who's responsible. how is the boy doing? >> reporter: he was checked out at the doctor. tonight his parents are concerned. 3-year-old evan miller is fascinated with train that circles of christmas tree. his parents are happy he's able to show us. a week ago, cheryl miller was walking back from the bus stop when she heard her son cry like never before. >> i heard a pop and he screamed. i ran back to him and he had a little round circle. >> reporter: it happened tonight where one runner felt safe being out in the dark. that morning miller went back to the house to clean him up and drove back down to do her own investigating. she wept back home and called

911. since then the harford county sheriff's office has been investigating. they're not certain if it was an accident. if so, there's a safety message. >> make sure you treat all guns as if they are loaded. >> reporter: evan's dad hopes investigators takes the incident seriously even though his son is doing okay. >> somebody deliberately doing this to a 3-year-old. >> reporter: for a few days, evan did have fear of walking on the sidewalk near his home. his parents is thankful he's resilient. >> it could have been his life. somebody could have hit him in the eye or the face. >> reporter: that bb pellet that mom's found was turned over tot sheriff's office. there hasn't been enough information top no other incidents have been reported

since last week. abc 2 news. a woman who police say was beaten by grandson 8 months ago has died. back in march, police say shirley gibbs 14-year-old beat her with a hammer. the boy was originally charged as an adult with attempted murder. police and a judge has deny -- the charges against a baltimore man accused of planning to bomb a military recruiting center antonio martinez pleaded not guilty. police in howard county are looking for a person who stole a package from someone else's porch. it happened just last friday at 8200 block of western drive in

ellicott city. you see the woman drives up to the house, gets out of her car and walks back with a package in her arms. police think this thief may have taken other packages in other houses. man the rain came in heavy and steady. once we get pass sun set there, it pushed out south. you can see some of the heaviest and steadiest rains now to the west of baltimore. howard county back up through carroll and extending northern. baltimore county we had a brief stroke of lightning there. just north of denton. right now temperatures running around 50. it's been a mild day in the 60s. visibility kind of low out there too with rain and midst and fog. overnight we'll is still see rain heavy at time. there are some big changes ahead starting tomorrow right into the weekend. we profile those in a few

they mentioned the hand me down play pin was given to them. >> his knee got trapped and he suffocated and died. >> reporter: each year millions of children products are recalled. a new federal law now requires companies that make durable infant and toddler products, like these with every crib, play yard and stroller, they sell, parents should have contact information and go online to register. >> the best way that a consumer can find out about a recall is if they are notified directly. >> reporter: a new survey found that 61% of adults with children under 12 did not know this exist. >> it could mean that parent never finds out about a recall, about a recall of product that could cause a devastating injury or even death. >> reporter: the new notification law is named after

danny kaiser. he died in a day care center portable crib that was recalled 5 years before he was born in the child care center never knew about the recall. danny's mom pushed for the change. it wants parents to know companies cannot use their contact info for marketing. it's only to notify them of recall. >> the law puts this product registration program in place. makes it illegal for companies to use that information for any other purpose. >> reporter: the federation wound found when parents knew about the law, 85% say they will register in the future. they hopes all parent will register. >> that's so important that parents should do that. i can't say enough that i wish that we had this when ethan was around. this play pin would have been pulled from the marks.
