here in federal hill the grande prix remains a sore subject for many. business owners say they lost thousands when customers abandoned them overlay bartow weekend. beth owns a store. she said she needs a strong holiday season because she is still not making up for the grande prix losses. >> labor day weekend was devastating to loose a three day holiday weekend which is normally one of the best holiday weekends. zero. >> reporter: the company that ran the grande prix donated money to community groups including 10 you this dollars to a federal hill neighborhood association. when the financial troubles surfaced the association's newly elected president said several board members took steps aimed to give that money back. they also questioned the legitimacy of the new president at a packed meeting tonight some of the people here strongly supported those board members. >> [inaudible] your houses with the --

[inaudible] like bob, who are all a lot of [bleep]. >> reporter: the vast majority didn't. >> this neighborhood isn't about divisioniveness. >> reporter: and they voted to keep the president in place and to oust the three board members who they say tried to give the money back. >> the membership spoke, their wishes were respected and now the neighborhood association can move forward. >> reporter: it the question is what will they do with the $10,000? first they need to get new board members and then the decision will be made as to what to do with the grant. live in federal hill. >> thank you. update now to a story we brought you last night on the news at 11. police say the shooting yesterday at townsend town center mall was not a random

attack. 19-year-old rodney pritchett was shot and killed. police aren't saying a lot of details just that they have several leads they hope will lead to an arrest. baltimore county malls continue to be a safe place to shop police say. >> this was not a robbery. we have hard working detectives and field people running out many leads at this point in time. our shoppers are safe in baltimore county. we want our people, our citizens to come out, feel safe with their family and their children. again we are optimistic that we will clear this case. >> reporter: police say security is always stepped up at area malls during the holidays and this year is no different. they say more officers are out patrolling the roads this time of year. county police have identified the man one of the officers shot yesterday. christopher cane is charged with attempted first degree

murder. police found him with a gun at a home they were called to for reports of armed robbery. one of the officers who responded said he pointed the gun at him, that officer fired back. detectives don't believe the robbery was random. the murder trial of a university student will start at the end of april. the times news report that the 23-year-old was in court today. she is a accused of stabbing 19- year-old courtney mccoy last month outside a party. a judge set the trial date for april 30th and ordered her held on $350,000 bond. she said that someone else killed mccoy. if convicted she could get life. mccoy was from baltimore. >> in weather, today it's a cloudy situation. today and this evening. the chance for rain has stayed slim today and tonight and most

washington some unemployment benefit also expire and 160 million will see a bit less of their paycheck in january. a new study shows a surprising number of police officers are actually having trouble sleeping. that's according to a new study. researchers creeped 5,000 police officers for sleep problems and found 40% of them have some type of a sleep disorder. the most common affected one out of three police officers. the study's author said they put officers at a much greater risk of making mistakes and having health problems. >> at least one sleep disorder were at high risk of having depression, anxiety disorders, diabetes, heart disease and a number of other adverse health

side, maybe low 60s tomorrow as you go further south. satellite radar views again, very limited precipitation, the clouds have been holding tough. been a great situation the last few days, we will look for a similar pattern tomorrow. warm air out of the south keeping temperatures mild. the chance for showers more tomorrow and you see the widely dispersed areas of rain to the west. all part of the main storm system crossing the country. the first of three, three surges of rain, one tomorrow, the next one thursday night into friday and then another for christmas eve saturday night. as you see that mild air that will hang out until christmas eve i think. check out tomorrow. you have travel plans, looks like the rain will start to come down after lunchtime. widespread rain. breezy conditions across the east coast through tomorrow evening. then thursday a dry quiet day but next system pushing up as we go into friday morning.
