first in the south republican primary on saturday. polls open at 7:00 a.m. in the morning and they close at 7:00 on saturday night. continuing coverage on a story we first brought you here on "primetime" last night. charlotte-mecklenburg police say thieves are targeting women who are distracted to steal from their purses. authorities say one person will distract the victim while another takes debit cards or credit cards from her purse. they are used to buy gift cards that are later sold on-line. we spoke with a woman whose wallet was stolen at concord mills. she believes someone took the wallet out of her purse that was in her cart. when she turned her back to answer another shopper's question about a toy. >> suddenly this man came up behind me and he said, "scaws me ma'am" and i didn't turn

then he said it again. and this time i turned completely around. >> maureen: the woman says she explained what the baby toy was for and it took her some time to realize that her wallet was then gone. police are not sharing the specifics about suspects in this case, but they are concerned about people falling victim to this crime and are asking you to be alert. there you can read more about what officers are seeing when it comes to this - victim. >> maureen: a south carolina man charged for a shooting of an alleged teenage burglary suspect. the 49-year-old is charged with value run terry manslaughter -- voluntary manslaughter after they say he shot and killed brandon spencer. spencer was trying to break into his truck. authorities say he fired as

new on "primetime" we are hearing from his supporters. >> it is ridiculous. everybody was saying he is a good i had c. sure he might have been a good kid, but a good father and a good kid would have been at home in bed at 3:00 in the morning and not in somebody else's yard taking their belongings. >> he started it, but the response was inappropriate i think. he made a bad split-second decision. >> maureen: as you heard he will stay behind bars. prosecutors were not within his rights to shoot someone who wasn't actively a threat at the time. we'll follow that case for you. >> maureen: two horses, a laboratory and its six puppy killed on oakdale road. it broke out about 6:45 this morning. the fire investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire.

down the road again. >> we have a school delay to mention. watauga county schools have not had the weather we have had. they will be on a two-hour delay tomorrow so keep that in mind. >> a student got the surprise of his life just outside his apartment complex. 19-year-old daniel kepple says a woman was lying on the ground and about to go into labor. his roommate called 9-1-1 and he called his mother who is a nurse and tried to gather supplies while this neighbor stayed with the woman. >> the next thing i knew she is pushing and screaming real loud and the baby is coming out. my main concern is to get the baby to cry and get the baby to breathe. >> he heard it cry and minutes later an ambulance arrived and took the bar and the mother to the hospital. neither daniel nor his neighbor got his name. they certainly would like to see her again.

kansas is dealing with heartbreaking news. one of her unborn twins likely will not survive according to her doctors, but a sonogram is giving this family something to hold on to. molly explains that it is a remarkable picture that has touched everyone. >> reporter: ian and britney didn't plan on having anymore kids much less twins. >> we went in for our six-week sonogram and they said there is one heartbeat and here is another. >> reporter: from shock to excitement and to hearing news no parent expects. with a hole in his heart and an abnormal brain one baby wasn't growing like he should. >> he is only weighing 9 ounces and his sister is over two pounds. his only chance of survival would be heart surgery, but they wouldn't do heart surgery because of his brain. >> reporter: at each appointment it is more bad news until tuesday when doctors captured this. >> we didn't see much. they said here is his hand and here is her hand.

left has his tiny hand wrapped around the hand of growing twin sister madeline. >> most twins when she is trying to take pictures thisy are kicking each other and -- they are kicking each other and hitting each other. with our twins it just seemed like she was very protective over him. >> reporter: because mason may never get to know his twin or family, this special moment, siblings bonding before birth is something these parents say is no coincidence. >> we know we have a piece of them together that will last forever and it is special to have. >> i know i am holding him and carrying him, but i want to be there for him. he is the only one that can actually be there and hold on to him through it. it is comforting to know if he does pass he is not alone.

back in 90 seconds. >> maureen: the most notable video. a florida man was charged after he took this backhoe for a joyride. a dangerous one. he damaged a bridge here and even as you can see damaged the road before this. police say the man dumped boulders on the roadway. his drive that you can see here went on for an hour and a half. police used spike sticks that punctured the vehicle's tires and fennelly brought it to a -- and finally brought it to a stop. >> maureen: a scary moment for pope francis. watch as he is shaking hand

and cbs. >> maureen: this photo of a teenager standing on the american flag is going viral. it caused rumors to swirl around a south carolina school as many thought the picture was taken there. we now know it did not happen in south carolina. our sister station, wis, in columbia received phone calls and even e-mails because the photo had a caption saying "this is what kids at richland high are doing now." you see there is a richland high in the columbia area a. the investigative team at wis looked into this and found this happened in richland high school in richland township, pennsylvania. tonight we are hearing from the family of the teen.

connected, but not all. he says they are doing active surveillance as he described it by speaking to those already sickened to learn more and try to stop the spread. still some people are immune. >> generally speaking those born before 1957 we consider to be immune because they most likely had mumps which is just as effective if not more effective than getting the vac saw mages. vaccination. >> maureen: the vaccination is yourself. it is generally effective. last year there were three cases of mumps and an average of two cases per year over the pas five years. keep in mind today mecklenburg county has about one million people living right here. >> maureen: let's go to eric thomas. eric, we have been marveling at our forecast. it is feeling like spring, but

friday a weak front showing up on the map. that means for us, yes, another good looking day here is why. the midto upper 50s through friday. how about midto upper 60s into the weekend time frame. on monday and tuesday, wow, three straight days of rain. this is a big system coming our way. by wednesday it will be crossing the gulf coast states and ending up on the eastern coast. with that we will see chilly air. it could produce snowfall in the high country and with our low temperature of 38 there could be wet flakes out of that on wednesday morning. that's something to keep track of. no spring is not over and back to you. he donated his organs and his
