calls to the location have nearly doubled to more than 400 calls. >> we very rarely call out to the police department f anything is called out it was something that probably happened somewhere expels blamed it on skate works. >> and hundreds showed up at a community rally tonight to try to come up with some solution. to save the rink from shutting down. >> in a time when recreation centers are shutting down and

maryland, are taxed enough, and we cannot tolerate further tax increases. >> the budget is expected to win final approval in the house before the end of the week. >> the arundel county board of elections has certified that the almost 23,000 signatures gathered against slots at arundel mills are valid. opponents of the site needed less than 19,000 signatures to put the proposal on the ballot in november. >> maryland drivers could be seeing an increase in car insurance. the bill has passed in the house, it could raise the minimum liability coverage to 30,000 per injured person and 60000 per crash. policyholders could see increases ranging from $60 for vehicles on the lower eastern shore to $300 in baltimore city. >> we cannot afford it. we don't deserve it. we already have to carry liability. everyone does. and we carry adequate amounts. this is the wrong time, and

baltimore would be the hardest hit. so, no. >> maryland hasn't seen an increase since 1972. governor o'malley has said he will sign the bill, if it passes. >> and that brings us to the question of the day. are you willing to pay higher insurance rates for increased liability coverage? so far, 100 percent say no. michele writes on facebook. that will make more people drive without insurance, and make things worse. >> maryland senators consider a bill to keep violent students away from their victims. the measure will force students convicted of rape, sexual offense or other violent acts to attend different schools and ride different buses. measure was prompted by the beating death of 14-year-old chris jones. the house of delegates ha is considering a similar measure as part of the safe school act. >> maryland house committee will consider allowing tax credits for businesses that make donations to scholarships, for

private schools students. opponents of the bill say it is too close to a voucher program. the bill is already given the green light in the senate. and is endorsed by governor o'malley. >> emotional day in the trial of lamont davis. the man accused of attempting murder shooting of a little girl. crime and justice reporter joy lepola was in court, where one police officer cried describing the condition of the girl, after the shooting. >> not only was the officer in tears, so was the mother of raven wyatt that walked out during testimony today. a day in court, that got a very late start. two hours, after jurors were told to be at the courthouse there was still one juror missing. finally she appeared after a call from the judge. public tongue lashing followed. then came opening statements during which both sides laid out the cases. and the defense told jurors lamont davis could not have fired the shots.

non-profit group plans to restore 9 acres of the park. planning trees and creating walking trails. some city council members question why the city would devote funds to a new project when the city is planning to close existing facilities. >> frederick county announces layoffs and cuts to help balance its budget. the county will layoff 23 workers and eliminate another 79 jocks. the move will trim $5.7 million from the county's budget. the positions being cut are either vacant now or won't be filled after people retire. >> have you turned in your form yet? today is census day. benchmark that the federal government is using to how many census forms were sent back it looks like there is a lot out there. today the push to get counted hit the streets of downtown. close to 40,000 people living down there. but so far, only 35 percent have returned the census forms. and downtown partnership workers and the fire department are

an adult from baltimore. the person is maryland's 45th death related to the h1n1 virus. and state health officials say there will be more than 150 vaccination clinics next week. there is a resurgence of flu activity in nine southeastern states. and cdc is worried about a possible come back of the disease. >> the most prolific serial killer in the u.s. is sentenced to death as police fear he could be behind 130 murders. rodney akala was a contestant on the dating game back in 1978. prosecutors say he had already killed two women before his appearance on that show. and killed three more after that. he is also been linked to five teen murders in seattle, los angeles, and new york. and police found 1000 pictures of women in his storage locker. they believe some of the

overnight tonight. you can see not really any clouds around. pretty much across the 95 corridor. from this high pressure system. we have the dome of high pressure that is keeping all of the moisture off to the west. so for tomorrow morning, another day filled with a lot of sunshine. but even warmer temperatures. for tomorrow afternoon. tapping close to 80 degrees. by the afternoon hours for tomorrow. and into saturday. you can also see though, there is a cold front off to the west, with showers and thunderstorms embedded with them. this cold front inches in our direction. and as i put it in motion. you can see the precipitation breaks up as it goes over the mountains. by late saturday to sunday. more clouds around for sunday. for easter sunday. then sunshine. and we could maybe squeeze out a late spring shower during the daytime sunday. otherwise, most of the weekend will be dry. the bay cast for tomorrow. great day to head out on the bay. 76 degrees. sunny and warm. winds out of the south at five. and waves right around one football player foot chop.
