cuts. megan from the union where that vote is expected to be taken. >> reporter: good morning, patrice. today the police union and the city a greemed could be reached. inside of this contract, it would give police officers five more days off a year in exchange for a 5.5% pay cut, pretty much the equivalent of a furlough. it comes after months and months of negotiations over scrutiny of police schedules and time hours. %-charging overtime.skiing and they are working on cases to increase the clearance rate ss we can have a saver city. >> while the mayor defended that practice innjune, she said that if overtime is not cut a bit, more furloughs may be necessary. that is what is happening in inside of in new contract. the voting begins at the union lodge and it will go until

7:00 tonight. megan gilliland. fox 45 early edition. two men are dead after a fire at an auto body shop in anne arundel county. flames broke out around 9:30 on wednesday morning. it took 60 firefighters an hour %-once they did, they learned tt two men were missing. search dogs eventually ffund the bodies inside of what was left of the building. >> that is scary that they're trying to figure out what happened. %-living there.ing in there, it's hard to say. >> the two mmn have yet to e identified, but investiggtors believe they worked in the garage. there's no word on what caused the fire. a baltimore city school purchases new computers only to have the magority of them purchased by thieves. christian academy in baltimore gets one grant a year. and this year administrators used the money to buy 18

computers. on monday morning everyone showed up to find that 17 of them were gone. police believe the burglars broke into a classroom window sometime friday night into saturday morning. >> we had just gotten them set up and running to use, the them for two weeks. >> the thieves also got away with school supplies and musical equipment. a state prison inmate is convicted of first-degree murder in the death of his cell mate. the jury found christopher white guilty of killings clearance myers junior in 5 hours. they say that he strangled his cell mate. myers died after setting two life sentences for setting a fire that killed his girlfriend's two young daughters. sentencing is still set to be

schedule. a student who killed a classmate will spend the next five years in jail. tyron plead guilty ffr killing the bas basketball player. he fired at two men after they gottinto an argument over a girl. the soft drink, loco will be hard to find. we have been telllng you about the drink and all of the risks associated with it. last month, 5 students end up in the hospital after taking it. stores have just a week to remove them from shelves. michigan has also banned the drinks. a demolition in ohio doesn't go quite as planned and leaves crews running or cover. men started scrambling after the tower started falling the wrong way. no one was hurt but the smoke

stack did manage to take down power lines and generating builds. 4,000 people lost electricity. the state is demanding answers following a speed camera incident that was reported to you on first on fox. take a look at these pictures that a driver took an i phone over the weekend. they show a speed camera vehicle going more than 80 miles an hour on i-70. now the state highway administrator is demanding disciplinary action from the contractor who employs the program. >> the contractor is totally cooperating in terms of the investigation to establish who the violator was. this clearly was unacceptable somebody driving that fast is creating a safety issue not just for themselves but for other drivers. >> the state officials are also demanding that he company reexamine its training procedure. since the start of the program, more than 158,000 drivers have been cited, that amounts to $6.3 million in

fines. officials say the cameras reduce speeding by about 45%. charges have been filed against the man responsible for the controversial robo calls on election night. maryland attorney general doug gensler, filed the complaints against the two women. they were responsible for more than 100,000robo calls telling officials that o'malley had won and all they had to do was stay home and watch the results on t.v. the calls are a violation of the protection act, because thee failed to identify the source or the call back number. the complaint doesn'ttallege wrongdoing, but it's a civil complaint asking for a $500 fine for each violation, that totals

$160,000. a police officer accompanied the mayor to provide secure city. the city's spending panel approved aamost $900 for his expenses during the july trip. >>the sergeant knew where we were taying. if something happened here, and he had to get to me to get me back to baltimore, he knew where he were ssaying, but he wasn't there to cart me around. >> mayor says traveling with security is a city policy. the news is in surrounding the state of maryland's economy and ii's not good. maryland's budget deficit now stands at $1.6 billion from education, to medicaad, mandated programs were heavily funded by federal stimulus dollars. >> 800-some million dollars of additional federal mmney being used to support that proggam take that out and we have to from the general fund.

is receiving a hero ease welcome mad's welcomemade just for him. joel d smith is showing us how this amputee is moving into a home as special as he is. >> reporter: good morning, patrice. this is called homes for our troops. this is a free home going to him because of how special he is and the special needs he has. i have jim from the construction. you guys got invooved with this. tell us about the guy who is going to be living here. >> the soldier's name is parris butler, is' double amputee. the home was built with special features to get around on a daily basis. >> reporter: there's a lot of challenges, and he was looking for a home for a while. what is here in the kitchen that wouldn't be in a normaa home? >> what you see underneath the stove, you have a recess panel where he can access via

welcome back. it's 5:16 now on this thursday morning. sky watch hd radar. it looks good. another clear day expected here thanks to high pressure building in. the north wind at 3 miles per hour. 52% relative humidity and 32 is the dew point. there's room for the temperatures to drop a little bit. aboot 49 degrees in the downtown areas of baltimore ann d.c.

salisbury 39, and hagerstown 38 degrees with a more northerly east wind today. just keep hanging out to sea, but it's not coming closer. the high pressure is building over us and that is what is going to bring us a nice day today. the low pressure is going to come our way. this is probably going to lose strength in terms of the moisture that is with it, tooo it will be lessening. it passes through by maybe sunday night, but we don't get a whole lot out of it. the next frontal boundary that ú%ves through with the low pressure center comes our way by tuesday into wednesday and that's the next chanceeof rain. chillier air for next week behind the next front. don't get use to the upper 50s and low 60s for the next couple of days we will see more 60s possible before the cooler air moves back in. 67 degrees is what we're expeeting for the eastern shore for a high temperature today. for the central part of the state, you should enjoy a
