you're waking up to a little bit of a humid and warm morning out there. meteorologist steve fer significanfertig witha look at . a little bit of humid, we started to feel a little bit of humidity, but the thunderstorms held until tonight and in sports. the warm temperatures is allowing for the warm moist air mass that is conducive for showers and with thunderstorms. 77 degrees starting in the down town area in baltimore. 79 in d.c., and up in hagerstown 70 degrees. we do have the showers with thunderstorms especially to the west. you see the line of red through hagerstown. that is where we can have thunderstorms this morning but we do have the better chances' we see the frontal boundary push through for later activity with showers and thunderstorms. as far as the forecast, 82 degrees, showers definitely this morning, thunderstorm chances, west southwest wind at

over to you. we are following breaking news this morning. police captured one of two people who escaped from a school for juvenile offenders last night. the other escapee, though is still on the loose. the search began before 9:00 last night near the charles hickey school in parkville. canine and aerial units were called to look for the two juveniles who climbed over the fence of the facility. police have not released the identities of the juveniles, but they say the escapees are not considered dangerous. again one of them has been captured but the other is still on the loose. if you're headed through baltimore county you might want to slow down. two speed cameras installed? school school zones are up and running this morning and if you're caught you will have to pay the price. megan gill lappe gilliland is js with the latest. >> reporter: good morning, patrice. for the past 30 days speeders

have crossed the school zone with just a warning. starting today all of that changes. two of the conte's speed cameras are now ticketing. you are going to see the cameras flashing in the 7,000 block of done mon man way, near dundalk and the other on the 1200 block of cu sulfur spring road. if you are caught going 12 miles per hour or moreover the speed limit you will get a fine in the mail. the speed cameras will operate monday through friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. some argue it was just a money maker. jim johnson says it's about public safety. he was on board with the program last year when it was just an idea. >> iit reduces speed of autos. it reduces crashes. baltimore county 13 other speed camera locations are

expected be to operational in the school zones later this year. for a list of those spots just go to our website at foxbaltimore.com. megan gilliland, early edition. it was a deadly weekend on maryland waterways. two people drowned in separate incidents. this morning, crews will go to the susquehanna. they will widen the search for the phillip who was presumed dead after jumping into the water on cecil county, friends who were out with him say the current was stronger than expected and when they tried to tossing him a line, he couldn't reach it. >> two people in the boat jumped to assist. two of the people in the boat were able to make it to the individual in the water, the 3rd one disappeared. we would like to bring closure to the family and that is what e continue with the searches.

>> the boat was equipped with safety gear but no one was wearing a life jacketed. a 17-year-old died when was trying to save a plan who had fallen out of a kayak. it happened in caroline county. the teenager was fishing out of a dock near the river when his friend fell out of the kayak. the teen is throughout to have drowned while trying to reach his friend. the teen made it on back to the kayak. it happened in the area of north and fulton avenue. police say the car involved is tan or lightly colored and may have wheel or front end damage. the man was taken to the shock trauma. there's no word on how badly was was hurt. it happened around 8:30 saturday night in bel air and dun duck road in fullerton. she was taken to shock trauma

where she died. the driver who hit the woman did stay on the scene. there's no word on if any charges will be filed. president barack obama visits the gulf coast to assess the damage from the bp oil spill. the president was in southern louisiana yesterday to get a firsthand look at the spill. he calls it a massive and potentially unprecedented environmental desaster. the well in the gulf of mexico has created a 30-mile oil slick. >> i want to emphasize from day one, we have prepared and planned for the worst even as we hope for the best. bp is responsible for this leak. bp will be paying the bill. but as president of the united states, i'm going to spare no effort. >> the coast guard is hoping to drill a relief well and use it to plug the one that is spewing oil but that could take months. the massive oil spill is posing a catastrophic

much of the area toes chesapeake bay and you see a line in the hagueers town area an area of red. that is an area where we do have thunderstorms. we are looking to toward the east as we have a lot of warm, air in place. you can see over the last half hour we have picked up 21 lightning strikes moving to the north and east out of cecil county and betwee queen ann's c. more activity is being seen to the north. but we're seeing it here this morning. here is the line of showers with thunderstorms as strong as which are going to be to the southeast, georgia and, alabama, and being is being bu south cars where the haf heaviest activity. we are not talking severe

weather. that remains to the south where it's just showing you the strongest storm. let's take a look at what we have in terms of the surface feature. you see the frontal boundary approaching the warm, moist air, we have the frontal boundary. don't be surprised if you see it pop up before the front begins to push through. as it does, it takes the rain with it. by later in the afternoon, we should have some clearing. the following front comes our way friday through saturday when we get a chance to pick up thunderstorms then. a half an inch to 3 your tears o3 quarters ofan inch down thro. temperatures warm at 77 degrees. 79? washington d.c. that is not impossible for the warm moist air at the surface to see the thunderstorms pop up. usually we see them in afternoon but this time around, we see them earlier in the air because of the warm and moisture. an eastern shore,

10-20-mile-an-hour wind gusting to 30. central part of the state climbing to 82 degrees with the thunderstorm chances for later this morning and into the early afternoon before it tapers off. 79 degrees the best chance of showers to the thunderstorms will be to the west where we are seeing them around the hagerstown area. it will be mild not as warm as it has been with a west wind at 5-10. as it moves through the day today, we will see a chance of showers and thunderstorms even through the noon hour and beyond. 79 degrees by noon. we will get to the 82-degree high right around 2 to 3:00 in the afternoon and 79 degrees as we begin to see clearing tonight. still not impossible to see a shower or thunderstorm but a 30% chance of that. 83 degrees, mostly sunny for wednesday. 84, mostly sunny thursday, actually looking like a nice finish to the week. thunderstorms not showing until late friday and saturday. and 68 and sunday with mostly clear skies, even though it will be cooler it's still comfortable. fox 45 sky watch weather is

peaking out for the first time about reports of bullying at gilmor elementary. >> it's unacceptable, intolerable, and it's also extraordinarily difficult to address. >> reporter: fox 45 first reported the problems at gilmor since the start of the school year, students there have faced 47 suspensions, 18 for physical attacks, 7 involving bullying. at a school administrator's brunch today in downtown baltimore, dr. alonzo said each case is being investigated but for confidentiality reasons would not say how they're being handled. he did, however, express concern about the amount of negative attention surrounding the school which academically was the 3rd largest gainer in the district last year for k through 5 schools. >> you have a school that makes progress and my biggest concern is that in this extraordinarily swurlswirl, many children mightt hurt because the focus is away from instruction.
