candace. >> reporter: thanks, steve. we are talking about new construction in baltimore right now. in fact, you will find that it'3 going to be on guilford avvnue, right between saratoga and lexington street. it just went into effect. it's expected to be there through december, and two laaes are going to be blocked as a result of this one. so you will now want to use saint paul as the alternate %-95 is good through baltimore. let's see how it's shaping up farther down at 95 and 195. you can see the coast is clear, southbound and northbound lanes. in fact, 95 looks good through baltimore county from hitemarsh down toward the beltway as well. four minutes, 55 miles per hour. the same speed with only an lynch-minute drive on the outer nothing to get in the way up to 795. 8 minutes at 55 miles per hour. that's a look at the morning travels. patrice, back over to you. thank you, candace. 6:02 on fox 45 morning news. a coppin state track star is dale dunn's parents hope he will

run again but it could takes months of therapy. his mother from jamaica arrived to be with him. >> for dunn's mother this was even more emotional. she was on the phone when he was suddenly attacked, robbed and shot in the chest: it's a conversation shh says shh will never forget. she heard someone approach her son on the other end and say in so many words that he was going to beat him. she yelled his name over and response. when she called him it went to voice mail. moments later dunn fought to make his way home. those friends rushed him to the hospital but his mother couldn't be thereby his side. >> when i went o the embassy to try to get the visa, theyyturned me down. >> now finally after proving that her son was in hospital, she was granted a temporary visa.

she flew in from jamaica on thursday. she tells us she is just relieved to find her only son still aaive but she is holding out hope that police will catch those three guys responsible. ss far no arrests have been madee fox 45 morning news. a person is hit in downtown baltimore by a driver trying to get away from police. it happened shortly after the3 ravens game in an area that gets pretty busy with fans before and after games. police were trying to stop a van for a routine traffic violation near pratt and high street, but instead of pulling over, the van took oof and hit a pedestrian in the process. the victim was taken to the hospital with miior injuries. >> it's painly because of the parking. that is where everybody is trying to park. you cannot park down there where they don't want to pay the parking. they come up and park and it's a lot of free spots in the block around here. that is what brings the crowd on. it's normally good. the incident today is something different or around here. >> the van was found about two blocks away.

abandoned.ú police are trying to track down the owner of the van and they're also looking into the possibility that it could have been stolen. baatimore county police make an arrest in the assault and robbery of an elderly woman over the weekend. 52 years old fill o phillip anty scott was taken into custody. he assaulted an 82-year-old woman. he ran off buttthe police were able to track him down based on a description from the victim and a witness. her injuries weren't serious. a howard county woman questions the motivation of an area hospital after the doctors pulled the plug on her mother. she was admitted to the howard county general hospital for pneumonia. after a few days, doctors wanted to remove the 90 years old from ver ventilate or. she was against it and wanted a second opinion but her options

were limited because her mother %-she fears that the decisions rushed because of money. >> it's difficult when somebody you love dies. ofttn families becooe very distraught. >> administrators ultimately decided to give the okay to remove morris from her ventilate or. a new investigation finds that drug addicts at one baltimore clinic re three times more likely deemed mentally ill than those at other state centers. that is according to the baltimore sun. it finds that baltimore behavioral health inc. accounts for 85% of taxpayer funds spent statewide. the center says that is because patients are often unemployed, homeless or worse off than most drug abuserr. we expect to get new information on the cause of the massive gulf oil spill. independent investigators will

release their findings as a 2 day hearing gets underway in washington. the spill dumped 200 million gallons of crude into the gulf of mexico. they have until january to give the final report to the president. the information will be used to prevent another desaster. the ravens wenn into the sunday's game at m and t stadium facing a miami dolphin team with an 0-4 record on the road. that came to an end as the raven easily walked away with a victory. the first drive of the game totaled with 46 yards and it ended with this effort from willis mcgahee weaving in and out 32 yards for the touch down putting the ravens up 7-0. then in the 3rd quarter, ú%ami was within 3 when flacco hit veteran derrick masonnin the end zone for the score. ravens lead. miami quarterback goes to receive brandon marshal.

you're taking a live look at the downtown at the m and t bank stadium where people are lining up to get tickets. we will check in with joel d smith to find out how that is going. >> we will check on the forecast. and they're cold out there this morning. it hould be a beautiful day cooler than average. not what you would expect for this time of year. >> 6:30 to 10 when the tickets go on sale. >> reporter: we're in theelow 40s which is not too bad. we will take a look at where we are exactly. up to new england, winter weather there. we're not going to see that. just clear skies with winnier witnesses for the -- windier conditions in the afternoon and temperatures do climb. 46 in baltimore, we're headed toward 58 for the high which is we will be windy with a northwest wind at 10-20 miles per hour gusting to 30. we do need to see that is happening on the roadways right now with candace dold.

she is here with a look at the traffic edge. candaae. >> reporter: thank you, steve. so far we have been checking in on the volume and now we're starting to sea a bit of a slow down traveling on beltway at route 40. you can see a few drivers tapping their brakes on the outer loop lanes and that is what you will find heading toward wilkins avenue. on average from 795 toward 95, we're seeing the volume increase. right now 12 minutes at 55 miles perrhour. as for 95, nothing to complain about from the fort mack henry - mcheery tunnel toward the beltway. only 55 miles per hour traveling from the harbor tunnel tooard 95. that's a look at your morning travels. patrice, over to you. candace, thank you. 6:32 on fox 45 morning news. after taking a bullet to the state, a coppin state track star is recovering from his injuries. dale dunn's mother arrived in baltimore a few days ago to be with him. megan gilliland is here with

what was going through her mind when all of this unfolded. >> reporter: for dale dunn's mother this was more emotional. she was on the phone with him when he was suddenly attacked, robbed and then shot in the chest a conversation she will never forget. she was on the other end of the line when somebody approached her son and started yelling. >> somebody come to -- i'm going to beat you up. that doesn't sound right. i said, dale, dale. >> reporter: after getting no response to that, she called back, only to get his voice mail. he started calling his friends. moments later, dunn fought his way to make his way home. his friends rushed him to the hospital. he did make it through surgery okay. her other couldn't with her son. after proving her son was in the hospital, she was granted a temporary visa and flew in from jamaica thursday. she prays that one day he will

run again. she is holding out hope that police will catch the three guys responsible. sonar to arrests have been made. megan guilmegan gilliland. fox 45 morning news. police madd the discovery on sunday morning near cove road. the death has been labeled suspicion becase there may have been signs of trauma to the body. the man's name has yet to be released. make an arrest in the robbery of an elderly woman over the woman over the weekend. officer say he assaultee an 80 years old woman earlier that morning after she dropped her wallet while walking along harford road in parkville. he eventually ran off but pollce were able to track him down based on a description from the victim and a witness. the womaa's injuries wwren't serious. a ferocious storm spinning in the atlantic is being blamed

county. winds for the time being out of the west, northwest at 10-15 miles hour, but again expected to pick up as the low pressure center is to the north and high pressure builds in to get a pressure gradient. the winds get stronger and it will the sunshine will shine brightly but it won't warm us up because wind will be chillier. the eastern shore a 15-25-mile hour wind gusting to 35. about the same just a few mile per hour wwnds less, 58 for the high and mostly sunny skies. it will still be windy throughout the state. -ack to the west looking at high temperature, cooler at 58 and about the same, 58 degrees with the wind less at 15-25 miles per hour. ttnight 40 degrees for the overnighh low. a windy night with 15-25-mile-an-hour wind, though, clear skies and tomorrow a few more clouds mixed in would the northeasterly flow. we stay near 60 degrees for wednesday, for thursday, which is veterans day and 60 deggees on friday. 58 and 59 with more clouds

how long you would live just by testing your physical prow less. dr. mollica marshal determining how it is possible. >> a firm handshake could indicate a long life. that is according to a new journal testing that the personal physical abilities can predict a person's age of death. they examined the physical abilities of participants, mostly elderly and recorded when they died. they were tested on grip strength, walking speed, and rising fromma chair. overall those who tested worst this a consistently higher risk of death. in 14 studies the death was 6 or 7 times higher with the people would the weakest grip than those with the strongest grip. this included younger peoppe as well. in other studies the rate was 6.8 times igher for a brisk walker. more evidence of how fit you are, may indicate how long you're going to live.
