tomorrow is expected to mark the beginning of what may be the most important phase so far of president obama's health care overhaul. tonight jim angle shows us that not many people are expecting a smooth start. with president obama's signature legislation on health care about to begin, there are still numerous questions about how and whether it will work. lauer says: "obamacare succeeds and fails based on enrollment. period." most important is whether young people sign up, without whom obamacare will face enormous problems. holtz-eakin says: "the key are the young and healthy who dont have big medical bills but whose premiums will be used to cover the cost of the older and sicker mendelson says: "younger people are subsidizing older people in this law because health care costs for older people run more then seven times more than the costs for younger people. " the key question then is how many young people will sign up?
12:44 am
one researcher found the financial incentives may discourage many young people from enrolling: hogberg says:" a lot of them in that age group 18-34 would actually save at least 500 dollars by forgoing the insurance on the exchange and simply paying the penalty under the individual mandate. " about 3.7 million young people would save that much, he found-- 3 million of whom would save about a thousand dollars. with the fine for not having insurance only 95 dollars the first year, and ... many young people spending far less on medical care now than obamacare would cost them, analysts fear the young will pass it up. hogberg says:" i think it's just one more thing that's going to discourage young and healthy people from signing up" another potential problem-- both state and federal exchanges have been having problems verifying incomes and who qualifies for subsidies... which would delay signing up. holtz-eakin says: "the glitches we've seen so far include things like a calculator that people are supopsed to be able to use to figure out what their premiums would be for different policies it doesnt work. " after hyping october first

and the day a grand new insurance plan would begin, over thththththththththththth weekd, adnimistration pling do twnhe rollout they once touted: holtz-eakin says: now they are faced with a potential for a poor launch of their signature domestic program they are trying to set these expectations as low as possible " and any administration failures could discourage the young, the most web-savvy generation ever: hogberg says: "october first is going to be important whether they think it is or not if these websites are not really functional on october first, that's another thing that is likely to drive young and healthy people away " and those on all sides agree on one thing-- if the young don't sign up, obamacare will be far, far more expensive-- if it works at all. in washington imngleox news it's thrsthe catholic church's histor ... but pepepepe nounced thatasas p john paulhe second and john the 23-rd will be declared saints next year. the historic double canonization will happen on

april 27-th. candidates for sainthood usually have two miracles attributed to them .... but pope francis approved the canonization of john the 23-rd with only one. analysts say the decision to canonize both together is a highly unusual move ... that was aimed to promote unity within the church. "he was making his mark and making a statement and saying look "i don't want to wait, i'm the pope who is going to defy me on this? and there was a shortage of hands going up." it's been nearly 60 years since a pope has been canonized. pope francis will officiate. pope benedict who retired earlier this year is expected to attend. we want to say thank you to the webelos from pack 124 in parkville. they visited out studios tonight to learn how we put together our newscasts... and vytas gave them a lesson on preparing a forecast.
