10:07 pm
swirling winds. called bookend vortex. and looking at the national weather service. confirming ef1 tornado that touched down. mmximum wind speed was 80 to 100 miles per hour. and tten also mixed in with ttat, straighttliie winds that occurred also. and that as some of the damage that was in the area. now let's talk about those situations together. here is the area up there by the apartment complex. northern parkway. pairrin parkway. line of showers and thunderstooms that rolled through, at that hour, were going about 70 miles per hour. from above, we had a down burst of an inflow behind it that creates a bow he can coaxxyou can see the bow here of the3 storm. as it moves northeast at 70 miles per hour. what happens is that kind of splits that line of thundeestorms,,and on the ends of that reformation of that line, yyu get rotation,,that occurs. and n those ends, which are called bookend vortex, you get the rotation that could be briefly considered a tornado.
10:08 pm
it could create a quick tornado that drops down, creates damage. and then you conttnue the straight line inds pushing through. so this is why we saw ddmage in tte form of potentiallyytornadic activity determined. and then also we saw damage that was also considered poteetially straight line wind damage. so all across this area seeing the rotation of the potential tornado, that they saw touchdown, whichhit was a tornado. ef1 strength. and potential for straight line winds. a lot of damage. an interesting late season severe weather event. it looks like we have better weather coming our way. show you that in the forecast coming up. >> all right, vytas, thank you. >> and, of coursee you can be i3 charge of your own personalized forecast. i-radar is available at foxbaltimore.com. just use the interactive tools to track storms down to your neighborhood. go to foxbaltimore.com and click on i-radar. >> baltimore city police breaku@ what may have been a dog fighting ring. police were called to this part of north mason street 9:30 last night. inside of the homes. -olice found seven pitbulls.
