of 66 clancy published 28 books .... several were made into hollywood blockbusters including the hunt for red october ... patriot games and the sum of all fears.. 17 of his novels appeared on the new york best sellers list... the baltimore native graduated from loyola blakefield in 1965 and loyola college in 1969. clancy is also part owner of the baltimore orioles. he died last night at johns hopkins hospital. the cause of death has not been released. the year-long renovation of harford county's maryland house is ending up costing a lot more than initially planned. the baltimore sun reports that cleaning up gasoline contaminated soil at the 50 year old facility will cost the state two- point-six million dollars-- far more than 800 thousand that was budgeted for the project. the company leasing the property will pay for the removal, and have those costs deducted from their rent payments to the state. the rest stop is slated to reopen this winter. engine 14... turns... 125

church bus careens out of control, and crashes into several vehicles on a tennessee interstate. the crash happened just after two this afternoon on interstate 40 near knoxville. police say the bus' tire blew out and sent it across the median and into the path of an suv and a tractor trailer. in addition to the eight deaths, 12 others were injured...eight of whom are in critical condition. a los angeles jury has cleared the concert promoters "a-e-g live" of any blame in connection with the death of pop legend michael jackson. after a week of deliberations, the jury rejected the jackson family's claims that the promoters were

negligent when they hired doctor conrad murray to be jackson's personal physician. the family blamed murray's decisions for jackson's 2009 death. murray was lateconvicted of involuntary manslaughter, and is serving a four year prison sentence. authorities in canada released their final report on the death of glee star cory monteith. the coroners report finds the 31-year-old died from a mix of intravenous heroin use combined with alcohol. monteith was found dead in a vancouver hotel room in british columbia, canada on july 13th. he had a history of substance abuse. today's report ruled his death an accident. ad lib toss to vytas

pickups and s-u- v's because of a possible problem with their warning lights. 132 thousand 2014 jeep grand cherokees and 11 thousand ram pickups apparently have software problems that could cause the warning lights to lig up randomly. those affected will be notified by mail, and can come in for a free software upgrade. meanwhile, b-m-w is recalling about 76 thousand of its cars in the u-s, because of a problem with the braking system. the recall covers several 2012 to 2014 model years. apparently, a glitch with the

power brake pump could lead to issues with the power brake assist. affected owners will be contacted through the mail. a san diego judge seems to lack empathy, if not common sense, after presiding over the wedding of the convicted killer she had just sentenced. not only did judge patricia cookson marry convicted murderer danne desbrow to his fiance, she even brought the couple a cake before sending him off to prison. desbrow was convicted of first degree murder for the 203 killing of kevin santos. santos' family say they are stunned beyond words. the judge says she agreed to the ceremony, hoping that it would make desbrow a more cooperative prisoner. and... common sense .... should... tell you ... that.../ if... you work... as a 911 dispatcher.../ it's... probably... not a good idea... to... giggle... at the callers.../. that lesson... was... lost on a woman... working... the 911 line... in... pima county arizona../.
