maryland state police barracks. stop here or the barracks.. and they take your fingerprints..which kicks off the background check needed for a permit. permit. and tonight.. one key element in that background check has been changed.. and supporters call it a good move. a federal judge ruled a portion of the state gun permit law unconstitutional. under the law, residents wre required to provide what's called a "good and substantial reason" to carry a handgun. the judge made the ruling in march.. ordered a stay during an appeal..... ........but tonight, that stay has been lifted and the law goes into effect in two weeks. they would rather see stricter laws pertaining to illegal guns.............rather than a less restrictive law for those wanting to legally carry a gun. live in pikesville, keith daniels, fox 45 news 3 police are still trying to solve a triple murder that happened nearly a year ago in northeast baltimore... baltimore... july 26th police were called to this house along nicholas avenue at 4:30 in the morning for a report of gunshots.... investigators say.....when they arrived the home appeared secured....so they left...an hour and a half later.....the home went up in flames.....that's when three bodies were found inside.....the homeowner.....his 36 year old daughter and her boyfriend.....the daughter was still alive.....but died later at a nearby hospital..... one year later.....no suspects....no motive.. motive.. 3 (52:22)i lost a father....she lost a son...i lost a sister we lost a lot of love ones its very sad and sickening... sickening...if you have any

information about this case.....you are asked to call baltimore city police. a man who police say sexually assaulted a woman two months ago is now under arrest. arrest.police found ricky bostic along towsontown boulevard last thursday.they say he forced his way into an apartment on versailles circle, which just so happens to be a neighboring apartment building. cpl. kathleen batton, baltimore co. police: 11.43.58 "it's extremely important to get someone like this off the streets. we have three separate crimes. people were home at the time he committed these offenses." offenses."bostic lived in a first floor apartment he's now at baltimore county detention center. a man is behind bars tonight accused in a deadly stabbing in baltimore county. 3 mark brown jr. is charged with first-degree murder after police say he stabbed his acquaintance phillip weatherford.the victim was found inside his car about 2-30 monday morning near pulaski highway and ebenezer road in white marsh. they were traveling southbound on pulaski highway in the victims vehicle when an argument occured, durnig that argument the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times.

a 'killer'.....he was labeled a genius...and the government showered him with cash. in fact, the doctoral student was bankrolling 26-thousand dollars a year in government gr. grants. where did the money come from for james holmes to purchase a small arsenal? in the months leading up to the massacare -- police say holmes' stockpiled six-thousand rounds of ammunition, an ar-15 assault rifle, a remington 870 shotgun, a 40 caliber glock handgun, a knife, and protective clothing. not too mention the bombs there's no record of holmes workkng since he dropped out of a prestigious neuroscience program at the university of colorado at denver in june. academically brilliant, holmes was only one of six predoctoral students to receive a 21-thousand 600 dollar a year grant. his only known source of income. money for those "t-32 grants" comes from the national institutes of health. some people now suggest that the n- i-h was the unwitting underwriter of holmes' weapons of death, but we do not know

if that is how holmes' spent the money. a spokesperson for the n-i-h told us it's the university who decides who gets a t-32. [take graphic "nih grant"] but it's the n-i-h that sets qualifiying criteria which includes: enrollment in a highly competitive graduate program, aptitude, talent and performance are thoroughly measured along with the potential for earning a ph.d and one must either be a u.s. citizen or permanent resident. those grants can be awarded for up to five years. the n-i-h would not comment specifically on where the money comes from or the connection some are trying to make -- but added we are all "deeply saddened about the tragedy in colorado." the value of the guns, ammunition and bomb-making supplies is estimated at six to ten-thousand dollars. jeff abell, fox 45 news...late edition. a suspect... who attempted to copycat colorado's mass shooting... is arrested in main. maine. police caught 49-year-old timothy courtois ... after pulling him over for speeding. in his car ...they found weapons and ammunition. the suspect

"i don't know. he might've been asking to get caught, it might've been his cry out for help. he also, i think he might have been, clearly he had some kind of infatuation with law enforcement." courtois is charged with having a concealed weapon. a close call for a woman who fell onto a subway track this m. morning.it happened about 11-30 today at the state center metro station downtown. it's still unclear why the woman fell, but police say she survived by crawling into a space under the platform. she was hit by the subway as it passed, but not run over. transit authorities say the train was going about 30 miles per hour. turning trash - into cash. a multimillion dollar project in anne arundel county is created electricity at the local landfi. landfill.as trash decomposes... it creates methane gas. until now - that gas was contained and burned off. but now - thanks to a grant from the department of energy... the gas will be converted into electricity.... by using special generators.

a grandmother and her boyfriend are under arrest after allegedly allowing her grandson to ingest crack cocain.
