( exhaling ) ( exhaling ) cusack: indeed, the day was warming up nicely. whoa! ( groans ) ( giggling ) cusack: but peep and chirp were having too much fun to worry about it. ( laughing ) ( giggling ) ( giggling ) ( giggles ) come on, chirp, let's see how fast we can go without falling. ( laughing ) whee! ( giggling ) ( sighs exhaustedly ) chirp: just a short rest. we want to get to green island, right? right. you know, my feet are still cold, but my head is hot.

well, your feet are on the ice and your head isn't. you're right. i hadn't thought of that. ( water plopping ) cusack: the day grew warmer. puddles began appearing everywhere, which meant that the ice on big bay was melting... fast! ( giggling ) ( gasps ) ( rumbling ) what was that? ( rumbling, ice cracking ) whoa! whoa! ( rumbling, cracking ) whoa! whoa! ( gasps ) ( gasps ) chirp, you're moving away. no, you're moving away. come back! i can't.

watch out! here i come! oh, water! yuck! yuck! cold! yuck! oh, water! ( grunting ) ( breathing heavily ) i hate getting wet. chirp, you know what? we're floating. you're right. this could be our boat to green island. ( ice cracks ) ( chirp gasps ) only our boat is getting smaller. we need to look for something else that floats. hmm... hmm... ( ice cracking ) hmm? hmm? ( ice cracks, then chirp gasps ) something that's not ice. yes, a bigger, not-ice floating thing that won't melt or break or... whoa! whoa! oh, water! yuck! yuck! cold! oh, water! cold! yuck!

( peep panting ) ( chuckles ) ( peep panting ) peep, look! it's green island! ( giggling ) ( giggling ) peep: ahoy, green island. it's me-- peep. we made it. we made it. we made it! hmm... you know, green island looks just like home. i know. i thought it would be more... quack: ♪ this duck was made for swimming ♪ ♪ so that's just what i'll do ♪ i'll swim and swim and sometimes eat ♪ ♪ and dum-deedle- dum-deedle-doo! ♪ thank you. the crowd's going crazy. ( humming ) quack! what are you doing here?

i was just about to ask you that. you were going to green island. but we did. we're on green island. ( laughing ) no, you're not. you're home. that's green island. how did that happen? we must have gotten twisted around out there. i can't believe it. we walked all the way to green island and we didn't even get there. well, i hope you two have learned a valuable lesson. we know. don't go out on the ice, even if it looks solid. because ice can fool you. that's right, and also, green island is for ducks. see you. ( quack humming ) chirp, when you learn to fly, will you take me to green island? ( giggles ) i will, peep. we'll get there. don't you worry.

quack: ♪ green island, green island ♪ i'm going to green island ♪ swimming and smiling and rhyming ♪ ♪ on my way to green island ♪ yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, swinging it, okay! ♪ ( giggling ) ( giggling ) girl: that's jonah and me, and we are drinking some apple juice with ice in it. it was really hot, so i put some ice on the hot, hot table to see what would happen. then jonah puts his bigger piece of ice on the table. we're going to see which one melts the fastest. okay, now i think this one's going to. it's melting really fast. i think hers is going to melt the quickest. mine is gone. now it's just water. i think mine melted the fastest because it was smaller. girl: that's my mom.

she's putting water in different kinds of containers, and she's putting them in the freezer to make different shapes of ice. the ice comes out in lots of shapes. we're going to make an ice castle. whoops! girl: ice is fun to build with, but it feels really cold. now we can make steps. now put that on top. girl: the ice is sticking together somehow. done. it's going to melt into a big puddle. girl: try playing with different shapes of ice to see how it melts. cusack: one day, after climbing onto a clothesline and almost falling off... whoa! ( shouting )

whew! cusack: chirp told peep she had a surprise for him. watch this! ( laughs ) ( giggling ) let me try! whoo-hoo! whoa! uh-oh. ( both shouting ) both: help! chirp, do you know how to... stop? no! both: whoa! ( both shouting ) ( groans ) ( groans ) ( jingles ) hmm? what is this? ( jingles ) do that again. ( jingling ) ( giggling )

hey, where are you going? ( jingling ) come back! ( scatting ) ( quacks ) huh? ( jingles ) oh! a... a present? a present! for me?! oh, thanks, guys. i've always wanted a duck belt. hmm. ( grunting ) ( gasps ) ( grunts ) can't... breathe! must... get it... ( gasps ) off! ( both gasp ) ( quack gasps ) ( peep and chirp grunting ) ( gasps ) ( all grunt ) i don't think it's a duck belt, quack. what else could it be? it's for making circles.

look! ( jingles ) ooh! or maybe it's for flipping. ( jingles ) i've got it! it's a place for ducks to stand in the middle of and be admired. nice! very, very nice. i like. ( laughing ) quack: stop that! let... let go. let go! ( jingling ) look at me! ( laughs ) look what i can do. ( giggling ) oh, sure. after i showed you how. ( jingling ) how do i stop?! whoa! ( grunts ) thanks, tree. chirp! hey!

what you got? look at that! just what i... always wanted. hey! quack: bring that back! peep and quack: that's our toy! it's not a toy. it's a bird perch. all hung up. ready for birds. bird perch? that's a spinning hoop! and a flipper and a roller! and my standing spot! ( laughing ) oh no, no, no, no, no. this is a perch. you know, a high resting place for birds-- birds who fly. are you sure it's a perch? yeah! come and try it! you'll love it! oh, plenty of room, even for you, quack. i wish we could get up there. ( sighs ) well, i guess they can have it, if it's really a perch... ( sighs ) oh, well. let's find something else to play with.

cusack: peep, chirp and quack tried to find a replacement for their flipping, spinning, rolling thing... but nothing else really worked. oh, i don't know. i'm not sure you can admire me properly on this thing. i really just don't... whoa! ( grunts ) ( sighs ) that sure was fun, that jingly thing. yep, those were the days, my friend. ( blue jays squawking ) hmm? ( gasps ) hi, peep! hi, chirp! hi, quack! look out! you're.... you're playing with it? oh, yeah! it's great! the best! go deep! ( jingling ) not that deep! but you said it was a perch.

uh-huh. sure. but it's so much else! hey, hey, hey, look at this! oh, it's the best toy ever! it was our toy first. ( growls ) peep, quack... let's make a plan. this is no time to be making things, chirp! we need to rescue my duck stand. cusack: chirp explained what a plan is. uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh. ah! ( blue jays laughing ) cusack: and then they made one-- a plan to get their toy back. ( chirp and quack talking quietly ) cusack: but would it work? already, things were not going as planned. blue jays: pyramid! pyramid! whoo-hoo! ( chirp grunts ) what... are you doing?! yeah! can't you see we're trying to talk about you?

whoops. you are? ooh! what were you saying? tell us! we can keep a secret. yeah, we're great at secrets. ( chuckles ) we wanted to teach you our favorite game... "roll it." blue jays: roll it. yeah, see, you take the jingly thing and you roll it wherever we tell you t. ( both giggling ) okay? let's try it. ( clears throat ) roll it to the tree. ( both laughing ) ( both giggling ) ( jingling ) cusack: listening to directions and rolling a bracelet was a big challenge for the blue jays. ( sighs ) cusack: but eventually they figured it out. okay, now... roll it into the pond. okay. we got it. there we go. perfect.

blue jays: oops. oh, look, it's gone! it's gone, all right. gone, gone, gone, very gone. oh, well. got to run. see you! it worked! whoo-hoo! we got it back! we got it back! yeah! ( laughs ) sort of. cusack: so, quack went underwater to rescue the... thing, but first he had to get it back from the fish. quack: no, see, it's not a fish gate. it's a, um... something else. something for ducks. and since i'm a duck and you're not, well, i need it back. okay, quack. i guess ducks know best. ( both exclaiming ) hooray! you got it! cusack: they still didn't know what their toy was...

( giggling ) cusack: but you know what? i don't think it really matters anymore. ( laughing ) look at that! it's a swing. ( yells ) could you move a little bit? yes, that's good. okay, that's right. oh, over to the side. if you just scoonch that way a little bit, and then, oh, hmm... quack! there we go! that's it! perfect. ( laughing ) girl: that's me and that's kiana. we're looking for things to make things. we're recycling. i found this. ( giggles ) girl: and this is, like, a pie container. this place is our workshop. i'll make a hat. girl: kiana is using a rubber band

to attach her hat. i like the hat, kiana. thanks. it's floppy. ( both laughing ) girl: this is one of my beads. the cap. ( rattling ) girl: it's a musical necklace. see how it makes noise? this is just made out of junk. i didn't really need scissors or tape or anything really expensive. now it's a drum. ( slapping simple rhythm ) ( scraping ) girl: we are making some nice musical instruments. ( clicking ) ( beads dropping ) ( clattering ) i like the sound of that, kiana. girl: try finding things that are being thrown away, then turn them into something completely different.
