the meeting ended without a resolution. and afterwards, the finger pointing continued. rep. john boehner / (r-oh) speaker of the house "we sent four different proposals over to our democrat colleagues in the senate, they rejected all of them." nancy pelosi / house minority leader: "i can only conclude that they wanted to shut down government, that they think that that has a purpose for them." republicans and democrats alike say the shutdown could last for two weeks or more. and one financial analyst says the failure of both sides coming to terms will likely leave a negative impact on the u-s economy. joe minarik / former chief economist of office of management and budget of us government: "probably, you will see a falling stock market. you may see rising interest rates, falling bond prices. the value of the dollar may go down. and this is not a good time in the us economy, which is struggling to regain growth after the financial crisis." (anchor tag) and while much of the government is shutdown, the republican- controlled house approved legislation to reopen the nation's parks and the national institutes of health. democrats criticized the move, saying it is a piecemeal approach
