week. the weather has been pretty nice for the most part. what can we expect today? meteorologist steve fertig is here with all of those answers. good morning. i hope to have more answers throughout the more than because we will see more changes throughout the day. today looking at a nice day and comfortable temperatures. it's going to be a winner, you want to get out and enjoy this one. 66 degrees the temperature in baltimore. that is rather mild, that is the downtown area, because the area toward the airport we're seeing temperatures about 8 degrees cooler than that. seeing 50s generally speaking throughout much of the area, though. cooler then, sky watch hd radar showing clearer skies and one of the reasons we have cooler conditions this morning. the front will be bringing showers by tomorrow afternoon but just a brief one if we see anything at all, more likely friday into saturday, more likely timeframe for a shower or thunderstorm.

hair salon bills that taxpayers footed for mayor sheila dixon. now there's more bills. this time thousands of dollars spent on makeup. this is a story you are seeing first on fox. megan gilliland is joining us at city hall where the new administration is just hearing about this round of bills. >> reporter: good morning, patrice, one state prosecutor says that the greed is what led the downfall for sheila dixon. fox 45 discovered the makeup bills submitted by former mayor sheila dixon. more than $11,000 worth during her three year term as mayor paid to a company at owings mills. the minimum service ran $350 per visit. this comes after those hair costs surfaced last month. all of the bills have been paid by baltimore city from the mayor's office fund.

>> when you're spending the taxpayers money, i think you should be spending it on things that the taxpayers care about. i don't think they care about how well her makeup is applied. >> there's more to worry about, the oil spill in ne new orleans than her hair and makeup. it's done. >> reporter: dixon admits having her hair and makeup done before taping segments for the office channel. the office backed her saying the bills were part of her job. what do you think? some people have been weighing in on the facebook face. jenny mill says now that we know everyone is outraged over personal expenses being paid out of the city's budget, how do we ensure that the current and future mayors don't do it yet? we have not heard responses from the current administration. keep your comments coming. your comments could be aired later this morning.

megan gilliland. fox 45 early edition. one person is taken to the hospital after a fire in baltimore. the fire fighters quickly put out the one alarm blaze. the person that was burpe burnes taken to the bay view burn center. so far no cause is found. it happened before 10:00 last night in the 400 block of eastern boulevard. police have not said whether the driver stayed at the scene. a hair salon owner is shot in the head as he opens up shop for the day. it happened yesterday morning at the blessed production hair studio in overly. police say the woman had just opened the salon when the robber walked in and shot her. he stole her money and ran. she managed to stumble into a nearby business for help. >> i look at what happened. i get to call 911.

>> all of this happened at a busy shopping center on bel air road. police are looking through video from surveillance cameras. they say they do have leads this morning but the suspect is still on the loose. the victim is expected to survive. piles of bodies found stacked in a garage forces the closure of a prince george's county funeral home. state officials suspended the license of the crematorium on monday. they found piles of 40 body bags containing human remains inside of a garage. the funeral home said it had a contract with georgetown university to dispose of the cadavers but it got too many. the funeral home has until friday to dispose of the bodies and then the funeral home will be closed. the funeral owner says he will appeal. the city school ceo sends

out a letter about bullying to hundreds of baltimore educators. the letters were distributed yesterday evening. dr. andres alonzo says that the recent spotlight on the issue presents an opportunity for the school system to do a better job at bullying. two weeks ago we shania boyd a disabled who was a victim of bullying at gilmor elementary school. the governor signs legislation that will help to fight back on gang violence in school. governor o'malley signed a bill that requires increased communication between schools and the police. the bill received support from jennifer adkins. her son was beaten and killed in baltimore county by suspected gang members. we are opening communications between law

enforcement and the information sharing that must occur between school officials in order to protect our children. he held a gang summit in anne arundel county and has received $5 million in funding to form a gang elimination tax force. more information on the man trying to blow up a car bomb in time square. shahzad who was born in pakistan became a u.s. citizen last year. he and his american wife had two children. investigators believe that he drove the suv equipped with explosives into time square. and they captured him on monday night at jfk airport moments before boarding a plane to dubai. shahzad was headed to islamabad pakistan where officials have taken 7 people who they believe are linkedded to shahzad. after taking him into custody, investigators say he confessed.

he provided valuable investigation, intelligence and evidence during that time. as the attorney general noted, he was mirandized later and continued to cooperate. >> police used the vin number on the suv to track down shahzad. the number from the dashboard had been removed but they got the hidden vin number from the bottom of the car. that led them to the car owner who said she sold the car to shahzad three weeks ago. stay tuned for continuing coverage of this story. we will talk with the director of the justice institute at community college about that bomb coming up in the next hour. there may finally be a solution to stop the oil spill in the gulf of mexico from spreading. take a look at this giant steel and concrete box. there's one, and it's expected to move the oil away. a barge is expected to haul the dome through the oil leak.

such domes have never been tried at this depth and because of the extreme water pressure. but if all goes well, the dome could be fired up next week to start funneling the oil into a tanker. stay tuned for continuing coverage of this story. we will talk with the director of the environment this maryland about the effects of the oil spill not only in the coast but in our area, too. that is coming up in the 7:00 hour. at least 29 are dead as a result of flooding in the nation's south. officials in tennessee, mississippi and kentucky fear they might find more bodies as the rivers recede. mean while for too many families life as they knew it has changed. the water is beginning to recede and what is left is devastating. >> i wanted to get the stuff out of the basement but i didn't have enough time. >> reporter: the weekend storm dumped rain.

i think he is going to be checking out the blue skies from a window plane seat. >> he has definitely been better. >> he looked nice, though, last night. >> he will look good on that 1 dwindow seat. we have dry conditions and going to look for a pretty day ahead as we check out the composite image. we zoom out and see showers out to the back and west. much of this is going to pass to the north and east. by tomorrow maybe we see a light shower to the north that we kind of were talking about yesterday where we could see one pushing through yesterday afternoon. we didn't see a whole lot, though. that will be the story tomorrow. 63 degrees at the inner harbor, right now and different, with a lot of mid-50s in the area. 56 relative humidity and the pressure is 29.96 and rising. 47 is the dew point so it's pretty dry. 63 in baltimore but 55 degrees in salisbury.

54 for wilmington, delaware. 53 for hagerstown. much the area in the mid-to upper 50s. it will be a warm afternoon, as the high pressure slides to the east ahead of the next front. here is what we're looking at. probably not until tomorrow when we see the chance of a shower but most of the activities you see here to the north as high pressure hem helps us out and generally dry tomorrow as well. the next front coming our way for friday night into saturday, still looks to be the next opportunity for some showers with maybe even thunderstorms, too. probably friday night and again with a little bit of a break overnight into early saturday before we see a saturday afternoon event with some thunderstorms possible then. 77 degrees for the eastern shore, high temperature today with a lot of sunshine, 515-mile-an-hour wind. a little bit of a reasonable of winds today. the star in part of the state we warm up to 52 degrees. further points west we look for a high temperature of 83 degrees with a lot of sun, southwest wind at 5-15, point mainly clear

on iradar. now we do need to check what is happening on the roads. here is candace dold with the traffic edge. candace. >> reporter: thank you, steve. we're indeed checking in on those numbers and so far so good. heading on the beltway, 60 miles per hour near security boulevard and 67 traveling through catonsville. we're talking about trouble in balbaltimore right now. there's fire activity that completely shuts down maryland avenue, and martin luther king boulevard, that is also blocked right at bitle. you want to use k street and maryland as the alternate routes. as far as the main lines, let's check in on 95 moving through the fort mchenry tunnel approaching the downtown region. so far no mishaps to talk about in either direction. that's the same deal heading toward the beltway and speaking of the beltway let's check it out at harford road this morning. inner and outer loop lanes, those cars are traveling at top speeds. that's a look at morning travels, patrice, back over to you. still ahead, the number show a surge in pending home sales

three baltimore city police officers are indicted for kidnapping and assaulting a west baltimore teenager. the officers are all a part of the violent crime impact division as and all three have n on the force for less than 10 years. karen parks has more on the charges against them. >> today the justice system of the baltimore city stood up. >> reporter: naacp leaders gives the city's justice system a pat on the back after three

police officers are indicted for kidnapping an a teen. 16-year-old michael johnson junior says last may detective tire on francis, smith, and gregory helen, picked him up in the 1600 block of gilmor street. threw him in the back of a police van, cursed him, assaulted him and dumped him in the rain at patapsco state park in howard county without socks, shoes or cell phone. >> taking an urban city youth who does not have a car that far against his will is akeen to taking a fish and putting him on the beach a few yards and asking him to get back in the water on his own. >> reporter: today all three officers were charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, second degree assault and misconduct in office among other charges.
